  • An" Afro" thats a new term..never heard that one before..

  • Just a short cut for people of African descent that I made up.

  • Education is what Afro pple need.most do not understand nothing about Africans.this brothers and sisters are really lost but, time shall bring us together.good vid bro,Educate them..merci.

  • I t goes BOTH ways. TRUST & believe there is much miseducation in Africa as well as amerikkka. and when some meet a sista like me from the US they don't accept it... They make me pay 4 the bad ppl they meet even when I give them oppurtunity 2 see different. Even tho I may have had an African from Africa treat me badly I could NEVER hate my ppl or put anyone above my ppl!

    In African LOVE

    Yaa

  • True..I agree with you..Love you too ma sweet sis...One love..xx

  • Afros and Africans? Your title says it all. There has been an intential agenda set forth to divide us. Sadly our people on both sides of the Atlantic fall for it. Most people gain their perceptions from the media. Then when people venture to the other side, they already have their minds made up so they only recognize that negative element.

  • I must say, the struggles Of our people in the America's are vastly diffrent than those of our people on the Mother continent. No NOT GREATER, just VASTLY DIFFRENT. I don't think we will ever truley understand what each other has to endure when it comes to the oppressive nature of the "powers that be."

  • The American oppression involves corruding the psyche. As a brother Born in the America's I will say that Our people here are suffering from a severe case of amnesia, that has lead to a mild form of Psychosis (Psychosis-literally means abnormal condition of the mind). Having to live with and embrace the culture of the perpetrators Has corrupted much of our righteousness. Hence, some of us have resorted to taking on self-destructive traits, charecteristics, and activities.

  • ...I must point out however that those individuals that exhibit that destructive behavior are only a small percentage of OUR people. The fact is, the media (a primary tool that is aiding in our mental deterioration) only shines the spotlight on those disturbed individuals. So they are only example foreigners see, and they are all WE see as well, as you pointed out in your video.

    Great video brother!

  • Yes those individuals are a small minority that exists everywhere in the world. The differences are the relationship between them and the authorities as well as the "response" towards their plight.

  • Uplift20, you know thats a good point. The issue certainly is broader than Black Americans and Africans, where people are actually more open to discuss the dilemma. Notice, there are very few videos (on YT) or Message Board post regarding certain conflicts among Blacks in England.

  • Love your compassion

  • I agree. I appreciate the intentions this video was made with.

  • it's not just black america. Africa and Africans have been given a bad name around the world. The same images are used of people hungry, war and brutlity nothing good is shown we need to change that. Bazel Davidson anwhite auther on Africa wrote that what Africa need is a renassonce just like Europe to do that we need to work together.

  • I am a black american (of African descent!!) and to be honest with you, I personally feel that their is an ignorant perception on our brothers in sisters who are from Africa. I think part of the reason for that being is because of Television and Media. Alotta stuff we see on tv gives people images of things and automatically we hold those images as being true & a 'generalization'. I feel that its purposely done to keep us divided in some way or another.

And for the record: I LOVE AFRIKA!!!

  • Bro, I know that you love Afrika. But as I said I think that black americans need to retake control of that voice and image that media has stolen to distort it. As i say in part two there was a time were the dominant voices within the communities were does of the progressive members. I believe that retaking control would resolve problems that some sections of black america are facing as well as be a starting point for better relations with other communities including Africans.

  • @congo

Well I do believe & agree with you on the fact that us as Black Americans need to regain our control and images of 'who we are'. I guess that is the ultimate reason for why the majority of black americans (not including myself of course)seems to be disconnected from people who are from Africa, the West Indies and so on. I cant speak for other countries but I can speak for my own and the bottom line is that the U.S. is indeed Euro Centered & mostly glorifies anything that is related.

  • I wanted to ask you something personally and get your opinion on this. what do you think or feel Blacks in America ought 2 do 2 regain the real truth about our home?

Also at what point in american history have blacks ever had the real & true image of Afrika? because I personally feel and this is just an opinion of my own but i personally feel that we've neva had the true perception of Afrika since we've been brought here so like could just educate me on that because I kno I dont know everything

  • To have a feel of what the continent is about (it is difficult to have a general view because regions and countries go through different evolution) I think people could follow what's happening in terms of news, trends, music a couple of things. The other thing is to be in contact with different people from the continent that would give you a better idea of those things.

  • With the possibilities of the internet it is possible to have all that info. But you know there is a lot happening already with a number of African Americans coming to the continent as well as people in the US getting info through several media and African migration. There are groups and bodies who contribute towards a better understanding for the people on both sides of the Atlantic. But it is something that shouldn't be forced; for those who are interested in it should come naturally.

  • I hope see the second part! peace

  • Africa Americans are cool too...I hope ppl don't think I hate em' lol If not I gotta make a video that I don't hate em at all. PS: when I say MANY...I'm not saying MOST but many do glorify CERTAIN aspects of African American Cultures that I don't like. I'm sad people can't "be themselves", why ppl have to be "fake"...anyways my video was a RESPONSE video ask by Sahbisun to a QUESTION she asked on what blks thought ABOUT african americans...based on my observations AND conclusions I got those...

  • I perhaps will make a video response to that video to HIGHLIGHT positive aspects...I know know several africa american ppl who are POSITIVE INFLUENCES in my life and DO prove themselves superior to the niggerism that I've often seen from both Africans and African Americans at times...when I say Niggerism I refer to those that PERFECT the stereotypes they are given in the media..."black nazis" anyways on to the next video.

  • I love sis Likemba she is passionate. The other day I listened to the song "Ni**a" by Nas. It shocked the hell out of me. Here is a brother who I understood to be aware and on this song he basically denounces Africa and Africans, generalizing , that "you" don't like us anyways. There are misconceptions and unfortunately what rules our thoughts is what the media puts out. Many of us continental and diasporic have come to embody the idea that the media has set upon us. We need to wake up.

  • You're on spot sister, that's one of the factors that influences are thoughts.

  • eh!! oyebi suite ya likambu oyo LOL. Eza probleme, te oko sepela na suite.

  • I know sister be patient as I explained wait for part 2.

  • Sista Likemba I wasn't saying we better than them by no means. What I mentioned were quotations of people, the negative. As for the Governments in Africa, they try uphold a certain image even if we know its not the case. Anti social behaviour is on the rise even at home, I send you some vids on that subject. In part 2 I'll explain it better.

  • I meant actually quotes not quotation of Africans.

  • I was asked to do a video on this topic and i will...thanks you so much for this video :o)
