Where I live in AL most daycare workers are paid minimum wage or a little above it. The pay is only $7.25 an hour. I believe the government should step in and treat ECE the same way schools are treated. A childcare worker doesn't have to have a degree to teach four year olds, not where I work. All they need is a high school diploma or GED.

These statistics are so indicative of the poor quality of education in this country. It is so true if we spend time investing in our children's lives when they are in the most developmental stages of their lives, the dividends can be nothing less than astronomical. I mean, come on, we are talking about investing in the next Einstein, Michael Jordon, Ronald Reagan, Thomas Edison, etc. We have so much to lose when we spend just pennies to educate our young children.
