Clinical depression isn't something you're born with; it develops over time based off of negative experiences in life. Homosexuality is something that you're born with (for the most part, at least), and it's a necessary orientation, as it's one of nature's ways of controlling the population. Hmmm...if I recall correctly the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disease stopped listing homosexuality as an illness right around the time its third edition came out (DSMIII) and that ocurred at least 20 years ago. There has been some debate as to the politics behind that decision, but alas, science will adhere to facts only as far as these facts remain true under the scrutiny of research and statistics.

You can still assist in the success of a portion of your genetic information through altruistic acts to your siblings, relatives, etc. this would allow cetain kin to abandon personal reproduction (and the costs attached to it) in favour of assisting their closest kin in their reproduction. Your false premise is that you define homosexuality in negative terms. It's not about what you can't do, but what you CAN do. It's the ability to fall in love and nurture the needs of the same sex. Lots of gays have children because they want them; they go through the mechanics of sex without any romantic component. But technology is doing wonders today.

Whether an act can result in progeny is not the test of nature. For something to be unnatural, it must be altered by a human agency. In homosexuality there is no such alteration. If two men can't reproduce, it may put them at a disadvantage, but to call them sick, or imply that they're lower in value, is to reek with the prejudice that comes out of your puny little mind.

If you're so cocksure you're right, why not take it on with the World Health Organization? Tell them what they don't know or understand. If normal means simply being in the majority, then consider the frightening ramifications. The term can imply that being different is wrong or shameful. This video is thoroughly convoluted. I suggest Sylvestre Fox do his research. He would learn that all of the major organizations in relation to the behavioral sciences no longer classify homosexuality as a mental illness. Putting it simply, the idea that it is an illness is scientifically untenable. Gay people see through this "secularized" form of religious prejudice; mental illness theories are based on a desire to justify this prejudice that carry some "intellectual weight."

Freud fluctuated on whether homosexuality is a mental illness or not. As feminists pointed out, Freud was more influenced by conventional norms, like the vast majority of us are, than he realized. In the final analysis, Freud held that homosexuality is NOT a mental illness.

Clinical depression isn't something you're born with; it develops over time based off of negative experiences in life. Homosexuality is something that you're born with (for the most part, at least), and it's a necessary orientation, as it's one of nature's ways of controlling the population. If you're going to classify it as a mental illness, you're also going to have to present some negative effects that homosexuality brings about.

What I really meant is that a lot of scientists/biologists generally seem to agree that homosexuality MIGHT (I wish there was an alternative way to highlight words) be a way of nature trying to keep the population down. I remember reading opinions from them online at different points in time, but as for a source: no, I cannot give you one at the moment.

Homosexuality is nothing abnormal. It is very much normal, and this is something that I can back up entirely, as pretty much every scientist agrees. This is because of homosexuality being so pervasive throughout nature. How can something natural be considered a mental illness of any kind?

Anyway, bisexuality is totally different. If I'm correct, everyone who isn't gay is bisexual to a greater or lesser extent, it's just social stigmas that prevent us from being attracted to the same gender as well as the opposite one.
