I played it a lot 5 years ago, and I was able to up until 520 coins before reaching x2 bonus (on 50 Hz) ! Enguarde was definitively my favourite bonus level...
I have DKC for GBA and this bonus area for enguarde is kinda impossible to get 999 because the time counts down a lot faster than on the SNES version.
You can't go over 999, and everyone I know of is certain that Rambi can't get 999 (a lot of time is wasted running across the little ledges on the ceiling of the Rambi level, which on the other levels is time spent getting tokens). If you can remember where you saw 999 Rambi, please tell.
Hehe, nope... the whole route is planned, and the end is supposed to be reached with 1-2 seconds to spare. Near the end, I clipped some coral by accident and lost some time... but I still made it before the timer stopped, so it seemed even closer to 0 than it was supposed to be.
I though i was good at this game. Then i saw this. I was wrong.
