@CameramaDingDang First off it was just an observation, something I simply noticed and made a comment on but since you wanna be an asshole, you can kiss my ass.
@CameramaDingDang "It should not matter".... is your opinion, which you are entitled to and maybe to you it doesn't matter but obviously it does matter to others, such as myself, which is why I made the comment.
"Point being no one cares" = your opinion. Again, it was simply a statement I made relating to an observation. Either way I love this song so.... whatever.
@zbrinkman89 ...except for Carter Beauford, Al Di Meola, Chick Corea, Brad Meldau, Bill Evans, etc. Dave's amazing though...perhaps best singer-song writing guitarist/performer/dancer ever. I'd buy that.
Was at a DMB concert early 2000s just as they were launching into this song a satellite arced overhead in the sky - no kidding! My only comment to my companion - before the music even began - 'They're gonna play Satellite''
@youmakemelaff its actually really really easier, i thought it was gonna be a pain when i started but its not so bad. the chorus is a harder in my opinion. its just very tiring to play
@youmakemelaff it's not so bad once you get used to playing the pattern over and over, cause it does repeat alot of times....also, he's fucking insanely good!
I always wondered myself how he does that and recently started playing and signing so much to say. Its all about the rhythm. Somehow if you get the rhythm down it counters the complexity of it and it feels natural, making it easier, even opening up the songs to improvisation and interpretation.
@youmakemelaff Practice tip: watch your favorite tv shows and keep playing the riff in the meantime... depending on guitar level you should be able to sing to it after a couple of days. ;) but yeah, it's hard
I love this song, but does anyone know why he changed it from "After her" which is on youtube, look it up, anyway "after her" was the same guitar riff and that line "winters cold spring erase, and the calm away the storm is chasing", but it was a love song, I was wondering why he changed it to this, I love this just as much, but I didn't know the story behind why he changed it that's all...
haha that's funny, cause I'm chasing a girl now, for whom I made a tape(cd) of dmb and "after her" was one song she wanted...that was the song that actually got us talking,I play it all the time now, at least until I catch her, which I think I will very soon...I hope. sorry for the boring story, but thanks for clearing that up for me.
His voice isn't shot...shot means it'd be weaker, he couldn't reach high notes etc. What has happened more recently is that Dave has discovered how cool his voice sounds when he screams/growls, so he uses that alot, unfortunately that causes his falsetto to diminish in quality during live performances. In that respect yes, it's difficult for him to give a quieter, breathier vocal quality to Satellite after screaming his guts out on Halloween or Watchtower.
Everybody hold up! We don't need to be getting so hostile? Don't believe me? Go pick up the issue of Rolling Stone magazine after DMB put out American Baby, Dave said that's 1 of his least favorite things & that's something he wishes he could change about this world? All the hostility?
I dont give a damn what anyone says, i saw him 16-14-08 Saturday 16th row, and he was great, voice was fine, band couldnt be better. The way he sings, causes him to really wear himself out at some points in the tour, his voice has many years many years left.
yeh he's still got it no doubt i mean it's like any normal person their voice goes from time to time, i saw his benefit concert for lung cancer at msg and i've never heard his voice sound so good in years it was pitch perfect, especially during proudest monkey riiiight into this
@hupbla87 are you positive about the pick ups? cause ive been looking into doing that to my SST and if thats what it will sound like then im doing it.
ya this song really isnt that good these days when they play it.Dave has got to settle his voice for the next tour.Holloween is awesome, but it fucks his voice.
yeah dave, you're so right about everything all the time... why don't you shut the fuck up you fucking moron, i'd like to see you get your fat ass up there and do better

@prettygrey Maybe because he is the founder, and he recruited the others. So don't go all racist on Dave.

Underrated by the weird dmb community, who at this point has lost all legitimacy in the music world.
