I think that portal 2 was a good game because of how different and fun it was compared to how many other games were based off of what was done before over and over.

I would chose Portal 2 over skyrim myself, but it depends on what you like. I did get portal 2 in a bundle though, where skyrim is by itself.

I love Skyrim and all, but why are people saying portal 2 is much of the same when Skyrim is still very similar to previous TES games with little improvements. IMO the only innovation for me in Skyrim was the new skill system, which made it accessible for anyone to jump in and enjoy the game. Everything else that Skyrim offered I have seen in many rpg's before. Still a fun game but not the perfect game many are making it out to be.

Ha! This is great. The game that deserved it won, in my opinion. Skyrim is balls out amazing, but as a whole Portal 2 is better and is even a lot more fun for me. Heck, I sat there all night long on release day and beat Portal 2. I'd never do that with any other game. But, as somebody else said, Quality > Quantity. That said, I respect other people's opinions that disagree with mine. Not a big deal, they're just games.

Portal is one of my most favorite games, Portal 2 offered a great experience, but it was extremely temporary. The jokes and storyline are the only things that hold a true place in my heart, but the gameplay got very repetitive despite being a puzzle game. Personally, I think Deus Ex or Skyrim would be better choices. But I respect Destructoid's opinion since Portal 2 was one of the best games of this year.

Frankly, any choice would have generated hate, but I agree with the Destructoid team. Portal 2 had phenomenal writing, fun puzzles, unforgettable characters, and a lot of polish.
