sadly, it is still true. Miami is becoming a true third class city. No education, no cultural outlets.... full of self-centered, ignorant "gangsters". But hey, we still make it to the top of the list as the most corruptive city of the union. That counts right dawg? pathetic.
People need to stop hating and start realizing that one, just because you have money, dosnt meant life is any easier. And two, that just cause you went to private schools here in miami, dosnt mean you had money or lived a charmed life. I know i didnt. Just cause the kids depicted in this film had money didnt mean their destructive and sometimes dangerous decisions were any less impactful on their own lives or those around them. I think this film still gives a good lesson to be learned.
this is rich private school memoirs no real magic city. please give us a film showing the real drama happening in the real streets of miami, not the high class rich boy drama where no one really can relate to.
I think he thinks hes a thug cuz he went to public school. Don't hate on us because we got paper broke nigga. Movies about growing up over privileged in private school. No one claims to be a thug or bad ass in this movie. Watch it before you knock it wuss.
wow these private school kids are so bad ass... it must be tough to drive a bmw to school cuz their parents didnt wana buy them the lambo... i cant believe we're having these spoiled private school brats represent miami's youth this is sad
This Movie does not represent me as a Cuban or Miamian Just cause you go to Night Clubs listen to WACK ASS HIP-HOP or snort coke does not make you a thug stop living in Daddy's shadow private school punks I went to a bad mother f--king school a real bad school Mac South Columbus, Belen, and these private schools man give me a break trying to get credit from those that really went through ruff times while you all b-tches had it made - BOM UFO CREW!!! RESESONESKISTERIZM!!!
Hell Yea! The movie looks dope, cant wait to see it. The City of wasted talent. The Miami life tends to get in the way of success. Good to see a Columbus Alum. come up.
@lollipopballsack goggle the movie, the guy who inspired and wrote the movie, went to Columbus, then got expelled and went to St. Brendan, then went back to Columbus for senior year.
@TheRquirch google the movie yourself. The guy who inspired and wrote the movie is Aaron Salgado. he's the writer and director. He graduated from St. brendan.
@alvaroflow22 the produce went to columbus, jd friexas. i read they both came up with the story. Salgado wrote it though. Whatever its the same shit, Columbus, pace, st brendan, and every private school in miami. ROFL. movie looks fire forreal. Got tix for saturday, cant wait!!! MIA STAND UP!

After reading all the comments, I have to say I am impressed. The director and producer accomplished their goal and have all you guys talking about magic city. So thank you for both your negative and positive comments. As long as you keep talking bout it.
I went to school with the actor & producer (Andy & Aaron) & this does actually resemble our high school besides it's a movie. Regardless of what all u haters think I got to represent & support them!!! Good job, miss you guys! Xoxo
This looks nothing like what goes down in miami, and I went to private school. Also had friends and cousins that went to Columbus. Sorry to say this just looks like what a few kids wished their high school experience was like.
@Nicksflicks53 this movie is fairly accurate for the type of life that some people live in the high schools that this movie is based on, and while i do agree with you, its to the point where the hallways and uniforms look exactly the same. Speaking from experience.
If a tree falls in a forest, and nobody is around to hear it... does it make a sound? Don't lose sight of what story is actually being told. Lost City, despite Andy's best efforts, only perpetuated the reality that nobody outside of Miami cares about the Cuban plight as its been told. Memoir's seemingly narrow characterization of private school kids in Miami will only do the same - perpetuate a false stereotype of what seems to be Columbus kids. I hope I'm wrong. Columbus deserves more.
MrMike, agreed 100% on A+ for effort. Judging from the trailer, however, the other grades will fall well short. I will reserve my own grade until I see the full feature. I am a product of a Miami private school. Columbus kids aren't a bunch of little punks. I hope the full cut doesn't build on that. My opinion - as does yours - matters. We are the audience. I don't see anyone outside of Miami caring about this one way or the other. This is Lost City part II on the relevance scale.
@Dopeboy35628 I watch everything from indie to studio, low-budget to avatar. I appreciate the art. that being said, Art is a form of expression. as artists, filmmakers tend to tell stories they feel only they can tell. ex: The Lost City. Im not saying it's a great movie, but if Andy Garcia doesn't make it, who does? Same goes with this one, Do the Right Thing, Clerks and every other passion project that found an audience. If the film captures a generation it's relevant. that makes it Dope, boy
@papagiorgio220 dawg u just sound plain ignorant. "calling like I see it:" you probably aint even seen the movie yet nigguh. And saying only private school kids would like this make u sound like a public school kid who is mad about being broke. I got three boys that went to gulliver and shit they LIVE that lavish lifestyle you hating on...support the dade county talent, mang, stop hating on your own.
@dopeboy35628 shit this the first time i see Andy G. rep some miami talent. the way i see it someone finally made something good enough to get hollywood's attention. I aint gonna judge til i see the movie, but on some real shit they doing it bigger than any miami filmmaker ever has..big ups to them for the effort.
If this reflects the quality of Miami's future filmmaking, what a sad state indeed. Is going through Andy G. a prerequisite to doing something out of Miami? This film will make a few kids really popular in Miami but nothing more. Miami is a small bubble and people talk - without Andy pulling the strings, this would be showing in someone's living room at a bad high school party. If you want respect and to blaze a trail, do something on your own. This is all smoke and mirrors.
Looks stupid. The only people who will find this movie appealing are all the fags that go to private school and pretend that they live some sort of lavish Miami lifestyle.
@PapaGiorgio220 The thing is you HAVEN'T seen it and your already shitting on it like you are such a 305 gangster and know how it all goes down no matter where you went to school. There are many stories to be told out of Miami. This is an Indie film which you are obviously not familiar with. I'm sorry every movie can't Boy's in the Hood, Scarface or Bad Boys blowing up shit to keep your narrow minded attention span. See it first and then call it, if you're trying to "call it like you see it.".
@PapaGiorgio220 Actually it wouldn't be such a bad idea if you "kept it real" and stop logging on to your computer to spread your negative narrow minded opinion.
