Wonderful movie, still find it as great in my 20's as when I first saw it ten years ago! It really captures teenage angst and romance with none of the sex, violence and swearing that seem mandatory in modern movies. Need more movies like this.
This is a very sweet movie! I love the ending and their final words to eachother. it's very eloquent and yet it's very naatural at the sime time. nice freeze at the end! He's pretty cool to run after the car like that. If I was Lauren, that would mean an awful lot to me. I wish the mom would watch what she said!
@dfsixsixsix Wow, what a story. I hope you are together forever. That means in the next life too. So it means you must live as God would have you to here.
In the 2001 movie "Hearts in Atlantis", Ted, played by Anthony Hopkins asks the young boy Bobby if he's kissed his young girlfriend yet. Grossed out, the boy says, "eww". Ted then predicts, 'Well you will. And It will be the kiss by which all others in your life will be judged...and found wanting."
This is true. So be extremely careful whom you first kiss. Chances are, if you are not careful, it will not be the person you eventually marry. Save that first kiss for marriage, and savor it. 8-)
Gimme a break! Lauren`s dad coulda gotten the kid his U.S. green card like that!(snaps fingers), but he didn`t. So the French kid gets swallowed up by Parisian traffic in the end and will probably end up running the adult movie joint with Lalond. Lauren ? She wins the Pulitzer. An American passport makes ALL the difference in the world , don`t it kids :D
In the fullness of time, we will likely forget many things about our first love..we will forget her beautiful face..her lovely voice..the length of her vibrant hair or her radiant smile..and maybe even her name...but one thing will remain forever true which can never be forgotten by us..and that is..our feelings for her..our love was TRUE!
One of the most poignant endings in movie history. You can't help but fall in love with these characters and feel their emotions. It's a shame Thelonius didn't pursue further acting as he such a "likeable" actor.
I saw this movie with my first girlfriend in 1980. I almost walked out, thinking this was a boring foreign film. I'm glad I didn't. Although my first girlfriend has long since left me, this movie still brings tears to my eyes, wondering if somewhere out there, I have a true love, who waits still, for her kiss under the bridge of sighs. The music is Vivaldi - Guitar Concerto in G .
We had it all (We had it all) Just like Bogie and Bacall Starring in our old late, late show Sailing away to Key Largo Here's lookin' at you kid (Here's lookin' at you kid) Missing all the things we did We can find it once again, I know Just like they did in Key Largo ---Bertie Higgins (1982)
First time I've saw this movie and its amazing. I loved it right from the beginning. They are both so sweet and Julius is such a great man for doing all that for them.
Yuck! Walk to Remember is a disgusting cliche film with a storyline which such an obvious 'tearjerker' it makes me sick. This movie is what I call a real romance. And Diane Lane! Imagine if instead of her one of the horrible stupid young people who calling themselves actresses like Lohan, Duff or those anorexic twins were cast! I'm sorry, but times are gone and nobody's likely to make such a truly romantic movie nowadays, since everything is now commercialized and made into sucky chick-flix.
That poor French kid just wanted to go to America with Lauren.Leave that sweaty craphole called France...But he gets swallowed up by Parisian traffic instead.
They should do a sequel : "A Little Romance: 30 years later". She returns to Paris, covert CIA (ie: Valerie Plame), in her late 40s to track down the French kid who works for a subversive French terror cell. LMAO!!!!
Some of the most beautiful music ever written by French Composer George Delarue. A story of what love is and isn't. You know these two kids are going to find happiness, because there is a lot more right with them: whatever fate has instore for them, they are winners. Thanks to Diane Lane and Thelonious Bernard and a special thanks to Arthur Hill, who manages, in this and "Death Be Not Proud," to convince me that he portrays wonderful fathers because he is one.
The kid (Thelonious Bernard) quit the industry in ´81. Enrolled in dental school and pulls friggin teeth for a living. Diane Lane ? Nominated for an Oscar in 2005.
The kid just wanted to go to America, leave that sweathole called France. He loved everything American, heck! That kid might even be Zarkozy for all I know...
