@nutsaboutclara That's not entirely true! I've never read that Clara had a "childhood stammer"!! Marion Davies talked with a stammer, you must have them confused!!! Paramount threw Clara into talkies with very little training and she did fine in them, and even more so considering how little training she had! There's nothing wrong with her voice at all!! Her voice is fine and fits her well!

this movie has more Drama accoc. with it than 5 dozen films, from some sources this was Paramounts first full legnth talking film and they rist there no 1 star who already knew she hated the mike, and that is where all the other rumors started
