There are no side effects! Some get treathed, others get better or remained in same condition as before. Egaz Moniz didn't get the Noble prize for nothing.
And what about modern psychosurgery? Well, it could do some miracles on patients suffering from phobias were medicin won't work like agoraphobia. It either freezes or burn some brainissue with lazer.
He received a nobel prize early on before much of the negative side effects were known and acknowledged. Helping only 10% should not received Nobel status.
There are all different kinds of side effects - the one thing noticed, however, is that it did not cure anybody. housewives who were depressed went and had a lobotomy. Look up Rose Kennedy (part of JFK family) she had a lobotomy and was a vegetable for the rest of her life. Howard Dully had one at age 12 and says he felt like he lost a part of his soul. He is still alive, look him up, also.
The lobotomy is the cutting off the front LOBe(LOBotomy)from the amygdyla, the part of the brain which controls emotion. This used to be a legal "procedure" which parents in the 1st half of the 20th century did without much thought to control ADD children, or as they said "problem child".Doing this to urself is in fact mutilation. You may fuction and recognize that your supposed to stay alive, work, reproduce(cuz theres backups),and not kill people. But you lose personality, AKA ur a robot, no lols.
True. But, to my knowledge, "lobotomy", or "the removal of the frontal lobe of the brain via an instument inserted through the optic ophesis", is outlawed in BOTH countries.
Psychosurgery is still being done, however - it is done with lasers and is a last resort. People who have severe tics will sometimes get surgery done that puts a computer chip in their head that controls the brain waves. Severe epileptics might have surgery. Howeverk, there are less than 1000 a year in America that has these surgeries.
I have brain damage as a result of an antidepressant. I don't know how much longer I will be able to live with this suffering, or with the knowledge that the society which surrounds me finds this sort of thing funny, or, worse, creative and deserving of accolades.
Maybe you can put an ad for Celexa by my grave, and call that art too.

I got a lobotomy when I was a kid for not brushing my teeth. Afterwards, I pulled all my teeth out with plyers and ate them.
