I think Greg's the best live. Patton you can't compare them to, the man is a legend. And Dimitri, well, he' fuckin was a founder. of course he's a beast.
Calculating Infinity, man fucking insane. Look people, I've seen Greg he's a monster no doubt. But if you didn't see Dimitri back in the day, then don't argue on who's better. Because that man's screams where fucking raw power. Patton much more insane though than the two of them combine. In singing or screaming.
Dimitri will always be my favorite, mostly because his lyrics were very dark and metaphoric, plus his scream was straight vicious. Patton was a nice experiment to hear. Puciato has the best range and stlye of any vocalist ive heard in awhile. And he makes the live shows so entertaning soooooo...... Fuck the haters
I mean, Patton is widely regarded as the greatest vocalist in rock/metal today, his range is just incredible. Of course Greg's not going to be PERFECT compared to the studio version, but he did a damn good job in my opinion.

i'm sorry, this guy's performance is terrible no matter how you look at it. i tried to consider it from the perspective a couple of the apologists here have mentioned -- that it's live, as opposed to a studio -- but starting at 3:30, it just gets to be inexcusable. if DEP are going to insist on performing this song with puffed-up frat boys like greg on vocals, they should at least change its name to "when good bands hire bad singers."
C'mon. You know there was no way he could be any close to what Mike Patton did in the studio. In fact, there's no way a live version could ever sound like that.
Yeah, I've seen it. He always sounds 'pretty damn good' live, but he didn't hit that low voice that makes the song sound so cool in the studio version.
Greg's been with the band since around '02 i think? GET THE FUCK OVER IT. DMITIRI'S GONE AND HAS A FAMILY. HE'S NOT COMINB BACK. besides, as fucking crucial as he was, his range is nothing compared to Greg's.
Yes, it is true. Patton is a great vocalist in many ways, but to be fair on Greg's part there are a ton of effects Patton uses. Greg did quite well here I think.
I love this song, but it always seems to sound strange live. Not sure why. I'd like to hear a studio version of this particular one (with Greg's vocals). It will be easier to compare.
have to remember that although patton is an unreal vocalist, this song would have been recorded in lots of little takes, especially the fast bits. listen to the recording on headphones, you can hear it. it takes a lot of vocal stamina to pull this shit off, and greg does a good job..
yea but as far as the scream in this song goes....including those high as hell pitches go, i've seen Patton do live in front of me with a clean mic. this guys isn't even attempted really.

Personally I think all the vocalists were good after listening to all the albums.
They all have something good about them - Dimitri: A 'raw' sound, Mike: Insane sounding xD and Greg: Nice thick sound and can sing as well.

hahah, I know which part your talking about, where he starts talking about the fly, right?
Yeah, i bet he got too excited to do that voice.

Yep. :) It sounds WAY too good in the studio, there's no way a live version could top it.

man, chris does a lot of stuff during that soft part. It's hard to hear what he does on the CD because of the effect.

yes, but even live is better with patton... there are some videos of this song with patton live.
I'm not saying that greg is a bad singer, i'm just saying that the song w/patton is a lot better

there is one! Greg did this song in Jon Peel's studio. If you look on the internet i'm sure you can find dillinger's peel sessions.

what the fuck are you talking about new guy? greg has been the singer since around 01-02
sixshooterFL 4 years ago
Yes, but Mike Patton did this song with them originally. Therefore any version done by Greg will be a new version.

as well as greg does for this song, irony is a dead scene songs should be limited to patton singing them.

I kinda agree, Mike Patton has a very unique voice. This isn't bad though, pretty good actually.
literamaniac 4 years ago
Correction - Mike Patton has about a hundred unique voices. The guy must have a rubber voicebox with the insane range he's got.
