Gypsy says "hello" in a mechanical answering machine voice when she hears a phone ring. Her previous owner had the old fashioned type of answering machine. She also says "Good Noght", sometimes when it's dark or maybe she's just tired. She never says anything on que and she rarely talks. She will however say hmmmm?" "frequently.

My Bella is 3 yrs old and she will never speak on command and the only words that she will rarely say are Hi, Peekaboo(she learned from stewie), and she clucks like a chicken, also learned from your videos. any hints on how to get her to talk more? I haven't heard anything but Hi since May. I also just lost my blue and gold macaw to cancer, bella knew him her whole life, i am sure she is deeply affected by the loss. I hope she comes around soon.

Gypsy was given to me about 3 or so years ago. She has a legband that has a date on it, so I take it that was her hatch date. I have to look at it again but she is about 16 or so years old. She is a sweetie!

But I am assume its ok if they arent banded right? I know when he was born... I just guess i dont have any "real proof" lol

As far as I know, it is fine if there is no leg band. Sometimes they come off if the breeder puts one on and the baby bird has a particularly small foot. I'm no expert & not a breeder. My understanding is that it has something also to do with if they were born in this country, etc. But like I said, the leg bands can come off early on, so there are other reasons a parrot may not be banded. I guess it's preferable if they are banded but if not it's probably still okay.
