Who ever built this truck must have a lot of time on his hands ..I imagine he got bored waiting on his check every month and said hey! Im gonna put a cummins in my s-10...
act440...you didn't go to college huh? the particulate levels alone in diesel faaaaar outweigh all pollutants combined in gasoline...you think that big ass black plume is not detrimental to the environment???? leave the environment to the big "kids"
@ChadGogley Your hearts in the right place. In 2010 regulation on sulfur content & advancements in fuel delivery, have now made Diesel a more effecient alternative use of fuel than the common unleaded gasoline. Diesel does however emit larger levels of nitrogren & partical matter(soot) which can/will cause respiratory problems and or cancer. Those truths have been diminished by reducing up to 50% nitrogen emittance & 90% less partical matter(black smoke)
@coolstuff471 Camaro won with a time of 7.95 and a speed of 91 MPH.
The truck lost with a time of 8.72 and a speed of 98 MPH. I think they were on an eighth mile drag strip bcuz that'd be pretty fcking amazing to see a truck pull that time in a quarter mile.
@tworth1953 Your retarded. What do you think hauls your little ricers around? Thats right, a diesel. Now go get bent because your import can't haul anything
@tworth1953 Like all diesel's... dirty, noisy, powerful, awesome, the backbone of america, did i mention awesome. They should be EVERYWHERE...oh yea thats right they are
@tworth1953 thats funny because if i recall correctly for the past 5-6 years in a row a diesel powered car has won the 24hrs of lemans, and if diesels are " slow, dirty, and noisy", why are so many car manufacturers making diesel powered cars?
need to see more diesels at drag week that way they can make a small truck and a car class being a diesel powered mustang won the diesel class for obvious reasons kinda kills it for the big diesel trucks
You can see diesel and it soots up things, gas hydrocarbons are invisible and are far worse in the upper atmosphere. SORT OF LIKE A ELECTRIC PLANT WITHOUT A SCRUBBER BURNING COAL, GETS THINGS DIRTY, THEN AGAIN NUCLEAR IS INVISIBLE AND MAKES YOU GROW A THIRD EYE!
this truck needs to have to proper engine management as the thick black smoke is due to the fuel not being burnt completely. its only partially burning the fuel thats injected
@zeppelin67637 diesel engines ad safer with nitrous as they tend to be thicker engined and can handle more power easily without the need for major upgrades
@act440 The only reason this is true is due to overall gas mileage, but that black diesel exhaust not only looks and smells toxic – it is toxic. Diesel exhaust contains more than 40 toxic air contaminants, carcinogens, ozone-forming compounds ("smog") and fine particulate matter ("soot"). Exposure to fine particles alone is known to cause asthma attacks, heart attacks, lung cancer, strokes and even premature death.
@rich1051414 no doubt diesel fumes/exhaust is worse for humans than gasoline, i completely agree. but gasoline exhaust causes more harm to the environment than diesel fumes do.
@act440 That is a false statement, diesel exhaust falls to the ground and absorbs into the earth's natural carbon deposits, gas exhaust floats to the atmosphere and rips it apart. Don't make false claims
and they say diesel is cleaner, how do they test that.? you mean to tell me 2 gas powered cars would put more crap in the air that those 2 rigs...? right
@agdthatguy this is a high performance off road only truck. if you took a oh say 9-10 second gas drag car. made it so that you could see the exhaust clearly. it would look pretty much the same.
@Naturalhit you mean the harmless particulate that you can see? a gas combustion engine produces much more harmful byproduct then a diesel, knowledge is power!
@Nater36 It looks pretty correct to me, diesel soot settles back down to the ground. there is very little "bad emissions" coming from diesels. Black smoke only looks bad, it really isn't.
and even with the most smoke produced from the most powerful diesel, they are still cleaner than most gas vehicles for the ozone. don't believe me? check it.
@kkzippokk The Ozone layer depletion "problem" was created by a research scientist at JPL in the early 1980's when he desired more grant money and needed a "scare" to generate urgent concern.
He noticed the natural weblike ebb & flow of the Ozone layer and chose to portray it as a human-caused catastrophe. My father worked alongside him (same dept, different projects) in weather research there.
@kkzippokk And another thing, there's no such thing as "Global Warming".
They have to call it "Climate Change" now that the greater science community has aligned with facts that the planet is in a cooling trend.
Our CO2 levels are their lowest in history (200-300PPM vs 1400-1500PPM in primordial era ~ NO HUMANS YET!).
The Rothschild family (via the UN) forced a panel of scientists to falsify data and now they're doing the "CARBON TAX" which will transfer more wealth to them.
@crusso777 With a bachelor degree in the science field and my studies, I can tell you your're wrong. CO2 levels are the highest they have been during human history. Fact, the earth is getting warmer, I live in Iowa and we have set 3 high temp records this month. Temps in the 60s F in Jan. in Ia are not the norm. Humans are pumping too much CO2 into the air and it IS causing global warming. I am also a car guy and there are alternative fuels that are much cleaner, such as bio fuels/diesel.
Even the most rabidly die hard "scientists" are only predicting a 1-2 degree increase in average temperature in the next 100 years. You cannot claim to be a scientist and then relate one time data points like "all time highs" in relation to overal global warming.
Let us not forget, in the 1970s we were being told to restrict carbon use because we were going to cause a massive global freeze. Anyone that disagreed was a loon. Sound familar?
@testy462 NICE! Another critical thinker who won't buy into BS that doesn't make SCIENTIFIC sense! :)
The CO2 = Global Warming farce was paid for by the Rothschild family and via the UN, they paid scientists to concoct false data.
Gore's charts were reversed (out of phase) showing CO2 CAUSING warmth, when it's the other way around. If his 100k yr charts were aligned, it would've shown the oceans take 300-400yrs to warm (in a natural warming cycle) which causes higher CO2 *output*.
(continued): The Rothschild family is currently receiving billions of dollars in *CARBON TAX* into their Swiss Banks.
If you demonize a necessary element for life, it makes you an idiot, but it can also make you rich (or richer in this case).
We emit CO2 out of our mouths, so they can tax us on our emissions and eventually will. There is already CARBON TAX TRADE (+ speculating and future commodities trades) occurring.
David Rothschild is the spokesperson for his family's carbon tax.
@stratpaulman Whoa there, I didn't say CO2 levels have been higher during HUMAN history. I said **millions of years ago**... and that is a fact. They were 1400-1500PPM (now they're 200-300).
If you DO want to have an intelligent conversation, then why don't you tell me how CO2, (a gas with a heavier molecular weight THAN AIR) can rise ^UP^.
You setting high temps *IN IOWA FOR THE MONTH* has nothing to do with Earth's mean average temp.
@stratpaulman Also, BTW I have been running my car's on Veggie-based fuel (WVO and biodiesel) for 7 years, so I'm off foreign oil and not making this argument as a complacent citizen with no personal action. I grow my own food, live on well water and am building Algae reactors for my own fuel use. A diesel gen will power my home and run off algal oil which I have grown, using the sun for my input energy.
When I burn that oil, it's "Carbon Neutral" since algae sequesters CO2.
Soot does not affect the ozone layer. Once cooled, it simply falls back to earth. Since both are diesels, this is actually a very clean (relatively speaking) drag race.
is that hood needed to fit the cummins in the s-10? im wondering cause im putting one in my isuzu rodeo cuz i blew the engine and it sucked anyways but i just needed to know if its needed
@ 13brotary i think its cuz people generally think more black and more smoke means more boost and power which is generally cool. plus its just something that is awesome about having a diesel bc only a diesel can do it
Diesels actually generally run lean... A stock diesel at full load is likely around 25-30:1. Turning up fuel without adding air richens it somewhat, but the real reason for smoke is "local" a/f ratio. Diesel fuel flows through the injector, atomizes into droplets, vaporizes, then combusts. In the process, some regions in the cylinder are very lean, and some are very rich. The rich areas tend to burn incompletely, producing smoke. Thus, even a diesel running lean overall can smoke.
People filming ANY drags....Yes there is a lot of action at the beginning of a race with burnouts and staging, then the start. Hows about shooting down the lane so we (the viewers) can get an idea of ETs and RTs? I don't care about the smoke, it's there. I want a good shot of the timers! Yes this vid had a wiggly shot of the times, but come on! Hold it there, let's watch the race! Thank you! Rant OFF!
could have got the same performance if not more from a Chevy 383 stoker probably would've been cheaper but i say he gets at least a B for being different
@CottenCandyFckTart FYI Import companies make diesel engines. Actually, Mercedes makes some kick ass ones. Oh, and lets not forget that import companies also have v8's, oh and lets see it work over Shepherds 6 second 1g dsm.
@moderns30 congratulations you named a faster car, and yes I know other companies make diesel. o yea well that car has nothing on the jet propulsion carts at gran nationals....See what I did I named a faster car, thats all you did. You clearly are completely biased. I own a impreza, not a wrx or sti a plane jane ls. so before you think Im a die hard american made muscle car guy think again. All im saying is people rule out TDs and think petrol is the way to go when diesel is much better.
@c4nea because that doesnt show my point, Its sad how many people love their cars "non american" and think that American cars shouldnt even be mentioned in the same sentance

How much did it cost to put a cummins in that s-10? I think it would be cool to put a 2.8 cummins in a ranger.

If the soot is no problem why do the new diesels have the cat converters and clean tailpipes?? If I need a gas mask to breathe it can't be good.

why doesnt anyone throw these up against imports, they would work them over!
CottenCandyFckTart 5 months ago
@CottenCandyFckTart FYI Import companies make diesel engines. Actually, Mercedes makes some kick ass ones. Oh, and lets not forget that import companies also have v8's, oh and lets see it work over Shepherds 6 second 1g dsm.
moderns30 5 months ago
@moderns30 congratulations you named a faster car, and yes I know other companies make diesel. o yea well that car has nothing on the jet propulsion carts at gran nationals....See what I did I named a faster car, thats all you did. You clearly are completely biased. I own a impreza, not a wrx or sti a plane jane ls. so before you think Im a die hard american made muscle car guy think again. All im saying is people rule out TDs and think petrol is the way to go when diesel is much better.
CottenCandyFckTart 4 months ago
Oh and no, I am not saying domestics are bad, true car fans love cars in general.
moderns30 5 months ago
@CottenCandyFckTart yea until someone shows up with an import thats faster...theres always something faster just remember that
c4nea 5 months ago
@c4nea of coarse theres a faster car but Im simply saying turbo diesel cars and trucks are beasts.
CottenCandyFckTart 4 months ago
@CottenCandyFckTart lol well i dont understand how hard it is to say that? its always about superiority on this damn site.
c4nea 4 months ago
@c4nea because that doesnt show my point, Its sad how many people love their cars "non american" and think that American cars shouldnt even be mentioned in the same sentance
CottenCandyFckTart 4 months ago
@CottenCandyFckTart im pretty sure most DOMESTIC (not "american") drivers are more ignorant about imports than the other way around
