  • Are you referencing any of these? Im just curious cause it looks amazing :)

  • @LoneWolfBlade8779 In what way? If you mean a direct rotoscope, or a copy of a film, no. If you mean working with multiple cycle, anatomy, and mood refs, then yes.

  • This. Is. Amazing.

The voices fit so well, and I can see you really know your biology.

I can't wait to see the finished product!

  • Suggestion: have the wolves growl and the elk whine, this seems as if there was no audio coming from the fight at all.

  • @Jaggedstripe It's a rough cut -- incomplete. That means it's missing plenty of foley.

  • EPIC WORK!!!!!! :D

  • your good at animation

  • If this was a movie I could buy....I would buy it

  • i like very nice

  • Hey, I have been drawing some of your charactars, and I got the style down, (only wolves) So I was wondering if I could apply as an animator?

  • this is amazing

  • just wondering, but, why are there two bull (elk) in one herd?

  • @amidsasd The elk they take down is actually a deposed herd leader -- it's not unusual for lone lurkers to hang out at the fringes of a herd at certain times of the year. The big fellow in charge will drive them off, but they'll gravitate back--ever hopeful, but not too smart. That injury on his hip would have come from the challenge that knocked him off the top rung.

  • is this going to be the finished product?

  • @NakallaWolf This scene is actually getting a rework in a number of places, so not quite finished, no.

  • That was super awesome. One question though- was the panting your voice actor or sound clips of Link of LoZ being injured and panting? Very impressive animation!

  • @Plushierobot To be honest, I'd have to look that one up. I think it was one of our voice actors; if not, it was a purchased sound effects track.

  • AWESOME!

  • I love how you made the wolves so realistic, like in the way they would behave in reality. When Silver's father called to her and she at first questioned it she acted like a wolf would to her superiors. Great job, I can't wait to see it all put together!

  • I would love to help with the film, but I'm 13 and my parents won't let me. Also, my style of drawing/animating wolves is completely different. D:

    ~Wolf

  • I can already tell that when you awesome guys are finally done, I'm gonna watch the crap outta this movie. Lol

  • C'est fantastiquement bien fait !!

    Vraiment magnifique

    Un grand Bravo :D

  • yo ppl are so awesome!! hey do you make your own music?

  • wow! awesome!

    how did you make it?

  • How far in are you? And me and my friends are making an movie and I'm the animator do you have a main animator?

  • it would be even more awesome with more bluuuuuuud! xD

  • Oh ok thanks and how long is the movie so far? And I just can't wait will the movie be in Australia and can u buy it on your website?

  • @silverwolf184 We plan to have it available via the web, and it should be region free, so the Austrailian release will be the same as all the other English-language releases :)

Going by the story reel, the movie should run about 1:30.

  • Oh sorry forgot it said it couldn't even tell what year it comes out and will the website tell us when it's done? Or will u put the movie in YouTube?

  • @silverwolf184 We'll definitely let everyone know the date in every manner possible when the time comes :) We're planning (at least) announcements on our site, YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter -- and any other ways we discover in the meantime to keep in touch with fans.

  • Oh MY GOD!!! I just can not wait and know it doesn't have a release date but what year like 2011 or 2012 please give me a rough date and will the DVD be available in Australia? I am so exited to see it and u call that a rough that's amazing and I like the character silver and I like indigo and were are you making the film in America? Australia? And nice job I watch it like every day!!!!

  • @silverwolf184 Since we're all volunteer we don't have a release date (hard to estimate when you can't calculate working hours :) ) We have people on staff from all over the world, though we're based in the US.

  • hey, if i may ask, do you have a wolf quest account?

  • wow that was good it looked cool and i hope i can see more of it some time

  • i liked the part where they were eating it and silver stretched the skin. xD

  • Looks great. I think the only commentary I have is the line art. The colored style looks nice on Silver and blends well with the background artwork. I'd suggest that you do colored line art for the rest of the characters as well, including the elk. The black lines on him distract from the background, making him seem as though he came form another movie rather then the same one. If you were to color the lines and blend him in more, I'm sure it'll look perfect :)! Good luck on the project :D!

  • ur really good!!!!

  • hey when are u getting the film out! I want more!

  • @teewiz77 It's difficult to say, due to the volunteer nature of the project. I recommend reading the most recent entry in our staff blog (available on our forum, which is linked to from our Channel; wish I could post links in comments) for more details on why that's the case.

  • @silverskystudio thanks!

  • what is the series?

  • @rdsj20 It's not a series; it's a feature-length film. More information is available in our channel, and on our website(linked to from our channel; YouTube won't let anyone post links)

  • OMG thats amazing

  • this is gonna be a real movie..can't wait :D

  • OMGoodness! THAT IS AWESOME!

  • When does the full movie come out, and where? I went to the website but i didn't find a link or anything. Is it just going to be on Youtube or is it like a REAL movie that we can see in theaters or on TV?

  • @jazzyminimomo We don't have a release date yet, but it will be a real movie. It's unlikely to make theaters, since we're independent, but it will be available on DVD. Proceeds go to wolf preservation.

  • @silverskystudio REALLY!!! HOLY CRAP!!!! I will buy it when it comes out!!!!

  • whats the series called?!

  • this reminds of promise of the wolves haha t first i thought it was haha its a great book =)

  • this is like the coolest animation i've evar seen!

  • :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

  • Wow, you animated this ? I thought this was like, from a movie :O I mean it! I really hope I can be a voice actor some time in your series ^.^

  • Why do they waste the buck or moose they just killed? VERY good video but I find it strange to just waste a life like that. But hey, I'm not complaining this was a cool animation :) what program do u use? I haven't made an animation b-4 so I guess u can call me a beginner. What kind of program that's for FREE do u recommend me to use?

  • @owlninja993 When the entire film comes out, you'll know why they left :) Short answer is that Janus is paranoid, but there's more to it than that.

I can't recommend an "animation program" because there's really no such thing -- you should learn to animate by hand before diving into computer-aided-drawing. But as a tool to help you compile your animations, I suggest Monkey Jam.

  • @silverskystudio lol nice

    kk thanks dude:)

  • ur an epic animator!!! Its so smooth! I sware its like it was done by a professional!!! wait... are u? cuz if u arent, u should be!!! That was awesome!!!

  • r u like making this into a movie or show or something????? cuz id definatly buy this if it is/ will be a movie!!!!!!!!

  • omg i thought this was a real show, so anyway who does your backgrounds? are are truley amazing! <3 please reply and also may i use them?

  • @daynasorcutemoxy1 Tarkah does our background (you can track her down at our forum). They are not for use outside of the Wolf project.

  • @silverskystudio ok, could you PM me the link? and one last question does she do it for free?

  • omg it was SUPER good!

  • This is wonderful! I can't wait to see the movie. And thank you for posting this; It inspired me to start animating.

  • WOW!! you know the chars are like walking along the background images how do you do that do you make one very long image or? xxx <3 plz reply ^^

  • @Alphajekka22 The pans? Yep, long images. Or at least images that are bigger than the camera area. You animate the characters over the background, then you take and pan the whole mess in front of the camera.

  • Epic! You don't like blood though do ya?

  • @Sandleaf1011 Not so much that we don't like blood as it is that we haven't discovered a way to animate it both realistically and effectively. If you watch predators feed, there's not the gushing explosion of blood like everyone likes to draw (and that is, essentially, no different from animating opaque red water). In fact, about the most you'll see is this weird spiky pink look going on in the muzzle fur. That's incredibly hard to reproduce without it being impractical...

  • @Sandleaf1011 (Cont'd. Blast word limits.) ...or looking like the wolves are wearing lipstick. So, year, it's on the list of things to figure out!

  • THIS IS REALLY GOOD! Ever consider making an actual movie?

  • This looks like a real part of a movie or TV series. Excellent.

  • @CalicoCat56 because its going to be a movie

  • wgo does the voice of the brown alpha? i love it

  • @Linzspat92 Mathew Schmidt does the voicework for Janus.

  • @silverskystudio well its awesome. hes so talented

  • AWESOME

  • My only critique would be to work on renaming the characters to less cliche names. Silver? Star? Way too common and obvious....

Janus is fine. But the others need more work. Consider it. ^^

  • @Metroid4ever All recording has been done, so there will be no name changes at this time.

You might be interested in the thread "Names?" on page 6 of the subforum "Movie Talk" on the Wolf forum (sorry I can't give you a direct link here; youTube doesn't allow them in comments. The link to the forum is on our channel page, though.) where we talk more about this.

  • naw who cares there just friken names its the rest that counts

  • Looks like a Don Bluth animation!

anyone who dislikes this should watch something else!

    But I love it! :D

  • ur soooooo frickin goood!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • WOW i couldnt find a decent wolf animation since goldenphoenix101. YOURE AMAZING! I have a sucky animation. (Wolf Animation Part 1)

  • man your lucky you can do stuff like this

  • AMAZING! This took a year to make? You obviously put a ton of effort into it ^^

btw what art program did you use? Photoshop?

  • that was amazing almost like somthing a pro film :D awsome deffo checking ur link!!!

  • quick question /how/ long did it take to make this?

  • @Spartarockz3000 rather longer than we would have liked (about a year, discounting preproduction work).

Animation itself is moving far faster these days, though we're low on inkers, so that step's holding things up now.

  • @silverskystudio I would love to help of course, just too much stuff to fill out

  • @silverskystudio what exactly do inkers do? ive ur website and im still confused

  • @Bucklover4 They create smooth lineart from our rough animation. Generally they use the pen tool in Photoshop to do this, though we've got a couple other methods. Basically, if you watch some of our progression videos, they turn the first step into the second step.

  • Everything was awesome! The voices and well everything!

  • my fav vid on youtube

  • awesome job! i love the voice of the father.

  • O_O What did you use to make this? Its amazing!

  • how do you make this it's amazzing!!1

  • wow great voice acting.... till silver started talking

  • You are so good, I love watching your videos.

I'm so jealous of the way you animate!

  • you should add some more blood next time

  • @kerowolf10 That wouldn't be realistic. Unless it's teeth are really, REALLY sharp, a wolf will never draw blood on the first bite. It would take a few minutes of chewing before any blood could be seen, their teeth aren't sharp enough.

  • Awesome, though I do think the elk's legs kind of look green at 0:21 and they seem a bit hard to distinguish from the background.

  • Aniboom is not free is it?

  • love it but have one question why did they have to leave?

  • C: this reminds me of watership down for some reason.. really nice.

  • awesome animation I love it.

  • WHOA! you are awesome at animating! what program did you use to animate this?

  • hi nice whhats your site where put ur epsisodes?

  • @daynasorcutemoxy1 We're not putting up episodes. We've got full details on what this is all about on our channel.

  • ya, why did they have to leave the kill, please answer id really like to know, awesome vid by the way

  • amazing!!! Make a serial please!! :3 BIG APPLAUSE FOR YOU!!!! *woohoo* *clap clap clap clap!!*

  • wow this is so awesome i love the black wolf especially with the scar on his eye

  • This animation is amazing, I cannot judge it. But its not realistic, wolves don't hunt the big bull, they can't kill it that fast, and thye don't all eat at once...I'm jsut pointing it out, it should be more realistic.

  • @Smileypenguin123 It's not perfectly realistic, true. A couple of things to think on... one is that wolves do indeed hunt injured bulls if they think they have a shot at it, and this bull is injured; another is that they didn't eat the entire thing, Janus makes them leave when they've barely opened it.

The last thought I'll leave you with is that several hours of animated wolves trotting behind an elk tiring it out would be rather boring ;) Even the documentaries don't show how it really is.

  • @silverskystudio

true, but what is this animation for anyways, a TV show?

  • @Smileypenguin123 A full-length feature film -- there's more about it on the website (linked from our channel page here; Youtube annoyingly doesn't let you post links in comments)

  • WOW!!!! Thumb this up if u think this is absolutely amazing!

  • Wonderful. I have an animation myself, but I made in ms paint and mouse. Video of hulk animation.

  • so draw the frames on paper and scan them in?

  • @Wolfie9149 Yep, that's how it's done. Then the scanned frames are traced in PhotoShop (or an equivalent program)

  • @silverskystudio That must've been hard work! This is truely a work of art, you are an exellent animator, I must say.

  • HOLLY STARCLAN!!!!!! This looks like a real cartoon! Amazing job on-- everything! All of the ppl who didn't like it MUST'VE not known u did all this yourself, not to mention don't know what's good... I'm not posting this for 'likes', I'm posting this because I think your video is #1 awesome!!!

  • Very good animation!

  • this could be a great child movie!.Great work!!!

  • you realy good

  • wow that amazing

  • o.o...your really good, nice job =o

  • this is cool i see you site and i like it !

  • Wow! It looks really great! Watching this, I enjoyed it! :D

  • How far are you in making the film and when will it be released?

  • AMAZING!!!

  • oh my gosh ! my animations aren't so good... good job ! ! !

  • That was amazing, really! I really, truely felt like i was watching a cartoon/show! The audio needs a bit of work though, but just a bit. :)

  • This is actually very good! If it was on TV I know I would watch it.

  • This was abosououtly amazing!

This is better than most traditional animation on TV today!

  • =D AMAZING!

  • oh wow! Super cool!

  • i thought thid was a tv show

  • @daynasorcutemoxy lol mr too!

  • what programs did you use? this is amazing !!!!! :D

  • @Kyuubi1161 the program isn't important -- any enterprise level video editor can put together hand drawn frames -- but if you want to know details, a summary of what we use is on our site and in our profile.

  • wow awesome animetion, music and voiceover. VERY NICE ^^

  • You know I love this and I was trying to put my finger on what was wrong, just that there's no shadows. But then again it is a rough cut isn't it? You did a fabulous job on this. Please show us more!

  • WOW!! WOW thhis was AMAZING!!!!

  • i will never be this good, awesome vid!!

  • amazing. simply amazing. i am trying to do my first animation fully now and it is taking forever. i admire your patience.

  • cool

  • Your amazing, but if I could change anything, I'd make the wolf's legs a tad bit longer. Other than that, your just... wow... :)

  • brilliant. outstanding. mindblowing.

  • OH MY GOOOOOOOSH. this is awesome. SO AWESOME.

When you guys are through with this, I can't wait to watch it!

  • awesome!!!

  • That was awesome I love it!

  • Are you going to make one big animation episode or just keep doing scenes and rough cuts? This is really good by the way.

  • @Starwolf411 These are all part of a full length film. The entirety will not be released to YouTube, though. Details on why are in our profile if you visit the SilverSkyStudio channel.

  • Awesome!

  • cool

  • stretchy deer meat lol love the video nice

  • nice...

  • Amazing, keep it up!

  • did you do tweeining for this or frame by frame animation?

  • @stopoverbreeding I'm going to make an assumption about your question here, so correct me if I'm wrong. I'm guessing your asking if we used computer-aided tweening, or hand-drew the tweens? (because filling in the frames between each key is called "tweening" no matter whether it's done by a person or a machine) We do not use computer aided drawing for character animation, so all the tweens here were hand done. We may end up using computer particle animation for effects though.

  • this was an awesome animaion! what all did u use to make it?

  • brilliant

  • at first i thought the elk were horses its that good

  • lol, the crows laugh at the wolves in the end

  • Your good at this! And you're cool!

  • trop bien fait !

  • Why did they have to leave???

  • wow you have inspired me to make something of my own!! such beautiful animation!! I love it! though i would love to see the rest

  • I am SO SO impressed with this! Its going to absolutly fantastic :)

I hope that I can join you one day! I'd love that since I do a lot of animating myself...mainly horses, but thats adjustable! XD

So I'm curious as to what programe you use to put the animations together :)

Good luck, and keep up the awesome work!

    Thanks x

  • The backgrounds are beautiful. Must remember to start practicing them sooner rather than later...

  • Cannot wait for the finished product of this.

  • better animation than anyone else I know (Including myself) Love the video, the music is epic... hold on...EVERYTHING IS EPIC IN THIS VIDEO!

  • dude....awesome!

  • WHERE IS THE NEXT SCENE!!!! i havz to see it!!! T-T *sniff*

  • @linkfreak210 We will not be releasing the entire thing for free. Please read just why that is in our channel bio.

  • do you thiiink you could send me a how-to-draw wolvvess in your style, liike a page or vivideo or somethiing, cuz ii would really like to help, f only could draw like you ^^

  • @beakling1 We don't have a how to draw tutorial. Feel free to use any of the artwork on our site (link is on our profile; YouTube won't let me post links in comments) as a reference.

  • wolves are cool

  • poor bull elk. awesome animation!

  • Why did they have to leave after the kill?

  • Wow...How did you DO that? I'm working a wolf movie, too, an nothing I have looks like this! Great work!

  • @AshWolfForever They are making an acutall movie, you know, that will be in theaters...so they have a lot of workers.

  • @Wulvez No, I didn't. That's very cool. Thanks for the info.

  • noooooooo! WHY CRUEL WORLD?!
