My great grandfather would have been 88 this year. He was a veteran of WWII, a family man, and a loving and devoted father. He was a signalman with the Essex Scottish Regiment who died of a heart attack Friday, March 7th, 1994 in Wageningen, Holland. every year on his birthday i visit his grave and have one-way chats with him and before i leave i always play amazing grace with tears streaking down my face on my bagpipes for a soldier who truly endured. For William Wing, a truly good soldier.

My cousin died back in February, two days before Valentine's Day. He was a fireman explorer and wanted to go to EMS school. So many chiefs and firemen showed up as well as friends. The Father said in over 4000 funerals, he's never seen that many people, and for an 18 year old as well. We had a police escort and one bagpipe player. I think of him when I hear this. Now I know why my step dad tears up when he hears TAPS. Brings back memories.
