The Castles were used for something that we are not supposed to know about. Thats why we have the Dark Ages!!!

That's not quite right. "The Dark Ages" are called that because we're in the dark about it. Most of the evidence materials were organic such as wood and leather. These tend to break down leaving little to no remains in order to locate and date.
