I love the British Museum. I've spent many days there. The egyptian section is my favourite. What were the egyptians into? I'm learning the answer to that question. Unfortunately, the last time I was there, the section containing Dr. John Dee's artifacts was under renovation.
The central structure in the Great Court isn't modern, it dates from the 19th century. It's the Reading Room but it's currently being used to house temporary exhibitions. It only looks modern due the stone work added when they opened up the Great Court.
I love the British Museum but it's just too packed now. I used to be a regular visitor but haven't been for a few years now because there are so many people which makes it difficult to see things properly.
@Nemie125 Why don't you go during the week when it's quieter? Either during the day or on Thursday or Friday evening when the museum is open late. Also, consider becoming a member, like me, which comes with a range of benefits, including regular open evenings where you can wander around the permanent collection with hardly anyone else in there! There's always a range of gallery talks, lectures and other activities arranged too!
Take a look at the membership fees! That's why there are SO many young people in the BM! As an Under 26 Member of British Museum Friends, you will receive all the benefits of full membership, but at a special reduced rate. Seems the older you are the more you have to pay. This country benefits anyone who is not born here or is very young or both. £20 Young Friends Membership Ages 8-15 years. Good video and coverage for BM though.
thanx for the tour. i'd love to visit too.. :0

I love the British Museum. For me was a tragedy that I had only two free days in London in business trip. I want to come back over there.
