@rvbCabooservb So far, I have only used the dry spice packets, but in the future, I plan to use whole meat and marinade it with the recipe from the dehydrator manual.
VERy nice video. Lots of information. NOw, I'm going to order one of these from Amazon, my gosh, I almost bought the Oster that is being sold at the local Wally World. BIG MISTAKE that would have been. So, how are you going to store these? Do you have a Food Saver VAcuum system? That would prolly be the best thing. What do you think, for longterm storage.
@chivone21 I usually store the jerky in my belly. If I had the will power to store the jerky long term, I would use my FoodSaver Vacuum Sealer. Be sure to watch my 2 part video on the FoodSaver V2840 -- it works great.
It costs like $10 to buy less than a pound of pre-made jerky. This video convinced me to go out and get a dehydrator and jerky gun, and boy has it saved me lots of money! In my opinion it also tastes a lot better than big-name jerky! Great vid, and thanks for the tutorial!
Good video, very informative! I just ordered the gun, mainly for backpacking jerky/protein. Have you experimented with other grounds yet? Turkey, chicken? Curious to how those turn out. Also, have you tried adding liquid seasoning? Does that make it too wet?
@CatchJanice I have only tried beef so far, but I hope to try other meats in the future. So far I have only used the seasoning packets in the kit, but there is a liquid seasoning recipe in the dehydrator book that I plan to try when I run out of seasoning packets. Thanks for your comments. I'm glad you like the video.
Please don't eat ground beef. It's the parts of the animal we really shouldn't be eating and it supports an industry we really don't want to support. Try to get organic grass fed beef or better yet, wild venison. At the very least, use lean meat.
I'm sure glad I have the Nesco Gardenmaster.. Don't have to do any of this.. no need to rotate trays or anything... Lot nicer dehydrator.. I can do 2 pounds of beef in about 4 hours.. love it!!
After watching your video, I was very excited to try dehydrating jerky. I had just purchased dehydrator at a Goodwill store for only five dollars and I thought about what better way to learn how to use it than to go to Utube. Thank you so much for the instructions, they were plain and clear to the point of it being " stupid easy" as my girl Paula D would say. Thank you so much,
i usually put my jerky in my dehydrator for about 5-7 hours then i throw it in the over on a baking tray for about 15min at 320. it helps drain the grease. but yours looks really good.
That is a great little system you got there! thank you for showing! do you think it would do that for veggies as well? or is that just for meat? I want an all perpose one, and that one looks real great!
do you not marinade yours?
