  • Monster tone!

  • Way to rock it bro. Sad to read that this dude passed. He fuckin ripped it while he was here. Nice to see people that play with emotion and passion.

  • Say hi to chuck for us indeed. RIP brother.

  • could you put a tab for this? please?

  • @Laughingantelope37 He died over a year ago, so you wont get a tab from him but you are on the internet so i'm sure you can just google it

  • God, that dude played fast, accurate creative and aggressiv.

    R.I.P.

  • wow dude you absolutely raped that song. nice job

  • you should do scavenger of human sorrow

  • yeah man, this is fokking cool!

I even recognize myself in this :)

  • Check out my guitar cover of this and man you rule at bass!

  • would it be possible for you to learn suicide note pt. 2 by pantera? that would be sweet

  • One of my favorite songs. Again, that tone is fucking sweet!!!

  • Hate the song!

  • whats with the cap??

  • realy good BTW!!!!

  • @MintSkate honestly, for most death metal, i would approve of a pick. it just sounds more metal to me. of course i play fretless so the sound isnt that different either way. :P

  • try convincing david ellefson of that, I think you'll be quickly proven wrong

  • Dude picks are great in metal, the sound, especially for Death Metal like this, is perfect, yeah perhaps in say Metallica it's not as good as Cliff Burton's sound, but that suited them, and picks suit Death, along with other metal bands like Motörhead, Slayer, Megadeth, Venom and more, its what sounds better and ultimately its down to personal opinion

  • @MintSkate Tom Araya isn't metal?

  • I find it hard to believe that such an amazing bass player (in my opinion, the best improvising bassist on YouTube) has left us. As a fellow bassist myself, I was greatly mesmerized by your performance of 'Pull the Plug' by Death. I actually found myself enjoying your cover more than the actual song. Even when I'm listening to the original version, it is your bass lines that come to mind. Truly saddened by your death. RIP - Nesh from Singapore ( Yes Rob, you do have fans from all over!)

  • Aw man that sucks to hear. When did he die?

  • RIP...now both they play in heaven..

    what a playing!!!!

    only the good die young!!!!

  • NICE!

  • RIP man,

Say hi to Chuck for us...

  • death metal on a rickenbacker fuckin rad man

  • i wanna see you without your pick!!!

  • YO I AM UR BIGGEST FAN IRONFIST can you cover 1000 eyes or symbolic or crystal mountain....pretty much any song from the symbolic album or all :)

  • I'm sorry, but Symbolic is under the WMG umbrella, and those tunes are not safe to do yet. Sufficed to say, once they are available again, tunes off of Symbolic may very well make my list. I apologize for the problem.

  • SIC dude......your Pull The Plug is the best fucking cover out there i cant wait for more

  • Ahh man, classic tune dude!!! if you do another Death song, please do Choke On It or Secret Face, Thanks!!!

  • Choke on It is actually on my list.

  • Sick!!! thanks.

  • what's the tuning for this?

  • D standard

  • dude you ARE SO SUPER GOOD. you are my god. could you please cover some more death songs? maybe spirit crusher? thx for all your vids i'm subscibing

  • Alright enough! I now have too many requests to play more Death that I can no longer ignore them. Prepare for some more Death soon, I'll grab a few tunes and give 'em a whirl.

Sheesh you guys are hard to ignore :)

  • thank you very much :)

  • wow thats all i got to say.............

  • tabs plz ??

  • I am envious of your RIC....

  • Kickass man.

Check out my video response of me playing it on guitar..

  • Sick cover man!!!

  • CHUCK SCHULDINER!!!

  • lol dude, nice cover, you should try spirit crusher :D

  • I'd kill to see you play The Philosopher on a fretted bass.

  • Oh Hell Yeah!! Spiritual Healing was one awesome album, and this is my favorite track... God, the tone you have, badass indeed. Awesome job... now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go throw my guitars out the window...

  • This song is from Leprosy...

  • Doh! You're right, it is off of Leprosy! Damn, next I'll be saying Murphy played piccolo guitar...

  • Lmfao, don't beat on yourself over it, just a slip of the tongue.

  • Dude this song is from leprosy not spirtual healing lol leprosy FTW.

  • uh, yeah. I've already been informed of my slip. I blame old age, reality television and fluoride toothpaste.

  • Nice cover, beautiful Burgundy rick =) (been wanting one for a little while now).

got one question, what is it that you did for that fill around 3:00?

    Once again, great cover

  • I played a four note pattern over a four fret spread in two descending keys on the whole notes. It looks like myxlydian, but I am no expert in things like scales. In short, I just made it up on the spot, and probably would play something else there the next time. 95% of my fills are on-the-spot improvisations.

  • Cool, once again great cover.

  • Great playing! Just curious, is your 4001 Fireglo or Burgundy? It's kind of hard to tell....

  • It's a burgundy.

  • I hope you have a fretless bass, because I would love to see a cover of The Philosopher, or maybe just stick with Lack of Comprehension/Leprosy/Spiritual Healing.

  • What does LRRG mean?

  • living room rock god

  • Thanks.

  • My favorite Death track, well bassed!

  • Oh, I forgot (somehow...). Really insane cover, dude. You'd have made Chuck proud with this.

  • Hey, can you put up some more Death covers? Preferably Lack of Comprehension or The Philosopher? I don't care, anything by Death is fine with me, those are just 2 of my favorites.

  • Lemmy...

  • oh yeah lemmy too. does he use a pick?

  • lemmy? ya he he used to be a guitarist for another band the switched to bass

  • Al Cisneros.

  • fucking awesome what kind of bass is that?

  • Its a Rickenbacker 4001. also, for my amp, I use a direct recorder instead with a digitech BP80 processor.

  • awesome your insane at bass i love ur slayer and megadeth covers

  • how do you have your EQ set up?

  • ohhh thats a nice chunky bass. "why hello from the nether world of vista" hahaha. Did i mention sick ass bass?

  • Great cover! You should try some more death songs like sacred serenity or any song off of symbolic or ITP

  • that riff at 1:37 fuckin amazing

  • You should do more classic speed metal. Excellent work !

  • i love death!!! your tone really fits the song well

  • i enjoy your clip with a coffe and a donuts, magnificent man, favs to thisclip

  • fuck yes. this is brutal as shit! love it!

  • fucking brutal

  • man this was awesome. more death songs please!

  • nice fat sound!!

  • Primus is one of my all time favorite bands, but some times, you just need some freaking METAL!

    Great Job!

  • I haven't even finished the video yet. I have to definitely commend you for playing with a Rickenbacker on a Death song.

  • And I think it sounds pretty brutal

  • bad ass rendition bro!! Death kicks ass. we all miss em.

  • though thrash is my favorite, this is a fucking great band

  • DEATH YEAA!!!!!!!! This is fantastic man 5 stars!I read somewhere you like necrophagist, it'd be incredible if you could put some of thier stuff up. Seven would be nice.. or fermented offal discharge with that nifty bass tap doodle near the beggining. Any of their stuff really, im sure you've got it in you.

  • youtube sucks since google bought them,i got account warning for diesel jeans commercial because its inappropriate according to them.

anyway, man you kick so much ass! \m/

  • Wow! That was insane!

  • That....was....amazing! This is such a great cover!

  • Outstanding song, you rock. You have professional bass skills. I wish I could play bass half as good as you.

  • Brutal cover, love playing this song, but in guitar though, you did a good job, Chuck is god!

  • Yeah, Death! My favorite death metal band as well, they were very good!

  • nice tone

  • YES A DEATH COVER!!

Death is my favorite death metal band. Great cover. I love your playing. You actually look like you are having fun unlike most of youtube...

  • HE DOES!!! and awsome job!

  • did i ever tell you you look like randall from clerks?

  • Not sure you have ever told me, but I've heard it from a number of people. It seems to be the consensus. I have mixed feelings bout since I do not act like him much at all...although I am a smart-ass at times.

  • Clerks!!!

  • dammit i was gonna say that.

    dick

  • When are u going to do Spawn of Possession - Dead & Grotesque? :)

  • I dunno if you're a fan of it, but could you do more of like..Thrash Metal? Seeing as you already have some Megadeth, why not play some songs from other Thrash bands?

  • Depends on which Thrash band. Some I simply do not like, usually for vocalist reasons. Others for political reasons. And one more because their music makes me sad.

These are the thrash bands I will do...at least how I define thrash: Destruction, Death, DBC, Coroner, Sodom, Megadeth, Sepultura...and yes, a bit of Exodus. Perhaps a touch of Overkill and Testament.

I do have some Coroner tunes that you might want to check out, though.

Sorry I'm such a picky bastard.

  • If you don't like a band for political songs, then why Peace Sells?

I'm not sure how Death is Thrash. They take thrash qualities from bands like Slayer and Kreator, but they're not really.

Sodom, you should do songs like Agent Orange, M-16, Nuclear Winter. Exodus, definitely do Bonded By Blood. As for Testament, Trial By Fire, or Souls of Black.

Speaking of Kreator, you probably don't like them, but if there is a song, there's a song called Betrayer from Pleasure to Kill I wanna say.

  • No, it is not the political songs that I do not like, but their stance on the RIAA.

I am horribly bad at the new categories of metal. Back then it was all considered thrash metal of some degree. The new distinctions still throw me off.

All of your tune suggestions are great. I will see what I can do. Kreator is okay, but I'm not that familiar with them yet.

  • Could you give examples?

Everything is just so..specifically categorized that my head keeps spinning.

Kreator a teutonic thrash band (think Sodom) that had albums such as Pleasure to Kill and Coma of Souls, they changed their direction into a more goth/death feel. After some albums they went back to thrash. The last album, Enemy of God, and the album before that, Violent Revolution, are supposedly the couple of albums that reverted back to thrash with some death/goth metal elements.

  • The examples I've given are the ones I know that I put into the thrash category. From what you wrote, you know far more about this stuff categorically than I do. I just play.

  • Even my knowledge is limited. I was born in the early 90s with around..four years with the guitar, and I just got into this like...a year or so ago. I bet there are people who are far more versed in it than I, but I don't wanna seem like I'm degrading myself as such. I love thrash, and I hope thrash will love me after what I'm going to do.

  • if you're gonna do any kreator you need to do voices of the dead. it has a great bass chord/tapping intro that i would like to see. also no one seems to do anything with it so it would be cool to see a cover.

  • My friend, you are a great bass player. Keep on making DEATH METAL covers you kick ass at it!!

  • Death used to be considered thrash didn't it? like possesed?

  • No.

  • very nice sound...

who is your pental and bass?

  • Bass is a 1974 Rickenbacker 4001, pedal is a Digitech BP-80.

  • Sounds good!!

My band EXTINCTION plays this song also

of you like oldschool death metal visit my page and listen when we play Pull the plug

    /DEATH METAL hail chuck!!

  • I just saw you guys. Great stuff! Bring me back to the day when that type of thrash was as heavy as it got. I used to drink it up like wine.

  • you rule that bass. could you do "to forgive is to suffer" that song should be simple to do by ear...but are they removing primus covers from youtube or what?

  • They are....and it frankly pisses me off.

I wrote to Prawnsong about it, and Prawnsong says they are not responsible and actually want to help stop the removals. The only problem is that Primus is owned by UMG, a gigantic corporation, and Prawnsong is not going to be able to do much.

So Les' side-projects are all I'm going to do from now on.

  • my favorite les claypool side project is the frog bragade- if you would cover them you would become my hero =P

  • That Death tune I am not familiar with, but I took a quick listen. I will see what I can do...these new tunes I haven't heard have to be memorized by repeated mp3 playing before I try to play it on the actual instrument. It's my "process".

  • yeah i could see doin something by ear could take a while but its pretty straight forward

  • I can't see your hand at :44 wtf!!!Awesome!

We need to do a collab!!!!! pick the tune!

    Froggs

  • Uhhh....what genre?

    Death metal?

    Funk?

    Power Metal?

    Acid Jazz?

  • Computer trouble?? looks more like you were working on your pipes. :)

And more metal from ya. its already hard enuff to pass my classes without spending hours listening to you play bass

  • hey any chance u can cover job for a cowboy entombment of a machine?

  • that would be sick thats a amazing song!

  • woah ive heard of death before but never listened to them but damn this song rocks and awesome cover!!!

  • Really cool bass.

  • Sorry to hear about your Primus videos being taken down man, you do some really good stuff. Great cover btw! If you have the effects, you should try and cover Anesthesia: Pulling Teeth. I think you could do wonders with it! Take care!

  • Espectacular hermano, espectacular!

  • Amazing, dude!

  • YES!!! Dude you fucken shred!!! This is such a sick song...keep it up bro...

  • I'm only 18 years old, so a lot of these old, underground thrash/death metal bands are very new to me. But seriously dude, thank you for mentioning Coroner in a response to me earlier. They went from unheard of to one of my favorites in less than a week.

  • That is one awesome band you just sunk your teeth into. Coroner inspired my playing early on, which is why I am so noodly when I play bass. Well, them and Maiden.

  • Awesome Indeed, I must've listened to Masked Jackal 200 times yesterday. LOL

  • UMG jacked my videos too!

  • Yes, they are evil bastards who want to carve a niche for themselves on youtube by eliminating competition for views with legal intimidation. It has been a hot topic of discussion on the LRRG boards lately. Not only is this not welcome, but the bastards deserve to have their reputation dragged through the mud for it.

They claim that they are protecting the musicians, but in most cases the musicians are not even aware of what UMG is doing and are against it once they find out.

  • Its just like the old tab controversy a couple years ago, when hosting tabs was illegal on websites because music publishers claimed it was stealing the artist composition when in reality it was a persons interpretation of a song used to teach others how to play their take on it. It's no different than teaching the song in person except you don't have to travel around the world teaching your audience.

  • Look at my new video about my new dog, UMG wants me to take it down after.. like what, 1 minute of a police song used in it?

  • You're definitely my favorite youtube bass player, nobody can shred like you.

thenagain, why should I limit it to only youtube?

  • Of all videos, this is the best equalization you achieved on that beautiful burgundy 4001, keep up the good work dude!

  • Thanks....I'll definitely try to remember my settings. The borrowed computer is much better than my old one, so it could also be a USB thing, too.

  • Death?? Dude your the best!!!! This song is heavier with bass, cant believe they downmixed it!!! RIP Schuldiner

  • LOL...they almost ALWAYS down-mix the bass in death/thrash metal. Sad, really, because there are a lot of talented bass players in those genres.

  • what strings, amp and amp set up do you use(treble, bass etc...)

  • Most of my equip can be found on my channel page. I set up with strong bass, medium mid-tones, and low treble. Of course, each bass sounds different, so each must be EQed differently to get the same sound.

  • Haha. Thought you'd died or something. Been missing you and your bass on my screen. Damn that's fast playing. Can't wait for some other new videos. Bring on the heavy!

  • Wow too fast :)!!! Great job, keep rocking man!!!

  • \m/

  • You are just... So fast... And you still have the emotion in your rock. Maybe you'll get to rock more Primus in the future, but until then I will enjoy the heavier side of The LRBG (bass god).

  • Hey man, i was startin to think you had abandoned youtube eh. Shame about your Primus vids, what excuse did they give for pulling them?

So where have you been man?

Man that is some fast picking at about 2 mins, thats crazy stuff i dunno how you can do it lol

Lookin forward to the next cover man

    5/5

  • Amazing cover. You can play anything. It's really cool to see a bass player into technical bass stuff like Les Claypool, and into speed/death/thrash metal

  • My feelings are so hurt.

I know what will make me feel better!

    *plonk*

Come back when you emotionally grow past Jr. High, kiddo.

  • i forgot you existed! now im happier than ever to see opne of my influences back and alive!....seeing as i thought you were dead! like the last time when you busted your camera! but awesome to see death metal getting sum much needed attention! You should've moved on to the heavier stufgf earlier! Lets see sum Cannibal Corpse!

  • Hi, how are doing?

    wow! another excellent bass video!!!

    I enjoyed!! what a talent! 10 points!

    have a new piano?

remember I say "you isnpired me"? well, I post another bass video.

    have a great week!!!

    -Ale-

  • hey man, do u thing you could play some Athiest, id love to see you doing one of them, i havent heaqrd much from them but i hear the bass is very out there, great cover by the way, awesome song, keep it up

  • Awesome! You should do some Cynic covers next ;)

  • fuck, your primus cover were sooooo goood

  • Hardcore as ever man, good to have you back

  • It's good to be back....kinda depressing not being able to make vids.

  • NO death metal on the riaa?

    really?

    that's pretty cool

  • As far as I know, not one death metal band I have ever entered on the RIAA website (the one where you find out what bands are RIAA protected) came up positive. Death metallers like the free distribution so people show up at their concerts. It is as it should be.

  • bomb man

  • good ta have ya back zod, missed ya dude

  • Thanks. It's good to be back, that is for sure.

  • Now that was some metal bass playing right there! And I love that tone you get out of "Priscilla," plus your execution is tight. It's great to see you back in action. \m/

  • Heya Kyle! Nice to see you. Yup, I'm still kicking around in the fringes.

  • TRIBUTE IS NOT PIRACY!!! oh yeah ! great to see more vids!

  • It's a great line...thought of by the LRRGs own Mr. Pook.

  • good to see ya back, and im glad your mixin your videos up a little.

  • Yup...because I am not used to Priscilla's sound outside of standard tuning, I have stayed away from playing death metal (well, mostly), but the Primus video take-downs convinced me that some death metal is in order.

  • well yeah i get what your saying. personally i never really got in to death metal. I mean sometimes they got some good riffs and bass lines and whatnot but they just aint my style.
