  • ten years after.ooooohhh yehhhhhhh.

  • troppo figooooooo!!!!!! :)

  • This man is truly a fast guitarist. Malmsteen and Vai are fast in a linear way up and down the neck, but this guy is actually playing vertically, (opposed to horizontally) when the neck is parallel to the floor. Watch the video, do the geometry.

  • Born to boogie! :-)

  • Alvin Lee was pure raw energy. I was 16 when I first heard this. In the 70's, he definitely got his due! All of us guitar playing guys dreamed of being able to play "Choo-Choo Mama", "One of these days", or this lead solo from "I'm going home" with the same energy as he did. To this day this song rivets me.

  • I grew up with TYA pumping thru the house. After all these years (sic) I still fucking love this band! This is one of my all time fave driving tracks and Alvin is one of the true guitar greats.

  • Distant memories but I went to see them in 1969 @ The London Poly...absolutely brilliant

  • and THAT boys and girls is how you play the guitar rock on forever Alvin

  • Mas fino!!!!

Like Simon Newman´s performance from Venezuela. Si seraaaaaaaaaaaaassss!!

  • Mas fino!!!!

  • why was I born 1996!!!!!!

  • why i was born 1995!!!!!!

  • I can't believe how I forgot how good TYA with Alvin Lee was at Woodstock. Must be a sure sign of old age. This is so hot my fingers hurt just watching it.

  • un des groupes qui en a le plus"jeter" a woodstok 1969 !! javais 16 ans waouw!!

  • un des groupes qui en a le plus"jeter" a woodstok 1969

  • Alvin lee is the best!

  • This guy plays that thing like a HELL!!!

  • 've Just come home from the concert. It was again

    once a good concert

    WOODSTOCK LEGENDS !!!!!!!

  • @Depper: Just a side story. Tony of Mineola, Bob of Pompton Lks, NJ & I went to listen to a local band advtsng on radio with (we were sure was) a track from 3Dog Nite as theirs. We sat in at a club called Renfro's in Kansas. The small town band was called, KANSAS. Tony, Bob & I were also on the stage with THE JAMES GANG in a concert in Kansas. Be good my friend...enjoy the unprecedented music & aura of the 60's. :)

  • TO SET THE ROCK history record straight. It can easily be verified that Corky Laing did not fill in on drums with Ten Years After. Viewers should search youtube for Mountain posted by Chadman2000. There is a clear cover photo of Mountain band members taken in 1969. Corky Laing is NOT the drummer playing with Alvin Lee at Woodstock. Laing does not even resemble Tony of Mineola as Tony is shown in the TYA video.

  • @CYBERSURF88 You sir are a clown. You can stomp up and down and swear to Father Time and try to change history. But let me tell you what you are REALLY listening to here. Rick Lee's drumsticks broke during this live recording and he did not have a backup set available. Afterward, Ten Years After asked Corky to lay down drums and he did, for all 22 minutes. Research "Corky Laing - Stick It" sir and you are WELCOME.

  • @depper I've seen your comments on Mountain's page. You have an addiction to Mountain. You are a fool who fooled himself into ignoring the photo of the drummer in this TYA video. NO RESEMBLANCE TO CORKY LAING..dorko. Laing is not Italian...genius. You also reminded me of the backstory. Tony of Mineola, LI filled in for this TYA set, because the "person" who agreed to fill in...conveniently made himself "disappear," so that no one could find him (Corky Laing?). Sorry Mountain Maniac.

  • @CYBERSURF88 Be nice, or I will launch explosive diarrhea in you mouth!

  • ANYONE WHO WANTS to verify that Corky Laing did NOT play drums with Ten Years After at Woodstock, can google, "Corky Laing image" and it can easily be determine that it is not Laing in the video. Verification can also be made by going to Wikipedia and searching Laing and viewing the images. The drummer is Tony from Mineola, Long Island who was called by a friend to fill in on drums. The drummer helps with a laid back simple beat, allowing the entire focus to be on Alvin's mindblowing riffs

  • Woodstock august 1969......I bet a lot of kids were born may 1970 :-)

  • @simonshusse ...and incredibly, those kids would be 40 yrs old already!

  • About a million notes per second

  • True rock and roll.

  • Barry Z Levine captures this set with his post cards and T shirts from woodstock

check it out at woodstockwitness a dot com site

  • holy shit! I would be terrified to follow that.

  • man we need festials with good music like this today not hip hop or scremo but music with a message of peace

  • The GREAT Corky Laing of Mountain filled in on drums for this masterpiece. Corky is one of the hardest hitting drummers of all time.

  • Comment removed

  • @CYBERSURF88 Sorry, you are incorrect. Corky Laing verified on youtube that it was him who was asked to fill in. Now drop the pipe and stop acting like you know things when you don't...

  • @depper Corky Laing did NOT fill in for the drummer with Ten Years After in this breath taking-history's greatest performance of an electric guitar. Look at the photo of the drummer. It is NOT Corky Laing of Mountain. The drummer was a "last minute" panic call to get someone to fill in. The drummer is unassuming, no flash and look carefully, "conscious of his front teeth." The drummer was TONY of Mineola, Long Island. After Woodstock, my buddy Tony cut his hair & went to college

  • @depper All you need to do is freeze frame the drummer. It is NOT Corky Laing. Further, Corky Laing does NOT include any performance at Woodstock in his bio. I deleted Tony's last name from my earlier response, because it occurred to me that his privacy might be compromised. Tony's mom cried for him to "go to college." Tony cut his hair and went to college. Lastly, the drummer is not in Corky Laing's style either! Show me where Corky Laing takes credit for this gig and I will contact.

  • i would put my woodstock album on the turntable 30+ years ago to play this song and get fired up for a hs football game. one of the best ever live guitar/rock performances

  • THEE precurser to what would eventually result in Yngwie Malmsteen. Alvin Lee blew everyone away when it came to smokin' the plank.

  • dommage le son n'est pas très bon

  • wish i could have been there, unfortunatly i was born 20 years later lol

  • In many ways Alvin Lee's playing was beyond what most were doing at that time. Awesome!

  • @lsrproductionsfl He was the shit even 40 yrs.ago. Awsome

  • I saw the movie at university & it was this performance - not Hendrix, The Who or Canned Heat - which blew everyone away. Heard them whispering behind me : "Who is that guy". Just like sex .... strong intro, easy in the middle, then, let it all go towards the climax !

  • I think this version is a little diferente than the album version ...especialy in the 5.12 minutes of the song

    lets go compare

  • totally agree with ozric and jaws..alvin lee was a master at the axe. i was at woodstock..i was 10 but my sister dragged me there. i was cold and hungry most of the time but i remember this song like it was yesterday. i was mezmorized. made me learn the guitar. never as masterful as lee. but this song gives me goosebumps everytime i hear it

  • this is always fun to watch...good ole' Woodstock..will never be another..the bands of the sixties and seventies had personality and somthing to write about..today they are boring and whiny...

  • born in the wrong god damn generation!!

  • Comment removed

  • For all the wonderful people who missed it, the sixties were the bomb. But the music lives on.

  • I know he never got the same attention as the usual suspects, but anyone who lived, and enjoyed those magical days of music, sure knew....Anyone worth their shit, anyway.

  • My sister took me to a great New Orleans TYA concert 1972 for my birthday, they were just as hot! Chuck Berry opened for them, played a sweet sixteen rock n roll song. Those were the days when R&R was played raw.

  • Best guitar performance to me

  • i heard them in van bc 1970.

changed my life..didnt know yall cud play a guitar that fast

  • I saw Alvin Lee live as I was a teen and theres no words to describe the performance!

  • Definitely one of the greatest Performances from Woodstock. This and With a Little Help From my Friends by Joe Cocker. I wasn't there, but saw the movie at least a dozen times. I made my son watch this movie with me. And Jimi Hendrix's Star Spangled Banner, he was in awe. My ex was there, but got lost from his friends. Don't know how he found his way home & sometimes I wish he hadn't! I was only 14, and didn't hear about this until after it happened. If it was 2 years later, I woulda been there.

  • Freddie Mercury did a version of this with his band Ibex but it was called "We're Going Home"

  • awesome and that all i have to say

i was born 2 late and i missed this stuff

    dammit

  • If you notice he says "this is a song called im goin home by Helecopter". he said that cause he left woodstock on a helecopter and that is somethin know one hardly notices

  • Alvin Lee chingandole como mandan los cánones, GOOD BOY

  • first saw this 20 years ago when it was the 20th aniversary of woodstock, blew me away then and blows me away now.

    Mega!

  • Same here!

  • hey youve gotta try to post this video again cause the volume is too low and the vid was cut off unexpectedly.

  • one guitarist who never gets the same attention as hendrix clapton page but should check out my channel for more

  • @trevmm totally true but alvin lee stay one of the best.

  • The volume does not go up. Arghhhhh. I want this louder. And I want to go home. Thanks for posting anyway. Shake it baby shake.

  • WHAT HAPPENED TO THE END??

  • I was a lil mellow, and i saw that WOODSTOCK was on so i figured i had 2 watch it.

High or not this is best and single greatest experience of my life. I had this on FULL wack ( 45 watts )

This is just insane playing, holds the crowd well. and you really feel his adrenaline running thru you its like your there listening to this no matter how you are.
