@FranBro in support of your comment, the drummer/bass were probably the most sought-after session musicians of their time. Brzezicki is an astounding drummer. The list of bands they've played with is astounding. Mediocre? Whatever anyone thinks of BC, like/dislike mediocre is the last thing the musicians were.
If were to hear this without knowing anything about BC, I would never guess that Stuart was Scottish. It's interesting how as the band's musical style changed so did Stuart's accent, or at least I hear a difference.
Well put. I don't believe anybody lives or dies for nothing. Everybody has a purpose. Even if Stuart took himself out before totally fulfilling his particular purpose, he certainly didn't do too badly, eh? A man who brought that much happiness to people through his art should be remembered for that art, and not for the manner of his death. Only God knows the thoughts of the heart. Adamson was a troubled soul and I believe he is now continuing his journey to "find what he's looking for."
The live sections of this were filmed at the fan club convention at the royal holloway uni around 98/99 ? I was in that crowd. What a weekend that was.The question and answer session with the band was hilarious. The two hour live set was awesome. Happy memories indeed. Thanks for posting.
Stuart Adamson was one of this world's biggest musician.. A pretty underrated guitarist too.. I started listening to BC somewhere around 2003-2004, hell I would have payed all my money and wrnt to loan more if I could see them live... Got The final fling a couple of months ago, bought in Scotland =D
I am humbled by what I see of Big Country. I lived through the whole time of their music and I missed it all except for their first hit song. How do I feel? BAD. I missed out for sure. I would have seen them in concert. And believe me I have seen a lot!
Think they should have just done the live bit for the video - a good start with Stuart running but seemed to run out of ideas - suprised they didn't show the crowd, BC live were the best live band ever - assume this was what they were videoing with us at the Country Club Convention...
shame we didnt get to find out where this slightly diffent musical direction would lead us to in future years. this song has a serious groove going on.. fucking love it.
