  • There is a kid in my class who stutters and i laugh and smirk and i feel really bad but it is just funny where its suddenly like " m m m m m m m m m m m " as he gets stuck on m, i feel bad is there anything i can do? as saying something to him will probably make him feel worse

  • stuttering is not a crime

  • i can be social but i can't because of the stuttering i have... i can't tell jokes to make my friends laugh but when i tell them something i try to tell it as clearly as i can because i dont want to stuck and say ''i ne-ne-ne ed"... something like that... but i speak and a bit fast...

so GUYS SLOWER YOUR SPEACH and TALK TO THE MIRROR FOR PRACTISE

  • @Dirknowitzki4life Thanks, Dirk!

  • @CharlieChan007 your welcome dude !

  • I do not think one should learn to cope with one's stutter. It is rather a pessimistic approach to this condition. There are some very decent stuttering treatment available. One such treatment can found on naturaltherapyforstuttering -c-o-m.

  • IM 29 I STILL STUTTER I WAS HORRIBLE WHEN I WAS LIKE 6 THROUGH 13 THERAPY DID NOT WORK I HEARD THERE WAS SOMETHING CALL A SPEECH EASY DEVICE THAT GOES IN YOUR EAR AN EX STUTTER INVENTED

  • Have you heard about this? This is New with Very Positive Results. It is NOT a DAF Echo device, But a Natural Speech Therapy Tool called 'StutterFree'. It uses" Vocal Tone Technology" and is used at Home. It's called 'StutterFree' Oh, and Affordable.

  • Hello, im in 9th grade and i have a minor stutter that makes me sound dumb, even though i am one of the most attentive students in my classes. Last year i went through a "emo" phase because of this disorder lowering my confidence. But really i was just trying to stay in my comfort zone, by not getting involved in activities or even asking a stranger for something. But when ever i stepped out of my comfort zone to do these simple yet embarrising things, i felt much more powerful and happier.

  • i started at the age of 5 and now im 13 years old, will it grow out when i get older or will i have to cope with it and control it?

  • Hi ive had one all my life and im 33 now. It may just disappear as you get older. But a lot of folk dont :(

Its something you may have to live with my friend. But dont worry too much, you gotta learn to control it dude..

  • @marshy321ify hey broski

dont worry about it, it'll go away as soon as you stop worrying about it and gain self confidence.

i'm not gonna lie the sooner you stop caring about what people think. the sooner you will gain more confidence. get into sports, math and science. and make yourself take a challenge! its an internal battle... you must and will win.

you must do it when the fear kicks in! when you are afraid to talk.. you must do it! tell yourself that ! be mentally strong.!!!

  • Ur gonna have to work on something ;doesnt get better by sittingthere

  • Thanks, Mom.

  • I also don't stutter when I read poems by heart, cause I visualize the letters of the words (it really helps!!) and concentrate on my memory, not stuttering. sorry for to much comments but I just had a lot to say and I hope I helped some1 :)

  • Thanks for sharing!

  • I love acting or joking cause I don't stutter in comic situations, that's why I luv laughing too =). I''m a very emotional person so I think that maybe emotions (laughter, angriness, sadness) distract from the thought ''what if I'll stutter?'' and u don't stutter at all :) Course u can't cry or laugh all the time, but I don't stutter when I express, or talk about FEELINGS :D

  • I hate stuttering cause I love talking, I love meeting new people everywhere, and I would love to speak in public, I think I would have stuttered more often if I would have been an introvert.

  • @alwayssmilinggirl ,, i love talking too , but i do stuttering too ,,

  • do you know how much better life would be for the people that stutter if they didnt stutter. i stutter and hate it if i didnt stutter life would be so much better id be able to talk to people and anything with out being embarrassed and trying to hide the fact that i stutter. but i feel better talking to friends and people that i know. and im 15 i hope i out grow it soon.

  • You know, there are a lot of really eloquent speakers who stuttered as younger people. James Earle Jones is one.

  • @38intense I totally agree with you. I am 19 and I am scared that I might not be able to reach my goals with this thing. There's nothing good about it! Sometimes I just wonder why this had to happen to me. But I am trying to do the best that I can.

  • im16 and i stutter alot do you think that it will get better as i get older

  • There's no reason why you can't, if everything I read and understand about it is true. If it gets to the point that it really bothers you, see a speech therapist, and she what she can do.

  • Thanks

  • you don't stutter dude...

  • i stutter when i read allowed, no matter how many times i practice it and read it in my mind. i find smoking some herbs help the most!!

  • I love doing voices and vocal impressions! I grew up as a severe stutterer, but I find that when I'm doing comedy things or something related to theatre, the stuttering significantly declines. However, it's still hard and frustrating when I have to answer the phone or speak to someone I don't know very well.

  • That can be very stressful sometimes.

  • self confiedence help i stutter also sucks but thats just something that you gotta deal with but kids are cruel toward people that stutter

  • That's why a healthy dose of violence is a good cure for a lot of problems, it just helps to beat the living tar out of someone sometimes.

  • Studies have shown, I think, that there is only the brief feeling of improvement in such a case.

  • I'm 23 and I stutter. It sucks. When I was a kid it was bad but since I was a kid, it didn't really have a huge effect on my except for self-esteem. I also used humor as a way to make people like me. I always got in trouble at school, but it was worth it. But now that I'm an adult, it's overwhelming, because you're expected to do everything yourself and not many people have sympathy.

  • It can be hard, sst1. It's good to surround yourself with as many positive people as you can. You have the power within you to do great things!

  • I am 19 years old and fell like it's just getting worse and worse, I am blocking like crazy amounts different when I was a kid.

  • i have a spammer/stutter really bad i mean bad im 13 now i been going to speach therpy since 4 yrs old

  • and that doesn't pay off?

I'm reading a book of Oscar Hausdörfer (the Hausdorfer method) about stuttering.

It says that speech therapy is only about that what you already can: speaking. Speaking goes well but not with tension, so you have to learn to stay calm says the book. And don't avoid any speaking situation.

I'm buzzy with this, but it's very very hard when you stutter so badly , but sometimes the most easy way is to say noting but maybe that will make the stuttering even worse...

  • lolz erm my speach therpist sed to me lets take a yr off i sed ok my stammer was fine and it went from a 7 to a 3

  • The damage is already done, though i agree with everything you said in the video. Its just the long term effects that are caused by stuttering, are something overlooked by many.

  • Stuttering destroyed my childhood, and sonn after my life. The school days were the worse, i would stutter like crazy when reading from a text book. I remember this one day when i was asked to read aloud, i just froze. It runs in my family, i cant bear it anymore.

  • It is hard, but there is no reason at all to be ashamed of it. There a ways of coping and adapting. Hang in there!

  • you will get over it. 6 months ago it was terrible. i stuttered on every word. now i stutter on like 1 out of every 6 words. the reason why i got better was i always talked with this friend of mine and he talks really slow . if you can slow a conversation down you can get a foothold for your words. also before you say a word quickly exhale and make a slight HUH sound.

  • The clinical trials for "Pagoclone" start in March of 2009. Google it if you want to be involved. Its at the University of California Irvine campus. STUTTERING CURE

  • my buddy stutter's but get him drunk and he can talk perfect!

  • Ha! that's interesting 96Justin. I suppose there is really a sense in which nervousness can sometimes be an issue with it.

    Take care!

  • i stuttered since i was 4 and im 20 now and i still do but its gotten better but it still isnt fully gone..and i just think id feel so comfortable to talk to u, and all those techniques u said do help cause over the years ive tried them

  • I'm glad it's getting better for you. Personally, I've been able to more or less manage mine for many years. it's still there, but very manageable.

  • Same in my case, but it's becomming worse.

I only stutter when talking to other people, else never what makes it even more frustrating.

  • same here

  • I developed a stutter at around the age of 13, i can't say anything that begins with the words c, b, h, k etc without stuttering, i notice that when i'm joking and having fun with friends i never stutter, its weird, but when i order food/drinks at a bar i always stammer and stutter, i dread the day when i have to ask directions lol

  • Along with laughing, people also don't stutter when they yell or sing. It's pretty interesting.

My older bro has a severe stutter and it made me want to learn more about it. thanks for sharing your story :)

  • deldong,

I stutter. I also bet you wouldn't have the balls to make fun of me to my face, you gutless turd. I would beat you until you were a weeping pile of mucus covered shit. respond all you want to this comment, or grow a nutsack and PM me. I'll meet you, and we'll dance you cocksucker.

  • yeh, its kinda genetic

  • deldong, no its something we do for fun, cus its fun to stutter. Are you just born stupid ?

  • Let's just block delong for now. I'm sure he'll grow up soon, and when he does he will be welcomed back if he wants to comment again.

  • That sounds good. God bless you bro :)

  • on a serious note...are you ali g?

  • yea.. i have a stutter also.. but its more of a hesitant speach .. i hate public speaking/talking on the phone... and fear its going 2 effect me finding u good job.. when i feel like i stutter.. i always use a curse werd or a slang werd 2 cover it up.. or i would say something like hold on i 4 got then at a random moment say it... it reallllyyy sucks !!

  • i us to stutter a lot worse when i was around 11. i rarely do it know. i've learned too think before i speak..it helps alot..and not get to excited and remain calm...i was giving a speech when i was 11 and i got stage fright and began crying...ever since then i would stutter or get stuck

  • I currently have a speech inpediment i've had it since I was age 6. I had it bad when I was 6 or7 but as i was going to get help it seemed to get better. So know the only problems i have are getting out my s ang g words. But when i'm alone i dont stutter. But never give up keep trying. If a person teasrs you don't let it bother you. If u need any help just e-mail me a message on youtube.

  • Sometimes it helps to talk fast and just act cool, I know it can be hard, but it helps me sometimes.

  • I hate B's and my name is Brian:( The worst day of my life was on my old job, I dont work there anymore. There was a woman there should begin, but not where i worked, I worked on a choklate factury, and so we should say our names, and I know I will stuck, it was the womans idea, I couold kill her for doing this to me. So i said my name is.......... Brian, I could have crawl in a hole. So a guy said could you not remember your name. Fuck them !!!

  • lol i understand how you feel that happened to me too.

  • Im a stutter too and it sucks, its not so bad, but bad enough. Sometimes i got blocked, and when I not get my sleep or is very sleepy its worse, but mostly I can control it. I HATE phones, or talk to people I dont know so good, but if I talk fast im not stuttering, its weird. Please find a cure or a pill there can stop this, its very hard to live with. I dont work because i dont want to talk to people i dont know, I know if i meet people i dont know i get very nerveous because of my stuttering.

  • i've had problems with stuttering for most of my life too, and i've found that singing or acting helps quite a bit. i've found that if i can put myself into a different character or mindset, that i'm not quite as concerned with the way i'm speaking and i have a much easier time with stuttering and speech blocks; similarly, with singing, my vocal chords are constantly moving so there's not a lot of opportunity to get stopped up.

thanks for posting this, it's actually really good advice.

  • Don't get too down about it guys. I work with a man who is a fine lawyer and who has a very bad stutter. He gets people's respect for who he is. The stutter is insignificant to those who's opinions are worth worrying about.

  • yea i stutter now at age 14 its horrible to go through expecaly in school and i have alot of problems with my S,W,and H's for some reason the word liek just wont come out of my mouth

  • I'm sorry to the fellow who just left a message, yesterday. I was trying to respond and I accidentally removed your comment. sorry, dude. fell free to leave another.

  • i stutter too, im afraid of talk. i know that people dont care about if i stutter or dont (in sweden) i dont kno wif the people in usa cares about the stuttering.

the letters i dont like is "E" (my name is eddie, baad) and the three last letters in the swedish alphabeth "å,ä,ö"

  • Hey, Eddie. Yeah, for me it was "T's." I think it's different for each person. Being afraid to talk, I think, is common to those of us who have dealt with this. I think learning to defeat the fear is a big step toward reducing the stutter.

  • i don t really stutter that bad when im one on one with someone its when im on the phone. Does anybody have any solutions to help me ??? thnx

  • haha 1000$ for a dure yeah right

  • man happy for u...ur fluent:)

  • Hey thanks for the video, I'm going to use your video in my term paper, ok.. Don't worry I will cite it properly.

  • Awesome. I suppose YouTube citations are covered in the updated MLA online site, eh? Take care.

  • good idea, but wat if ur not good at it? :(

  • There is a medical aspect to it. Stuttering, like Schizophrenia is associated with increased dopamine in areas of the brain. Crudely put, dopamine is what makes the brain run faster. It's actually a good thing, it makes you smarter, but too much makes it harder to control. Schizophrenia is increased pattern recognition to the point where you attribute significance to every coincidence. Stuttering is the side effect of thinking too fast for your oral muscles.

Learn to control it. Be a god!

  • Anyone can overcome stuttering, or atleast bring it under supreme control. You just need to train yourself. Best thing to do is read a lot about it.

It's 100% psychological. For most stutterers they don't stutter alone, only in the presence of others. Also stutterers stutter differently depending on their environment, and who they're talking to.

I seldom stutter. I find I usually speak fluent (more fluent than a regular joe), until someone says something and interrupts me mid-sentence.

  • I started stuttering when I was 4 and stopped at age 5..I don't remember how I felt..But it must be hard!!When I was 4 I knew 2 languages : French and English and I got mixed up with both languages..And thats when I started to stutter..

  • I think he does very well, and he admits that he still does it-but what an amazing improvement. I aspire to this level of fluency.

  • Fuck you arsewhole go to hell..

  • That was very well articulated, TomoS.

  • leeti329, i read about valsalva technique but i couldn't understand. could you sende me a message or smt.

  • do any jobs hire stutters

  • well I'm a really bad stutter

And you know what else, I'm a med student (doctor to be)

    Dreams do happen

  • How to you tell you patients about thier illnesses?? I could just die thinking about it XI

  • good for u my friend!!!

  • God bless you! Please find a cure for stuttering!

  • @jacksephiroths You will be like : " Give me the def ...def ..ffff .... forget it he died " #LOL

I'm a stutter too but i'm a programmer so i don't have to talk to people much

there is a device called STUTTERFREE that helps ALOT but it's overpriced ...2000 $ check it on youtube or google.

  • Yes, U.S. Army / Security companies and yes U.S. Air Force. ....Navy is 50/50

Plus, WalMart / Fast food and CBS TV

  • Personally, I seldom stutter much when I talk to other people one on one. I teach so alot of my material is repeated over time. Keep up the improvement!

  • I stutter, and one thing my doctor has teached me is, move your mouth a lot, and as you maybe saw in this video, this guy really moves his mouth a lot so he can feel that he has control over his speech, and he is so calm. It's often when feeling stressed, that's when you will stutter the most. I want to share this with those of you out there who stutters, or maybe know someone who stutters. You can also give your friend who maybe is a stutterer some advice.

  • do you know any exercises for moving mouth. i always miss the point when i'm around people

  • Take time to breathe--you are in control. Feel yourself in the situation, make eye contact, don't rush. If you are not 100 percent fluent, who is? We stutters are so hard on yourselves, we can be 90 percent fluent and we get depressed because we messed up on one sentence. Let it go!

  • Check out this website to improve your speech.

    valsalva dot org

  • Pre-written scripts, like a play or comic routine. So there is no need to think too much about what is to be said. I think that helped.

  • hi , have you any suggestions on helping with a stutter when you are one on one with someone, or having to speak in a crowd...anything will help....thanks for taking the time to read this..bye

  • I wish I could tell you. The only thing I know to suggest is to prepare the matterial before-hand and practice it well prior to the speech to the crowd. 1on1 is harder--lots of variables.

  • Greetings, I too stutter. I worked for Boeing Missile sys.(10 yrs) I had to give a report in front of all of day shift and night shift. I had over head photos and a script to read, but I found that some "acting" helped out a lot. And make it fun for yourself.

  • ANy Techniques you use?

  • Cortmeister is a jerk!

Look at his profile wherein he says this w/r to his troubles with youtube, "I will not be silenced".

How come he blocked my comments?

    typical liberal hypocrite wimp!
