i like every os but mac is just not my thing. i love ubuntu, vista and xp. i would love to get in to a mac but the thing is they are just too damn expensive. i HAVE hackintosh but i cannot get it to install right. no offense to you mac owners but they should lower the price on a mac since we are in a recession.

it's my belief that everybody should have a copy of ubuntu laying around incase of a virus you can fix it with it.

when my bootloader got broken (i fucked up)

i formatted everything and install ubuntu. i then downloaded (ya ya ya piracy blah blah blah)

vista home premium.

i then made a 20 gigabyte partition so i could install hackintosh osx86.

it failed to install and i would have to go through the osx bootloader to get to vista and the broken osx took up 20 gigs. so i installed xp on it so that i can use that space and play pc games faster.

type in dual boot and get millions of results.

ITS FUN!!!!!!!

Uhh... Time Machine wouldn't work on a network!?!?!  It is designed so that you can have a server that every machine on your network can backup to. you can even boot off the backup if you really need to rofl. I have a wireless router at home with a hard drive attached to it partitioned and each partition password protected so only the admin and the user attached to that partition can use it. I can grab any file for them or restore their stuff for them easily.

I always thought it was the other way around.. At least it used to be. Mac OS was always made to be easy to use. With Windows, you have to deal with the registry, un-installers for software, DLLs, etc., whereas Mac OS doesn't have those complexities. OS X does have the BSD layer though, so I think OS X has the best of both worlds; ease of use and a powerful OS.

Most Mac users would laugh at the necessity to uninstall software in Windows (and in Linux too). With a Mac, you can simply delete the application.

And after a while, in Windows, you may uninstall something and then realize that uninstalling that software removed a DLL that another program relied on. So then you have to go find that DLL somewhere and put it in place.

Mind you, I am a longtime Windows user, so I am speaking from experience.

Nothing works on it, it's slow, freezes up (on most hardware) is virus susceptible, costs £180 (no idea what that is in dollars) and copied OSX from the beginning. What are those tasks if you dont mind me asking? Working with OSX is one thousand times better (especially when you, like me, work with Final Cut & After Effects all day long) then XP. I never feel the need to go windows.

As a Designer I've been surrounded by mac's and mac-lovers. It was clear to me that most of those users only liked macs because they were more exclusive, not because it was a better computer. And I do not know a single person who was educated in IT who likes macs. It's all about image. But that's just my opinion.

i would agree os x leapord is cool! but what i don't like about it is that you have a lot of programs that you are able to run on windows but not on the mac os system. Such as microsoft office 2007! Microsoft office is a very good software for word and spread sheets also apple only allows leapord to be installed on there computers and apple computer lack a lot of cool new hardware like hdmi port and blu-ray or hd dvd.

The quicklook shortcut is the spacebar. Also, you can have the finder in quickview mode by clicking on the "eye" icon. This will make it look like the coverflow of iTunes.
