  • man I want a pond like this.but unfortunately i live in this stupid city

  • how big is your pond , depth and how much would it cost ? plz anwser

  • How many koi are in that pond of yours

  • @534speedo Oh, I'm really not sure! They are not over crowded, ther'es plenty of room to swim and grow.

  • At 0:05, there are 2 big bushes in your pond. What kind of plant is that? Please answer me.

  • @free2rock85 yellow "water" iris.

  • @FISHGAL69 thanks, those red comets looks so beautiful...I had 2 but their fins and tails are clear not as white like yours.

  • Congrats on having over 100,000 views!

  • Koi are amazing creatures. Most people say whats fun about a fish as pet ?

Those type of people haven't experienced a koi eating out of there hand yet....

  • ok can you fish with a pond like this? i hear koi and carp are great fighters? jus a thought

  • @lindsay181993 I wouldn't want to hurt the fishes, and since they come over to people to be fed there wouldn't be much sport in it...

  • sarsa commets - not butterfly koi

  • @tomtgael Right.

  • @FISHGAL69 But, there are a couple of small ones blending in...

  • DEAR SANTA.......!!!!

  • sin palabras ... real mente precioso.

  • I love your pond. I am about to make one myself, but much smaller. It's about 2' deep in 1 spot an 1' deep in the other side. It's about 2' wide and 4' long. Do you think that is large enough to sustain koi, or should I try a different fish. Or is that big enough at all? Hope you can get back to me. Anyways, great post.

  • @rebelnomo That depends on how many fish you would like to keep in your pond. You could put about 3-4 6 inch koi and they will have some room to grow or you can select a smaller goldfish variety and have a dozen. I hope that helps you to plan.

  • @FISHGAL69 Thank you for replying, much help.

  • @FISHGAL69 Depends on where you are - you need at least 28'' of depth if you live in an area that gets below zero in winter. We use a bubbler all winter to keep our pond from freezing completely. If you are fortunate to live in a warmer area - no worries. Just be sure to have a nice bio filter and water circulation. Koi continue to grow no matter the pond size. So, you can have more smaller fish and less larger ones. A good rule is 1'' of Koi per gallon of water. Hope this helps.

  • I have serious problem right now, anyone could help me. My problem was, I saw enlargement of anus in one of my favorite fat koi, is it a disease or because of it's fatness?...please answer me..please

  • @bhavamitra27 I do not know, but maybe you can find the answer by searching fish-helpline

  • hi, did you figure your problem out with your koi?

  • did koi ponds come from japan or china?

  • @CohesiveOverkill From the web: "While a Chinese book of the Western Jin Dynasty (4th century) mentions carp with various colors, Koi breeding is generally thought to have begun during the 19th century in the Niigata prefecture of Japan."

  • hi-yah imma samurai!

  • do you use a heater to heat your fish in the pond , write back asap , thanks will

  • @diablogtrwill Do you mean a small one at the surface to keep a hole in the ice over the winter? Yes.

  • Awesome Pond.... Notice How clear the water is... UV clarifers at work...

  • @timothyalanbest Thanks for watching.

  • what is your real name of "long tail golf fish"?

  • @yoganbaik900124 Sara comet

  • beautiful comets....the tail and fins are awesome as is the color

  • this is awesomely beautiful.

  • @zzzthaoster Thanks, glad you enjoy it.

  • Beautifull long tail goldfishes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish I could get some like yours!!

    Congrats, beautifull pond and fishes!!

  • i saw a koi pond when i was in japan and its just mezmerising, i could have sat there for hours

  • population control? culling?

  • @DERAJ13 Culling, no. Only a few fry survive each year long enough to become sizeable, and there is an occasional lost to natural hazards.

  • nothing like sitting at a koi pond or raking a zen garden.

  • beautiful, thanks for sharing

  • @MonyMG1959 You're welcomed, thanks for watching.

  • Those sara comets are absolutely beautiful

  • Gday mate, some beautiful Koi u have there. Just wondering how is it that you have your lillys still intact?? Arnt they pretty damn destructive when it comes to plant life??

  • @maxlammamax Thanks for watching. We don't do anything special, the fish get a light feeding a twice a day... By the end of the season a few lily pads can look fairly tattered, but the plants have never been destroyed.

  • lovely comets

  • your pond is beautiful! I heard koi fish are quite costly, is that true?

  • @Hobbyist56 Thank you for your compliment. The price of koi varies by size, type and their markings. In Japan prize winning koi can sell for many thousands of dollars. With that said, some of these koi were introduced when they were 4-6 inches in length (and not expensive), then they grew and started spawning with a few fry surviving each season.

  • great video of your dad's pond!!! Ah the pearly and black gets bigger each time I see him!!! WOW!! A few have gotton very big!!! You included some awesome still lifes....

This really brought back fond memories!!!!

  • @eileensongs Speckles (the big orange and black one) didn't make it through the spring, she looked like she had a head injury. Weighed in at 28 lbs and 28 inched long. It will be interesting to see which one becomes the dominant eater.

  • Oh Cindy I am so sorry to hear that she was a beauty and joy to watch, so graceful!!

She was around quite a while, glad I got to see her. maybe the pearly one (as my dad called them) will be the dominate one...I saw the way she/he swam and ate in that pond...

  • I could watch koi all day! Nice video!

  • @mushmush7 Thanks. They are starting to get active now that spring is here, so another vid could be up in a few weeks.

  • what is the music?

  • Shogun from the Apple production library, so I wonder why youtube has tagged it for advertising, cuz I'm not a "partner"...

  • Omg! Those are giant fish!

  • They are even bigger now! Maybe I'll do another one this year.

  • cool, you should name one of them, "koi-zilla"! lol

  • What kind of filtration do you have? How many gallons is this pond? What kind of additives does your dad add to the pond? Have you had any kind of diseases?

  • So many questions. One I can answer accurately is there have been no diseases, though there has been some bird predation prior to setting up a water "scarecrow".

  • how much money did yo pond cost

  • Not my pond. The hole was dug by hand the walls are low cost landscaping ties, the upper pond where the waterfall comes from is a fiberglass hot tub someone threw out. the liner is a few 100 $, the filtration system is a costly part. There were only a dozen smallish fish to start.

  • I'm gonna get one of those cos they hav beautafull fish and I could medatate beside it

  • It is good to relax... thanks for watching.

  • Nice pond and beautiful fish, it's a great video!

  • Thank you, very much.

  • nice how old are the big koi

  • The largest orange and black ons is about 10 years the big white one is about 7.

  • ooooo I want to build one soooo bad!

  • very nice, i bet its very calming sitting and whatching....buitifull fish mate

  • aahh, very nice. is this yours pond?

  • It is my Father's pond, I get to enjoy it whenever I visit.

  • aaaah, relaxed...thNKS for sharing

  • Glad you enjoyed it.

  • Good editing. I thought the camcorder video quality was only so-so. What camcorder did you use and what did you edit with.

  • Thanks, did you watch in HQ? I agree the image here on youtube could look much better, however I put this on dvd and played it on a big screen plasma and it looked clear and vibrant. I filmed with a Canon mini dv zr800 and edited with final cut express and imovie.

  • whats the diffence berween koi and carp?bcoz there just almost the same...

  • Carp is the one on your plate, and koi is the one kissing you hand and show you their beauty!!! :)

  • Well, put!

  • fishgal69, well done man, that is a cool pond, one question: did you ever had luck breeding the khois, i have a pond 12m * 4m *(0.5 m to 1.5m deep ) full of mixed fish, the gold fish are breeding crazy every single year, but no luck with the khois . i tried different tricks such as adding more plants ,taking lot of gold fish out to make room for the khoi ...etc but no luck , any advice?

  • Thanks Micky, these koi do do breed every year we spot a couple of new small ones that survive. Fish will eat the eggs and they will eat fry, so a good amount of greenery for cover is always a good idea. How many fish are in your pond? The big ones need room.

  • Carp is a large family of fish, which do have similarities. Koi are "domesticated" -- bred for their colors rather than as a food source, and are in the carp family. The common goldfish is also in the carp family. I hope that helps.

  • As far as I know, Koi are just that, Koi, whilst Koi Carp are a cross between Koi and Carp.

  • As I said, koi are in the carp family.

    Kingdom: Animalia

    Phylum:Chordata

    Class: Actinopterygii

    Order: Cypriniformes

    Family: Cyprinidae

    Genus: Cyprinus

    Species: C. carpio

    Binomial name

Cyprinus carpio (scientific name for koi)

  • amazing pond and koi!!!! i love seeing real koi enthusiasts have some new butterfly koi as well as traditional koi. some koi keepers are just so stubborn.

oh! how do you keep your koi from eating your water lilies! im planning on constructing a pond and if i can't keep fish from the plants... im not sure if i want the garden pond or the fish pond, i would love to have both in one if that's possible.

  • Thanks. The fish tend to leave the water lilies alone, though by the end of the season some of the lilly pads get raggedy from the fish knocking food pellets off them. We give them duck weed now and then, and there is alga growing on the walls of the pond that they eat. You can have both we have pretty yellow irises in the pond as well.

  • I really wish I had the time and money to devote to a koi pond, but for the time being I'll just have to be happy with my 20 gallon tropical tank.

  • I like butterfly koi the best. I'm starting a pond of my own and getting some to go in it. Yours is really beautiful. :)

  • Thanks. Ah yes, the butterfly koi have those beautiful flowing fins. We are just starting to see the fish come up (water is still cold and is green with algae) and it looks like they've grown some over the winter. This is a very enjoyable hobby.

  • That was sooo beautiful.

OM Those are some Big ones..

    My mom loved gold fish.

    The flowers were so pretty.

  • Thank you for your comment. The big ones are even bigger now, you see how they enjoy eating, right? LOL

  • is it possible to breed normal koi to butterfly koi??

  • Well, I'm not sure about that one, my guess is yes.

  • are the bright red fish with white tails red comets?

  • i love it! how deep is it?

  • Thanks for watching. The pond has different levels (shelf for the iris pots) and at the deepest part it is about 5 feet. The smaller fish with flowing fins are "butterfly koi."

  • This video is breathtaking! And the music totally added to it :)

  • This is my Dad's pond and he gets so much enjoyment out of feeding them and watching them grow. I'm sure it helps him to relax too.

  • Yeah, I could totally see that happening. Scott wants one, but with the tree debris and the possibility of cats getting at them would just break my heart if anything happened to them. Oh, and the sprinkler system. Damn that sprnkler system.

  • I'm feeling much more relaxed now...VERY pretty and perfect music to go with it!

  • Thanks, ZoeToots, anytime you want to lower your blood pressure, you are welcome to come back for another look.

  • ur a nice person

  • Most beautiful koi I have set eyes on!

  • Thank you, Yours have room to grow and will be big like these in a few years too.

  • What a beautiful video! Koi of this pond eats elegantly! Thank you!

  • Thank you, these koi always look for food when people go near the pond, heads uo high and mouths wide open!

  • i think 2008 does need to relax. most of the year has just been engulfed by the election. thanks for video!!! i feel stress-free

  • LOL ! I'm with you on that, many people are tired of the electioneering already. Thanks for watching, all the way to the very end.

  • Really beatiful and relaxing.

  • Thanks for watching... It is good to relax.

  • Thank you! I am relaxed by this video very much. Avant-garde Japanese music and beautiful Koi and lotus!

  • Oh, you are so kind. Thank you very much.

  • Lovely. I especially enjoyed the stills showing many fish in the water.

  • Thanks for watching.

  • Beautiful. You send this in the exact time. I am pretty mixed up. It is like you knew I needed this!!!!

  • Wow, it always seems to help to take time for relaxation and inner peace, (even if it is just for a few minutes) when going through hard times. Be well, friend.

  • Arigato goizamas

  • Hai, Psychedalien-san

  • I could watch those fish for hours.

  • Me too!

  • Those are some big fish.

  • Thanks for watching.
