wow the coach here is incredibly irresponsible. Throwing 100+ pitches takes a pretty big toll on a pitchers arm. But 240? that could have seriously destroyed his arm and left him where he could not play in the future all because of some game between two high school teams. coach should have taken the kid out, thats just ridiculous.
you've gotta be shitting me did you forget Dice-K's 18-3 Record with an ERA of 2.90 in just his 2nd year in the Major League?? Also to be fair ALL of the RedSox starting pitchers had been under performing at the start of the 2011 season.
But thats not the case anymore as they all began to step their game up
Not to mention Dice-K just threw 2 SHUTOUT 1 Hitters against the Angels and the Jays. Is that good enough for ya?
International baseball events won't mean anything until all the best MLB players actually decide to show up. Despite the MLB being about 25% foreign right now, over 90% of HOF inductees are Americans. Granted, historically there were less foreign players. Americans have always dominated baseball, which isn't a surprise considering the game mainly developed there. Also, it's true that foreign players are not discovered as early. Some of them are never discovered of course.
A dream of Japan baseball kids is not only to become a professional player but just get a one single hit or a few pitches on the mound there at the Koshien Stadium would be great ... they fancy
man stupid in the mlb thats like a pitcher pitching in 3 games in a row 83 pitches each thats about 1 start.talk about finishing a game with a sore arm
Are you stupid, high school Americans throw at max like around 85-88 mph, Japanese high school students throw like around 88-90 all the time stupid, we got strength and accuracy.
@TheGoldenWater yeah there are some negative points of doing it as well as good points, but this is what high school baseball is for japanese students
because it was a must win game and its a national high school tournament which is HUGE in japan. Dice K was the ace of the team and the team needed him
Passion apparently leads to stupidity, then. Like danlinik24 said, any coach who allows their starter to throw 250 pitches is a moron. That has the potential to completely alter someone's career.
Im sure if money didnt exist MLB players wouldnt give a shit. The difference between these high school players and MLB players or rather any player from North America would be that they put their pride on the line whereas you watch MLB players get these little injuries like a tight hamstring and go on the DL For a month.
I'm not denying the fact that its stupid (It really is) but you ever think the pitcher wanted to keep pitching? You think youd want to step off the mound while the game is tied?
Dice K obviously wanted to continue pitching. If he didnt he couldve just left the mound. Dice K, the coach and the whole team would probably regret it if he didnt pitch and they ended up losing the game.
Dice K was just being a good team player and put his career on the line for his dream and most importantly his teammates dreams.
In high school, though? I can respect that he was a trooper, but that's no reason to be foolish. OF COURSE they would regret not doing SOMETHING if they had lost the game because there's always something to look at and say, "Hmm, maybe we should have done that differently."
