  • wow the coach here is incredibly irresponsible. Throwing 100+ pitches takes a pretty big toll on a pitchers arm. But 240? that could have seriously destroyed his arm and left him where he could not play in the future all because of some game between two high school teams. coach should have taken the kid out, thats just ridiculous.

  • so they made 98 Koshien out of this huh?

  • critikal?

  • This guys is all hype. He can strike out 6 but hes already given up 4 something runs in EVERY game he starts. Not gonna cut it in the MLB.

  • @NightmareTeeVee you know in 2008 he had 18wins 3 losses in the mlb playing for the red sox..

  • The last pitch wasn't a strike.

  • Didn't know Dusty Baker used to manage in Japan.

  • Didn't know Dusty Baker used to coach in Japan.

  • dude this is fucked up... 147km/h from a highschooler who pitched 240+ pitches? That dude is unreal....

  • @EatYourWangRolls

International baseball events won't mean anything until all the best MLB players actually decide to show up. Despite the MLB being about 25% foreign right now, over 90% of HOF inductees are Americans. Granted, historically there were less foreign players. Americans have always dominated baseball, which isn't a surprise considering the game mainly developed there. Also, it's true that foreign players are not discovered as early. Some of them are never discovered of course.

  • hes tha same as goro shigeno... but goro i real monster and hes my idol....

  • a sacred place, yes .. bare and decrepit thou..lol

  • A dream of Japan baseball kids is not only to become a professional player but just get a one single hit or a few pitches on the mound there at the Koshien Stadium would be great ... they fancy

  • i wonder what his arm felt like after?

  • 3:59

  • In japan in the summer of every year

About 4000 high schools play a game by the tournament method.

  • His arm must've been jello after that game

  • man stupid in the mlb thats like a pitcher pitching in 3 games in a row 83 pitches each thats about 1 start.talk about finishing a game with a sore arm

  • maybe their pitchers are just flat out better than ours.

  • Americans still got the strength... its just that Japanese players just work so hard.

  • at the same time though, didn't dice-k also injure himself??...what is it about the mlb that does this? lol

  • yea... I think MLB is over paying...

  • what makes you say that? lol the 50 mil it took just to NEGOTIATE with dice k????

  • Are you stupid, high school Americans throw at max like around 85-88 mph, Japanese high school students throw like around 88-90 all the time stupid, we got strength and accuracy.

  • thats not true, our varsity team played a kid who was a senior throwing 96 for a strike =\

  • @PJPak721 yea dumb ass in miami theres plenty of teams whose pitchers throw 90. one team has 5 pitchers throwin 90

  • @TheGoldenWater yeah there are some negative points of doing it as well as good points, but this is what high school baseball is for japanese students

  • wow either the bullpen is horrible or the coach is a retard. why would you have your starter pitch 250 pitches

  • because it was a must win game and its a national high school tournament which is HUGE in japan. Dice K was the ace of the team and the team needed him

  • My god... 240+ pitches in the swealtering heat of the summer, and he's still able to throw 147 KMH? He really is Kaibutsu...

  • btw..he had pitched a 148 shutout just the day before the 250 pitch game...

  • it's an unreasonable amount of pitches to ask a pitcher to throw

  • that's why they've won 2 WORLD baseball championships in a row... cuz they have passion.

  • Passion apparently leads to stupidity, then. Like danlinik24 said, any coach who allows their starter to throw 250 pitches is a moron. That has the potential to completely alter someone's career.

  • Im sure if money didnt exist MLB players wouldnt give a shit. The difference between these high school players and MLB players or rather any player from North America would be that they put their pride on the line whereas you watch MLB players get these little injuries like a tight hamstring and go on the DL For a month.

I'm not denying the fact that its stupid (It really is) but you ever think the pitcher wanted to keep pitching? You think youd want to step off the mound while the game is tied?

  • I was saying that the coach should have more sense than to allow that to happen.

  • it just becomes a what if situation.

Dice K obviously wanted to continue pitching. If he didnt he couldve just left the mound. Dice K, the coach and the whole team would probably regret it if he didnt pitch and they ended up losing the game.

Dice K was just being a good team player and put his career on the line for his dream and most importantly his teammates dreams.

  • In high school, though? I can respect that he was a trooper, but that's no reason to be foolish. OF COURSE they would regret not doing SOMETHING if they had lost the game because there's always something to look at and say, "Hmm, maybe we should have done that differently."

  • hahahhahahahahhahahahhahahahha (those laughs are at you not with you)

    Red Sox ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuule

  • kodomokayo omeewa. are u a kid or something lmao

  • wow your cool u fag.

  • wats a koshien?

  • agree

  • Koshien is the The National High School Baseball Championship of Japan wich is played in Koshien stadium. It is as popular if not more popular then proffesional baseball in Japan.

  • a tournament. Kind of like a world series but in highschool play

  • The media involvment and airtime it gets can be compared to what the states are like with the NCAA, in Japan though, highschool baseball is more popular (I heard from a friend that it was like this in Korea in the 70's)
