Does anyone know how a peritoneal catheter is extended. I might need to have it done soon, since I've had the shunt in for 16 years (Im 17). My dad says that my NS told him that you could extend the tube in the stomach, without making any cuts into the head. I don't believe them at all, it just doesn't seem possible without connecting a new tube to the valve. Im so freaked out :( I HATE HYDRO :(
I was about 9 or 10 years old when I had my last shunt revision. My hydro was declared arrested about nine years ago. But I feel what you're going through .
Just wondering. I have a V.P shunt. have had mine for 21yrs. For as long as i remember i experience pain every now and again where my op site is in my belly and around. Quite painful really. Dont s'posse you get similar? its driving me crazy trying to find people!!!
I had a shaunt put in in may2009, 2daysafter my surgery had the pain u r describingthe doctors kept saying "JUST GET USE TO THE SHAUNT & THE PAIN WILL GO AWAY"after being in pain for 4 months I told my doctors to figure out why I had this pain.I requested a ct scan with die & guess what I was right, something wrong! I HAD A STAPH INFECTION!never had a fever or any other sign other than the pain.Shaunt was removed on sep1 &was treated for the infection, next week I will have the shaunt put back in
yeah done that several times believe me. was discharged years ago but been back anyhow after that hassling. as of a good few years back got told nothing wrong. Still get the nastiest pains tho so just trying to find out of I am the only one with this experience!!! ha ha.. seems i am.. hope your tube is treating you well!!

Thanks. I'm doing ok. I'm amazed it's been 2 years now. I should do an update video at some point.

Hey Steve, I'm sorry I didn't reply sooner. Stuff been going on. But that's no excuse. I apologise.
How's your shunt? Not had any problems, I hope not?

I am fine. I haven't had a neurological check up in ages.

That's good to hear. :)
May I ask what type of shunt do you have? Is it programmable like the one I have now, or is it like my old one that you don't adjust it with magnets?
Ps. Please keep me informed :)

Hey moonshine706,
I think the best thing to do is get it looked at by your doctor or neurosurgeon.
Let me know how it goes.
*hugs*
