  • He's just so honest.

  • Amazing song, He's funny AND he can sing, extremly unique!xxx

  • Lovely song, fantastic vocals and a great performance. Mr Minchin is one of the good guys.

  • @IIPRODUCTIONS Very few people got those cars. They were never actually built because the factories switched to weapon making. The Motorways were built by forced labour for pocket money - £2 - £3 a week.

  • Awesome hair. Love the song. It's different and funny but with feeling

  • gifted and talented absolute genius to watch

  • Oh my God, I miss the Sideshow so much.

  • youtube.com/watch?v=AgxqBVwl-xw

  • nice song

  • "This is my Earth

    And I live in it.

    It's 1 third drit and

    2 thirds water.

And it rotates and revolves through space,

    at rather an impressive rate,

and never even messes up my hair...

    Fuck I love boobs though......"

  • Is it just me or does the guy and the start sound like jools holland?

  • tim's body is fine.

  • i wanna see him live in boulder but i need the cash :O

  • Ssd

    Xzxdzs

  • This really touched me when i first heard this song. It opened up a part of me which i never knew exsisted and it really spoke to me. I have to admit it did make me cry :') and i felt somehow good about myself after hearing this song. It just shows you that you CAN be satisfyed with what you have and to be grateful for it :) Thank you Tim Minchin x

  • @btaroo1314 i heard about 2 minutes of it about 2 or 3 years ago, and something just clicked recently, and i had the urge to find this song. it's stuck with me for this long for a reason. just beautiful. :')

  • /watch?v=jzFXg3a4KsY it's a cover my bestfriend did, she's amazing, i'd appriciate it is you could thumbs up, comment and favourite it ;3 thankyou fellow youtubers! :3

  • The revolution sweeping the world is the revolution of the mind.

Recognizing the proper respect for EVERYONE'S thoughts, ideals, and basic humanity.

These revolutions are forwarded by so many different people, in so many different ways, and they lead us forward.

Tim just happens to be one of the most beautiful.

We must find faith in these movements; not in 'them' to be successful and find the solutions, but for 'us' to lead ourselves to what is right, wherever that may lead us in turn.

  • @AlexKrycek411 - you should not respect EVERYONE'S thoughts & ideals. Should we respect the beliefs of Hitler, Kim Jong-Il or Osama Bin Laden? I think not. Never respect the beliefs and ideals of arseholes.

  • @mddawson1

Respecting one's beliefs and following them are different things.

For example, someone who wants to kill everyone of another country might have a reason for doing it; something that can be stopped and hence preserve the safety of all people in that country. If you respect their right to their belief and to speak it, you might find out WHY and then solve the problem, saving potentially millions of lives, all through the respect of ideals.

  • @mddawson1 Yes, we should respect their ideas. However, one should not act on their ideas if they will lead to the harm of others, and that goes for everyone.

  • @UberCathal - Unfortunately the people who have those hideous ideals tend to act on them. By respecting evil ideals it can give them an air of legitimacy and they continue to flourish. You end up with idiots like that Norwegian gunman - complete arseholes that have no regard for humanity.

  • @UberCathal Respectin their ideas would have meant something along the lines of "oh, lets just leave Europe to that guy and lets not do something about it". Not very smart.

  • @mddawson1 jus so you no, people only remember the bad things from hitler... yes he causeed some very bad things but he also brought us the volkswagen and the first motorway was his idea! dont remember people by there down falls! everyone has done something good at some point in there life

  • @IIPRODUCTIONS - I used to be a Volkswagen mechanic - they are nasty things to work on. You can't really count the VW as only a handful were made before the factories switched over to making weapons. I also recall an article that claimed Hitler asked the editor of Germanys only car magazine to design a peoples car. It looked very much like a Beetle but was water cooled. When Hitler discovered he was Jewish he handed the designs over to Porsche.

  • @IIIPRODUCTIONS just so you know hitler didn't come up with the concept of motorways as the first was built between Milan and Varese in 1920 niether of which are in germany. He saw the potential of motorways for fast transit but he used it to transport troops and weapons. You should respect peoples ideals but some people are just evil and no amount of good can change that.

  • @IIPRODUCTIONS yeah but im pretty sure it was the previous government in Germany that built is it called the "Autobahn" motorway and hitler passed it off as his own......but I could be wrong I think I heard it from a teacher I had in High School

  • @IIPRODUCTIONS I'm fairly certain that isn't fair, it's important to know where things went wrong in history so they don't repeat themselves... I mean I like a good Volkswagen as much as the next guy, but he sort of killed like a gazillion people and started a world war. I see what you're saying though, the only reason he didn't reach immortality and lead armies of undead Nazi's was because he was the spawn of an anthropomorphic Volkswagen Beetle.

  • @mddawson1 i think it's important to remember that anytime anyone does something bad, they have justified it, to them it is not bad, it is right, to us it is bad, and we must remember that history only remembers the winners, the king of england saw the rebellious americans as people whos beliefs or ideas shoulden't be respected, as did the north did to the south in the american civil war

    its a matter of perspective

and it is our nature to assume we're right

    humility is considering we're not

  • @mddawson1 you're on the right track there, but a bit misled.

you respect everyones right to have their own beliefs. you have tolerance for their freedom of speech. even if its just an idiot down the road, you don't have to appreciate or accept their beliefs. as long as you respect their right to have them

  • @AlexKrycek411 nice

  • @AlexKrycek411 It's funny that you're being all self-righteous about respecting ideas, yet you're pushing your beliefs on us here.

    Shut up, seriously.

  • I'm so touched. I think his eyes were actually tearing up there at the end. Reaching down that deep in your soul and revealing yourself is so powerful, and brave.

  • dose he have a twitter ???

  • I love how genuine the presenter is afterwards.

  • That millisecond hesitation before saying his brain is fine, then the purposeful insistence, almost urgency, when he said it, gets me every time.

  • i think this is probs my favourite tim minchin song

  • I'm so happy I found this corner of the internet

  • This audience is so respectable! I am so happy that they are not clapping along; as soon as an audience starts clapping along you know they aren't listening to the words and are just listening to the pretty notes, but this audience is hanging on his every word and I love it!

  • Wow this is so profound!!

  • just saw him in chicago. you have no idea what its like to touch this man

  • I adore him.

  • Some of his deeper stuff is so infinitely powerful. This one and White Wine especially. Love all of his stuff, but these are my favourite!

  • i luv this song ssooooooooo much and ik wat he means by its not perfect but its mine

  • This amazing thing has got 136,000 views and friggin' Rebecca Black's ''Fried egg'' has over 156,00,000 views. What a sad world we live in.

  • A friend of mine commented on one of Tim's videos I shared on FB "I would NEVER go and see that insecure fuck!" Okay, so where is he insecure??? LOL Going to see him in Chicago on the 18th! :D Traveling across the country to see him. I sold a couple guitars and a few other things just to see him. I cannot wait!! XD

  • I want to know where he spends the rest of his time.

  • and the weirdest thing about it is

I spend so much time hating it

but it never says a bad word about me.

Those words just resonate with me.

  • @AnonymousUbiquity Yeah, me too. Such an awesome song :)

  • Wow olly123451, when I read your comment, I looked at the clock and it said 1:50am and I too am just about to go to sleep. I also think this is a great piece.

  • The only thing that I would say different is that I don't spend most of my time in my mind, I spend it out of it O.o

  • gracias tim

  • i think this song is amazing - pure Minchin genius really!!!

I think youre perfect tim lol

  • I know this comment is not perfect. But it's mine.

  • Listening to this song at 1:50 in the morning, Before sleeping.

    Such a great piece.

  • Why in the actual fuck is Kesha a suggested song to Tim minchin?!

  • @xKuroTenshiix to be fair, its not a Kesha song, its a parody of Kesha by the Key of Awesome

  • @xKuroTenshiix that's not a suggestion that's a featured video from youtube

  • Brings a tear and a smile:,)

  • 7 people think their perfect

  • he kinda sounds like james blunt lol.....i dont know if thats a good thing or a bad thing?? haha

  • Continuing, that effect causes the sea to bulge at the equator, now if the earth was to stop spinning that coriolis force would vanish and the water would flood to the poles to make a more uniform sphere. This would cause flooding of parts of continents. Also the earths magnetic field is maintained by flowing liquid iron at the earth's core, this again is caused by the rotation of the earth. Without that magnetic field the atmosphere would disappear. Tim Minchin was correct.

  • @1irs1 I just felt I needed to say your first comment is completely wrong, the coriolis force is for a start not technically a face, just a manifestation from using Newton's laws on a non-inertial reference frame, that comes from 2 hours of derivation in my advanced dynamics course in university. However that is rather complex so I will shy away from explaining that over yotube, the coriolis force although small has a large effect on large quantites of water for example on oceans.

  • héhe_âñÿÓñè_wÄÑNÁ_chÅt_wIth_mÈ_Ì_fêÊl_só_lÔNÉlY_tÒDÂý~

  • 7 people aren't welcome on this earth

  • @Glorfendal Not exactly the best of examples.

  • I think that this song, is the anthem of the human soul. Just saying.

  • I smiled when I saw that Not perfect Tim Minchin was above Not Perfect Simple Plan.

  • Love + bad song lyrics = Brilliance

  • exactly how i feel, especially the brain, not worked out how to use mine yet either

  • I know this is supposed to be comedic, but it is more than that for me. It's a very moving song with a very profound meaning to me.

  • Great song but i dont understand, what force is created by the earths spin? Centrifugal?

  • @NoWitnessesNoRegrets Our magnetic field is generated by the earth's spin. That's what keeps us from being killed by the sun.

  • @lunethlemage cheers, it was bugging me

  • @NoWitnessesNoRegrets

Think he is referring to gravity...

  • @MutieThePig I am completly ignorant to all things scientific but i know its not possibly gravity, besides someone already answered me.

  • Comment removed

  • @1irs1 wow. your ability to over-analyse in search of meaningless issues is truly astounding. tell me, as a person who quite clearly revolves around their own sense of self-importance (achieved by automatically seeking flaws in those they feel intimidated by) how much gravitational force do you generate? you are clearly an intelligent person yet i feel humility still eludes you. manners are the mark of intellect and i shouldn't need remind you of them in this manner. such base criticism is rude

  • This song is amazing!!! It's so honest and beautiful and moving! Tim MInchin is a genius....soooo talented! : )

  • 7 people are perfect

  • jesus everyone is so cringe down here....

  • he can make you laugh, and make you cry - he's wonderful

  • I find it interesting that people laugh at some of the bits in this song, when this is the least funny song I have ever heard. It's way too emotional and beautiful.

  • To make science seem so beautiful, natural and just fascinating, as the first verse, is just amazing. There aren't many people who can write a song that makes all the worst parts of your life seem okay and all your best parts seem better. But this guy does. Love Tim<3

  • simply perfect, strangely that's the only word i can use to describe this song

  • ME TO

  • Stands the test of time.

    Still beautiful...and it's fine.

  • This is an amazing song, and there is only one thing that could make this song better... Put it on itunes :) please?

  • who could possibly give this thumbs down? its amazing

  • My BFF on YouTube has this as her display video. I can't type on her page for laughing. This guy's AWESOME!

  • my friend said tim was stupid and lame... ...

i hospitalized him within the second

  • @TraceurKing09 Meh. He's not perfect.

  • @TraceurKing09 Too bad. From the amount of time you spent struggling with the decision whether or not to do him in, you must have been pretty good buddies.

  • @TraceurKing09 - appropriately done, sir!

  • @TraceurKing09 awesome, he's still your friend?

  • It's hard to hate on a guy that's so brazenly honest.

  • Ladies... Take your bitching somewhere else.

  • i find it really funny that people are bitching at each other over this...

get over yourselves, it's just a song... yes, a BRILLIANT, beautiful, funny song by a brilliant, beautiful, funny performer... but it's just a song.

  • Converting this to mp3 and downloading right away.

  • @furryninja

hmmmm. between the haircut and the eye shadow i'd say that he's just a robert smith wannabe

  • cool. did this cunt write this song for a youtube contest or something?

  • @evilsnakes1 what the fuck are you talking about? you absolute moron, go back to your hole in the ground with your inbred family.

  • @JLMLALMAPMS

is that you, tim? i meant no offense. i hope you won the prize. was it an ipod touch? please can you add a few more punchlines next time? i was hee-hawing all the way to the shitter after i head this one.

  • @evilsnakes1 are you retarded? I mean if you are i'm really sorry for offending you, you probably can't help being a prick. Apologies.

  • @JLMLALMAPMS

yes, i am retarded, but i am offended that you called me a prick.

  • @evilsnakes1 Don't be a prick then?..

  • @evilsnakes1 Do you not realise that this is aimed at everyone. Every pisses and moans about life, but this song is truth all the way. Nothing is perfect, but it is ours to cherish... "Some people have it worse than i", also by Tim Minchin is a relation, or can be related to this song.... Suck out fool!

  • @evilsnakes1 The word "Troll" springs to mind here.

    ... trololololol

  • Saw him last night in Nottingham. Agree with everyone below he's awesome.

  • Gutted I missed him. He's so talented

  • saw him last night in the 02 and he played this :D was awesome

  • One of my favourite songs ever. Saw him play this live last night in Brighton, I cried like a girl hahaha!

    Love love love

  • AWESOME :D

  • i understand people are entitled to have their own opinions, but come on, what the fuck, this is amazing, how can there be any one person, never mind 5 that dislike this! Tim Minchin is truly a genius.

  • I really, really LOVED this :)

    Great post!!

  • I'm slightly in love with Tim Minchin....

  • That is five more people not understanding what real music is!

Just a beautiful song from Tim, I hope he comes to Iceland soon.

  • A song from Tims heart straight into mine. So much passion and soul, just plain beautiful.

  • Absolutely fucking EPIC

  • There are 5 very sad people on our planet

  • Tim Minchin is a genius. For me, this poignant masterpiece of a song is about wanting what you have, rather than having what you want.

  • I watch this video at least 3 times a day because I believe it deserves many more views than 85,000!

  • F***ing love it tim is EPIC

  • I think its a song we all wish we wrote because all releate so badly.

  • I really relate to the brain and body verses. Self loathing for the win :/

  • @philmetal I think your missing the message, People need to stop acting like little stupid show ponys and learn to be happy with what you have, perfection is just a word, like all words it was created. In our lives we arnt promised anything besides death and life is too short to spend even a small % of time trying to be better than someone else, learn to accept and love yourself and than find your passion, your drive. live YOUR life happily.

  • 5 people cant accept being not perfect

  • @dmbg4evr 543 people can...

  • @luckyodeler indeed they can and im one of them =]

  • @dmbg4evr :-D

  • @dmbg4evr Original!

  • @dmbg4evr 2 more people realised after they read that

  • I'm physically disabled, and this song really touches me in the right places. Everyone should listen to this and accept what they are - partically ceebs such as Jordon/Katie Price... she can add as much plastic as she wants to her face, grow even bigger tits, but she'll never see perfection, at least not from her eyes.

Oh, and Tim rules! Damn him, I wish I was the one who wrote this song :D.

  • Oh Tim you are oh so awesome and so deep

  • This song is brilliant, his lyrics are one of the best i've come across, his chord sequences are very good as well excellent

    10/10

    From London England

  • I lovee his look! He looks so coooll, ahha. :] great voice.

  • This song is always just what I need after a difficult day.

  • I adore this song! He's amazing on the piano.

  • I never used to like Tim Minchin, but I'm really starting to appreciate his style - the intelligence behind the songs I used to dismiss as pointless. Great song :)

  • so many emotions rolled into one. truly inspirational.

  • thank you james

  • Lol at the end, TIM MINCHIN, so harsh sounding, Love the song

  • OMG this is amazing!!! I watched this video because the one TimMinchinLive posted was covered up by the poster's desperate and annoying attempt to get subscribers

  • great song

  • I just keep on coming back to this one. I can't get it out of my mind..... and I don't really want to. Tim is brilliant in every way that I can see anyway, but this is just beyond bloody awesome!!

If his brain is made up of bad song lyrics, I'd like to know where he keeps all the ones he uses! His pure comedy is gold, but this... This is ... well.. Perfect.

  • @KhaosWolfKat

This really is one of my favourite songs ever. Saw Tim live in Brighton in december, he did three encores. This was one of them and I cried : ) to say I was happy is a slight understatement. Thanks Tim.

  • @paragonride Well i looked at your videos paragonride. and well they suck. tim minchin is plain awesome. He's smart,he's talented, and he knows how to combine them. You laugh into a microphone and talk. You call it rap. I call tim's video's genius and most people on youtube will agree. Screw you and your trashy comments

  • @paragonride i dont think you can do any better can you? no! Tim is inspirational and you just make people laugh with your trollin' get out more and grow up kthxbii :)

  • Paul McDermott makes me wet

  • haha love this guy..."its made of love, and bad song..lyrics" :D

  • Love this song muchly, thanks to the pub louts downstairs who kept me up that night for me to discover it

  • a nice reprieve from his harsher songs (which I like.) Regardless, It is a nice example of "hey, just look at the good stuff." always been a fan, and this just cements it,

  • And he says he can't write deep songs :')

  • I watched this song last night on channel 4, it made me cry (:

    its great, i love it.

  • @sparky99945 haha same here

  • @sparky99945 yh i watched the whole thing! he is my fave comedian!

  • The line about our bodies never doing anything mean to us made me cry the first time I heard this song. And I mean literally.

  • fucking luv this song new fav tune cant stop listenin 2 it

  • tim minchin is pure genius! he can write a classic comedy song but then write a song likes which is funny yet so powerful at the same time! pure class!!

  • almost looks his eyes are welling near the end of the song

  • @luckynumero13

think that's the eye-liner.....yeah...that must be it

  • i saw him on tv last night and he blew me away, he played this song and it really moved me.

now im looking into going to one of his shows.

  • brb- killing 4 inbreds.

  • I made an animation for this song (: because I thought it was so pretty.. it was on paint so it's nor great but i got bored. It's on my channel check it out!

  • Tim is awesome as always. I have done some covers (including Ten Foot Cock And A Few Hundred Virgins) and also a tutorial for Inflatable You. Any pianists on here, let me know what you think

  • That song makes me a bit sad.

  • when he says 'my country' is he talking about australia or england

    LOVE YOU TIM

  • @MJlover3307 Australia. Our prime minister at the time was John Howard. He is really rather radical of eyebrows.

    =^..^=
