And one more likes this (updated) mod because it allows you to play on modern resolutions such as 1920x1080, use your own keyboard layout and even playable on Windoze 7.

It did however crash my OS once...but that may just have been a pre patch issue.

Doomsday is another good source port that in my opinion has better graphics but you can't add custom maps like in risen3d.

Wondering if someone can help me.

Got risen3d as well as the 3d textures and models. Its all works fine (despite my laptop having the dreaded sis mirage 3 graphics chip) however when i go to the last level i notice that all the textures become disort and when I warp to a different level the graphics stay distort, even when i start a new game. I have to relaunch risen to return everything to normal.

@MaidenFan24568 sounds like a glitch to me. Unfortunately, risen does have a number of glitches that have yet to be patched. If you want my advice I would make sure that you have downloaded the most up to date graphic drivers available for your card. Its a shame you have mirage 3, you probably wouldnt get these problems with a more established card.

Could be driver related, could be the amount of textures loaded into memory exceeds the ability of the graphics processor, and by the last level, it has too much loaded and has a problem...try using less add-on high res textures or lower the quality of texture setting in the game. It's something to try, if it isn't a bug related to the engine+add-ons your using.

yeah, i beat Doom 1 and 2 on risen 3d. There were a few flaws, in the bad quality of the models, including the imp. However, they updated their model packs, and hopefully they will keep making it better. Still, I'd like to see Doom with ultra high resolution sprites, instead of these models. Can't beat the classic.

You don't need the original DOOM games installed, you just need the WADs from them. That's jDoom and it's totally different.

yeah I downloaded everything for Risen3D, but I cant get it working AT ALL (way too confusing for me), ill just stick to Doomsday. already have it all working and its portable, no installation on my computer :) its on my flash drive along with 40 or so wads

"source" refers to the source code, basically meaning they used the code (engine) from the original doom games, and modified it with tons of upgrades to make what you see here.

doomsday works great, i say use doomsday kickstart, plus i got the sambo soundpack to work, i used risen3d on christmas eve and it was good, but i hated the weps, they looked diffrent from doomsday since that time my?doomsday woesn't working.Plus the zombie solider are diffrent, the one with the pistol has green hair, i like the doomsday hair better. Plus their are other stuff i don't like. Doomsday is better. Which one came first, risen3d or doomsday, plus which one is better?

honestly, i like the original doom much more. look at the graphics of back then. yes they were 2d sprites, but there was much more detail put into the monster graphics. have you seen the detail on the cacodemon's skin? what about the cyberdemon? look at that!

This source port has some other features that make it differ from doomsday but these features are harder to activate. And yes this is based on the doomsday engine. The extra features are that it supports its own 3d maps and realistic environments.
