  • great video

  • Honestly, it was: cleanly, neatly, and professionally done; maintaining the most civility, humanity, and decency as possible despite the human condition; and thankfully without too much brutishness or "redneck." Perhaps, I overstated a bit, but I have seen so many people attempt to educate other regarding this activity despite they themselves being quite ignorant. Our base functions do not have to be overly base. They can be improved upon through art and science. Thank you Mark.

  • NOOOOO!!!! POOR PIGEON :"(

  • @AlexAndArtemis dude this is a helpful video on how to clean a pigeon it is no different then a turkey, and if it was a clean shot the pigeon would die instantly with no pain

  • @freestyleskier1231 why would you even search this

  • Damn... I'm hungry... Excellent video, very informative.

  • great job !!!

  • Thanks a lot! I'm a bit too late in watching this having just finished preparing my first birds a few minutes ago, however this has greatly helped me learn and will make my future birds a lot easier to prepare!

  • beauty cheers

  • Is it ok to eat a 'homer' pigeon if it grew up in the country? aka wild?

  • all those wasted feathers could be used to tie flies

  • @Kendo2007 what can you do with the feathers mate?

  • @BluSUBsound the wings and the tails feathers can be used for tying flies, Pigeon tails can be used for fly wings and also the wings can be used for hackles and wings using the primary feathers of the wings

    Kendo

  • Excellent ! - simple & straightforward... I could do that..!

  • Thanks for posting these vids up, I've recently got into small game hunting and all yours videos have helped.

Do you have a favourite recipe for woodies?

Happy new year and have a great 2011

  • Further to my previous comment... Mark - no need for that language and Gash2024 shut up, you clearly have some issue that you need to address. Whatever it is GET OVER IT. I am sure you are probably a decent enough guy but you make yourself sound like a twat.

  • really awesome video.

  • I love Mark's cheeky smile at the very end...

    Another great video. Thanks.

  • In the Great Depression, people out west here, maybe other places too, would eat ANY type of bird. Even in big cities people would leave little bits of bread or grain and attract pigeons and then kill them. Protein is protein, and if it's grain or bread fed rather than eating crap it should be fine.

You may not want to eat it, but go a while without food and you'll thank God Almighty for pigeon.

  • superb. im thinking of doing that sometime

  • I think the American translation of pigeon is different from the British version. Here it means "Flying Rat". I wouldn't eat a pigeon unless it was absolutely necessary.

  • @bandsaw000o0

A wood pigeon isn't the same as a city pigeon.

  • @bandsaw000o0 wood pigeon is different from city pigeon

  • @bandsaw000o0 In The Netherlands we say vliegende rat to lol.

  • That smile at the end is priceless...

  • thanx alot

  • this has benn good help

  • there is no point in hiding your comment's mark, screen shot's don't lie.

I've watched your other bits on here, great stuff.

  • @mossbergmaster where is you're instructional video then...?

  • why are there some really stupid comments on this demo? its for people who have an interest in it...do british eat pigeon?? yes not fat burgers the whole of the fat arse yanks eat and the reason the bloke didnt finish his wank in time is beacause it took him 4 mins to find it.....

  • wish this video was longer, i tried masturbating to it but didnt finish in time :(

  • why the fuck would u do it in the living room?

  • Pigeon is a lean, healthy meat, thanks for this demonstration. :-)

  • ewwwww.... absolutely barbaric... no class.

  • oh, C'mon...British eat pigeons??? That's absolutely disgusting.

  • @maxinpains hey i'd rate this as being better than eating deep fried everything as you do in the states. I'd be worried if 8 out of 10 were obese in my country.

  • @LCStreetPhotographer Yeah, freedom sucks. Dont be jealous.

  • @om3gadagg3r Dont worry im not..we in the UK are as free as can be..our government doesnt control us. UNlikeeeee..some.

  • @MRBHV yes all out

  • ive just followed your video step by step, and ive come to what i think is the heart. Do i take that out?

  • awesome! now I know what I can eat when I visit my mom in the city. Problem is the pellet gun does not kill the critter with one shot.

  • are you game for gay anal sex?????????

    didnt think so.

  • direction the grow

  • dont pigeons carry diseases or something?! I wint be eating that!

  • Great video. Thanks for all the useful information on all your videos.

    Peace brother.

  • for a little bird they have alot of breast meat

  • Who would do this in the living room? I pluck 'em in the kitchen where I can sweep the feathers off the floorboard.

  • aren't pigeons scavengers??

  • Wild pigeons are good to eat, city pigeons have diseases and whatnot.

  • @MSK120 What about suburb pigeons? o3o

  • Hi Mark,

Just a thank you for the excellent vids. Very clear and very useful. I appreciate the effort.

    Regards

    Mark.

  • After the woodie is shot, and meat removed will the meat keep for a day before cooking or should it be frozen.

I am out shooting on the fri and want to serve on the sunday. What is the best thing to do.

  • it will keep for about a week in the fridge

  • you definitely shouldn't miss out on the heart- its delicious

  • I knew a kid who watched this video, then (illegally) shot a few dozen pigeons with an air rifle, and served them at a 4th of July barbecue.

There wasn't much meat on them, so they were just finger food.

But it was a lot cheaper than buying chicken!

  • Awesome video, I did my first pigeon after this vid!

  • how long do you have to hang the pigeon before plucking it??

  • put in it a fridge over night, no longer

  • @barnett682 As he said U pluck a bird as soon as U can after it's death. Then you "age" it, if U wish

  • @5lkk

    yea cheers

  • Great video!! really simple easy instructions !! same for the rabbit vid, no bullshit!! good job

  • Is it weird that this vid makes my mouth water?

    Meso Hungy!

  • WTF breast only, You were wasting lots of meats. Maybe its cultural difference i guess. because ony my country the feathers are the obly one we wont eat.

  • there is no meat on the legs, best used for richening the stock up

  • thanks mate haah i always make a mess i cook mine in the arger wraped in foil with herbs and butter definatly worth waiting pm me

  • Excellent and clear instructions - thanks a lot.

  • thanks, easy enough, free meat from my next shoot!

Also enjoyed the rabbit one, people should really understand that this is what meat IS. Ignore the hard of thinking, they're easy to identify, and please keep providing useful info!

  • can i have the head lol. im just joking

  • plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz skin a fox

  • Comment removed

  • just shot a few pigeons and skinning it right now, thanks so much for the info and vid!!!

  • There doesn't seem to be much meat on a wood pigeon. But I won't knock him; I've tasted pigeon and it's great. Maybe if you raise them domestically and fatten them, there'll be more meat on it.

But I'd need a very large cage to raise them oudoors.

  • Seems like a lot of work for a handful of meat. Wouldn't butchering a chicken, pheasant or turkey take about as much time?

How does the taste compare to those others, is it worth it?

  • these guys a gun at skinning small game

  • wow how about not watching if you're just going to flame.

  • WTF?? u eat pigeons like people that are dumb like u???

  • just a guess, you are ignorant, use the word "like" and you can't punctuate, you are american arent you.

  • Ok one im puerto rican retard two who the hell are u three who ever u are go suck a dick in brodway

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks for the demo, very instructive. A shooting friend has started giving us pigeons , since we don't eat meat I needed to know how to get the guts out, rather than taking cuts off. Two wood pigeons have disapeared into 6 cats a dog, ferrets and crow, all now sitting around looking smug, happy and full. Best of all nothing has gone to waste. Cheers

  • Very Very well done! Thank you for this and your other videos.

  • Excelent demonstration, i kept pulling the guts out and found that i kept bursting the intestin! not a good thing lol

  • excellent, very informative. If you shoot them why not eat them?

  • i woulda cut the butt out

  • nice easy to follow video mark thanks,,i shoot pigeons all year round but never eat them they always go to friends etc..but like you say cheap meat so i shall try it myself now...cedit crunch means we have to subsidise anything we can and 20/30 pigeons a week will help alot lol

  • you wont regret it i think you will kick yourself for not trying it sooner ,i shot my first yesterday with my fenman.22 (head shot)ate it this evening i must say it was very very tasty ive shot and eaten pheasant but for me w/pigeon is better now its decoy time YUM YUM:)

  • Great video, gonna give this a try, shot with a friends shotgun previously but just purchased a new air rifle which should get the job done, this will be lovely with a reduced red wine sauce and sautee potatoes.

  • Great videos mark, well done.

  • i followed these instructions for the first time and will be doing so many nmore times thanks next up pigeon pie

  • Do any of you guys think that you would get more meat by pulling the guts out? I do

  • having done nearly 25,000 pigeons in the last two years i can tell you, you are wrong

  • brilliant... what a top bloke.. made my mouth water... look out pigeons here i come...this is coming from somebody that keeps racing pigeons... many thanks very informative

  • it's incredibly sad to know that you watched both the rabbit video AND this video, even though you were disgusted. If you don't like it

    1. Don't look for these videos

    2. Don't fucking watch them

    3. Grow up.

  • Why the fuck would you fucking click on links that your fucking retarded fucked up friends sent you through fucking msn?

    Oops, you're stupid, I forgot.

  • My point was that you shouldn't click anything that people send you out of whim on the internet.

    Get a highschool education, please.

  • Boo hoo!!!

  • Great video!

Is it safe to assume that any bird can be cleaned the same way?

  • What type of pigeons can't you eat? Or are all edible?

  • i think they are all edible but personallyi woudl avoid rock doves and feral pigeons

  • What knife are you using there? - mine dont seem that sharp... I just make a mess of the job.
