Can't stop a glock!! I wouldn't shoot a gun off underwater but if that pistol did that and didnt blow up I'm impressed... I've seen people torture glocks and they keep shooting!!
never ever shoot a gun underwater, there is a good chance it will explode because of the water filling it, when the round leaves the barrel it stops and all the energy is transferred through the barrel causing it to rupture/explode, depends on the round.
@t8102690 i agree, as long as it doesnt explode! my dad has a 7mm rifle, big fucking rounds, but when the bullet impacts the water the splash is 4 feet into the air. the 7.62mmx51mm NATO is tiny compared to a 7mm bullet, if a 7mm hits you it can take an arm off a skinny person
@chiefBarbose i could, but 7mm is a funky round, with some that are short and some that are long, the 7.62x39 (USSR) is pretty small compared to my dads 7mm, but the 7mm my dad has is like 45-55mm long or something, pretty decent size, i dont know the exact number, but the people that make the round put alot of powder in it, so it flys fast, not so much the size of the round i meant, more the power, plus my dad has friends that make firearms, so it may be a custom round, they made his rifle
So I started at Star Wars the Old Republic, it took me to Star Wars Battlefield, then Call of Duty Mods, then Vulcan Machine gun, then girl gets pistol whipped by Desert Eagle, then I came here.
this shit is just dumb and unproffecinal redneck shit. everyone with a little above average knowlege of guns knows that shooting a gun with the barrel full of whater will in many cases cause the gun to blow up in your hands
@Sindretonnesen glock tests their weapons this way. among others. now i wouldnt make a habit out of doign this. , mainly because youd be oiling and cleaning the weapon on a daily basis lol.
@yamahonkawazuki now why the fuck would glock test theyr guns like this, when the bullet will not be deadly after 2-3 meters underwater anyways? and give me one reason what pratical good reason would come out of it?
@Sindretonnesen thats a good question. glock did this. as well as running one over wiht a vehicle, to show that their weapons can take some s**t and come out shooting. you are right. underwater, shooting is pointless unless you can physically touch your target lol. i did this a few times with my g21. would break it down and oil it after each time. after the second thorough cleaning. i said. lol no more.
@pac6010 very true. most guns are built wiht minimal parts. but still not having to do this each time i decied to shoot anything underwater , is hte rason i ceased doing that. main reason i fired underwater was to get the bullets. non destroyed. but found easier waysto obtain them.
Well of course Glock will say that you can do that with 'their' gun...but it is the same thing with an excessivly oiled barrel, the gun will suffer. You can't shoot out excess oil in the barrel, why should you be able to do so with water?

@captainandree I was thinking the same thing... mythbusters destroyed a rifle by shooting it under water. Sure the hand gun has a little less power than a rifle but it only took to shots to blow a hole inthe side of the barrel.

It hardly counts as a modifacation...you swap the striker spring cups...it takes an expirienced glock owner like 60 seconds to pull the striker and swap em... That said BS you don't need em CCI primers are as hard as any nato primers and all I use...you don't need the cups water gets in and drains out front and back when firing either way...you should detail strip and clean after doing this...and there's really no point to it anyway...when are you as a private citizen gonna need to do that or 9
@MrZeroCelcius Glocks are at least as durable, you can easily fit the grip to your hand, they have a consistent trigger pull, they have a wider aftermarket, more commonality across the platform spectrum (full size, compact, sub-compact) and more caliber options. Oh, and they're less expensive to boot. The only advantages I'd give to Sig are the fact that you can get factory threaded barrels. Glock, for whatever reason, doesn't do this.
@Nater245689 Yeah, I'll give all those points to you. my brother in law is a city cop for denver and thats why he carries a Glock. I grew up owning several Sigs so I'm partial. I always wondered why you can't get a threaded factory Glock? hmm.
@jake921 Yes, high pressure rounds (like a .40 s&w or above) can possibly lead to explosion because of excessive internal pressure. 9x19mm is relatively safe for the pistol and the shooter. also, regardless of the cartridge being fired, it is VERY dangerous to submerge your head and fire because the blast is about 4 times louder underwater. there is a story about a guy who tried to use his Glock 23 (.40 s&w) in the pool and the thing exploded and shrapnel went into his leg and he is now deaf

the problem with underwater shooting is that the water slows down the speed of the shell, so it could jam the gun.

@jake921 because he was completely submerged when firing.
so, to answer your question, an AR-15 would definitely "detonate" if fired underwater.
