  • O god!! I was crying!! It's so beautiful..

  • The music is amazing.........

  • Amazing film :) and amazing music, too. Had me froze :) You are both incredible filmmakers. I am also self taught, but of a younger age. My recent movie has only just come onto YouTube, and, despite being short, was quite difficult to make. Would you both have a look at it? It'd be nice to know what you think :) Josh.

  • Amazing! Brillijantly done guys!

One of the very few short movies that moved me since I watched Tick Tock

  • Very nice, touching, stirred emotions inside me. Well done. :)

  • amazing

  • amazing.....

  • Well done on this short film - I was very close to tears myself! I'm an A2 Film Studies student and I'm making a short film this year that's like this - hopefully your film can inspire me to make something just as emotional! Cheers!

  • Well done on this short film - I was very close to tears myself! I'm an A2 Film Studies student and I'm making a short film this year that's like this - hopefully your film can inspire me to make something just as emotional! Cheers!

  • can't believe how much I cry with this video....

    you did a great job!

  • Soooooooooooooooo.............. Shes a hollogram? Alright thats cool. Whatever.

    o_o

  • @katybug202 Wouldn't that be a twist! Heheh

  • HOT GUY :D

  • Powerful stuff !!!

  • The girl seemed a little too old for him but the cinamatography was very good. The last scene where the camera pulls away from him at the beach was as professional as it gets. Well done.

  • Beautiful..

  • girly, boring and predictable

  • I feel that this wasn't clear enough early on, and didn't have a shocking enough end revelation to make it heart touching enough. I know you worked in an 8 minute time frame, but I guessed what was going on with the prism based upon the square one (like you hinted at) but it was too unclear as to what happened to her for me to really understand the character's feelings or motivations. Also, something about the actors bothered me (not acting, just aesthetically.) However, I didn't dislike it :)

  • @XeroShifter

i completely agree on everything you said.

  • This was really powerful. :) Great film!

  • Wow. Beautiful.

  • @CutenessIzzPower Glad you appreciated it.

  • where did you learn to make films like this?

  • @AYHASfilms Eric and I are self taught.

  • This short film still loves me.

  • @AlbertisHollywood That is always nice to hear...

  • beautiful.

  • Nice

  • Cool

  • woww

  • Meh, my honest opinon... it was obvious that she was dead(of course). I felt that you should of put it in a way that was ambigous (if she was alive or something else) to throw us off. Then later show she was dead. That would of been perfect. Other than that not bad. Btw i love that last scene when he threw that thing and the camera dolly out with the ambients <3

  • Excellent. Very well written, shot and edited. Acting was first-rate. More real emotion than in most full length films. I felt it.

  • I cried, A lot! Thanks for creating this wonderful film.

  • amazing! I am going to try to do a film something like this and it opened up a whole new place to go with my film. Love it!

  • Chris George is a Genius.... He should be one his way to be some A-List film-composer... Good Short-film.

  • Here's how I see it: the girl is dead, and the pyramid is some sort of device that the guy uses so he could still be with her, but not with her real self, just a hologram. Then he realizes that he had to let go. Am I right?

  • @892lgy7382 Nailed it.

  • @thedusty I'm glad I did. I love this film. Why aren't you making more short films in this channel?

  • @892lgy7382 Well, not sure there's a clear answer. Eric and I are both busy with kids and though are films are decent they're probably not good enough to have us earn a living. If we come up with another fun idea thats really compelling, we might make another. We appreciate your support though!

  • gave me shivers

  • This is so emotionally strong for me. I thought I was the only person who was insane. haha. I felt and did the same thing. It was hard to let go and it was hard just to live through a day. Thank you. It has been quite a long time since I cried that hard for her.

  • When i first saw this a few months ago i thought it was good.. however watching it later on after falling in love you can understand it in more depth.. makes me cry , so much emotion, love this film! :)

  • brilliant

  • Do you know where I could possibly get the songs in the movie?

The whole film was amazing. Touched me quite a lot as I have lost someone and I miss her very much. I guess I have to let go soon, though. I have watched this about 50 times!

  • @MrJoshuaYoYo The music is original for the film but I'll email the composer and point him to your post. We'll if he minds sharing it beyond the film.

We're glad you enjoyed our little film. We hope time heals and you find comfort in ultimately letting go.

  • The part where she wanted to hold his hand but doesn't is just so sad..

  • this has to be about the 100th time i have watched this video and i love it each and every time... love the music, the cinematography, and the acting... he really lets us feel what he is feeling, his joy, his sorrow, and his pain... kudos to everyone involved with the video!!!!!

  • This is way better then signs!!

  • i bet the editing of this video took months. :) very creative.

  • this film is about letting go of something that you can't seem to let go of. the pyramid is the representative of his love & memories of the woman. when he said "do you think i'll do better tomorrow" it meant that he tried letting go several times but couldn't. & her saying "don't you still love me" is him feeding himself reasons not to let go. made me cry.

  • one of the best 10 minutes i have spent on youtube,, loved it!

  • Great vid! Powerful message!

  • what is the significance of the pyramid in her hand and the sun in his at the beach at 4:34

  • wow i love this movie, such a great story, love the beach shots and the music

  • It's just raining on my eyes. I'm not crying.

  • Nice cinematography.

  • That was so touching, so beautifully done.. Without any question, its pretty much one of the best short films I've ever seen. Sad to see quality gems like this so rare.

  • Made me cry.

Maybe I'm just being a big baby today, but I doubt it. This short film definitely has a way of touching a certain part of the heart.

    Very nicely done.

  • wow lived it dejavu

  • it is too sad 4 me

  • THAT WAS SO BEAUTIFUL. And soooo sad. I've watched quite a lot of short flims today, and this has to be the best--best quality, best music, best symbolism, best story.

  • WOW!!! I really liked it... So much better than most of the dreck thats on here... 2 thumbs up!!!

  • I think she drowned, thats the reason for the sea water reference, The crystal generates a hologram from his memories she's always in the same clothes. Its all in his mind.

"I come out here alone sometimes"

Very good. I like signs too

  • Wow, very nice short film, even a tear rolled off.

  • i liked this, it was simple and elegant. There were no twists or sharp turns or any humor, instead it focused on his daily torment/routine . It was predictable and at the same time beautiful.

  • This is great! A very harmonic peace of art. All the best guys for future projects.

  • That's a pretty good special effect for "absolutely zero budget." Not that I judge films exclusively by special effects, but still...this whole thing was fantastic.

  • what is the back ground music????

  • @golchere: It's all an original score done by Chris George.

  • Oh man =[ I never new short films could make me feel that way.

  • Wow! The acting moved me. I never thought a short film could make me cry but this film did. Great work!

  • i really enjoyed the beach shots, it seems that it was important to the story. Theres this online film festival at BIGSTARtv that is awarding 50K as the grand prize, you should check it out!

  • this is lovely

  • =')

  • signs and finite are both exceptional films. Both of them evoke so much emotion. Love them both!

  • wow! amazing! say good-bye to the past even if it is very precious

  • How happy is find that person, give your heart ..... love it ... and then a bye. This film describes everything I feel.

  • she seems like a reflection in his mind, very nice.

  • i can feel the emotions all around me. great film! :)

  • this is the first time i see this film and i think is amazing!!!great shots and acting!!!could i somehow have as friends on facebook maybe,to keep in touch, the people who made and acted in this great piece?if not, anyway congratulations!!!!!!!!!

  • Beautiful

  • It's so true. Yes, I did finally throw the hologram away...I think :)

  • Nice movies... The sound is a bit crappy though. Really nice.

  • A very powerful moving short film, really well shot. Good job.

  • simple

  • very emotinal :(

  • Very sad but beautiful and touching none the less. Kudos for this great short.

  • what is the background music

  • It was a score made for the short film.

  • i loved it =] beautiful

  • Great film man Awesome score and thought the pacing and cutting were spot on too.. beauty!

  • Great short.

  • It's good. But Signs is much more emotional.

  • yeah signs is like the best...of all

  • & don`t compare signs with this one.. signs is far far better than this...

  • We agree...'Signs' is a wonderful short film and quite a few notches above FINITE.

  • but i did rate 5 as your cinematography is superb... cheers!!! for your future stuff..

  • No worries. We make these for fun with absolutely zero budget or training....to be even be mentioned along side short films like 'Signs' is fine by us.

  • this is beautiful. everything about it.

  • so rare to find quality short films today. Thank you for this beautiful piece. Very emotionally touching.

    Keep it up!

  • -Storyline, Cinematography, Directing actors, Music are good

    - Some shots gave away the ending of the film way too early which revealed that the woman was a hologram which could have added an amazing twist to the end of the story if applied properly.

-The repetition in the end of the film of the exposition of the hologram could have been cut with a feeling of continuity instead, that would have added more of a professional feel instead of an emotional one.

    - Good film in general

  • amazing!!! Great job!!!

  • Wow! this is breathtaking.

    A true pearl!

It captures perfectly how los feels.

  • Although I dont quite understand this film. It hurt. Made losing love seem painful..

  • Plain and simple this is one of the best shorts i've seen... kudos

  • goostbumbs man, awsome movie. especially at the end, where he holds the christal for the very last time, before he is about to trow it in the ocean.

just for the emotional charge you give the audience, you deserve the credits of a good movie. i wonder, have you ever experienced something like this yourself and made the movie after, or waited a long time to recover from it and then made the movie...

either cases, you learned a lot. ;) which is letting go!

  • magnifique!

  • What was that pyramid thing he threw?

  • I think maybe the film was set in a time where there is technology like that. I think the pyramid is meant to be a sort of hologram device that projects an identical image to the person you want. The pyramid could also mean that it shows us what we really long for, and that when he throws it away, it is what we want to do which is take our sadness away so that we can get on with our lives.

I loved this film, I hope Eric and Dusty make more like them.

A very touching and heartwarming film

  • I'd agree. Glad you enjoyed it. -

    - Dusty

  • it's a heart warming flick.. ;) continue this..

  • i'm gnna cry . hahah hmm it doesn't catch my attention but i guess it is not bad

  • Beautiful short film! Great story! Turn it into a feature!

  • i think it would be better, when there were sub. ´cause i can´t really understand everything...

    but i love it :)

  • wow i have not seen this for ages i think maybe a year!!! gets me everytime though

  • Brilliant!...

  • omg this is so beautiful i cried :(

  • I cried when I watched this ! =((

  • that was an amazing film...

  • :*) spectacular!!!!!!

    *applause*

    i enjoyed it.

  • love'd it !

  • well done i'm impressed!!!!!!

  • Great short, I'm really glad I clicked on your video. You had some really BEAUTIFUL shots on the beach. Great work!!

  • Beautifully exectued. One of the best short films I've seen. Love the images, the effects, and kudos to everyone involved!

  • One of my all time favorite Youtube vids. Must've watched it about 30 times (really). Beautifully shot. I just loved how you placed the sun and weren't afraid of the backlighting. Dreamy, the color, the fast flashbacks, the slo mo, shallow DoF, the soft and out of focus-- MMMMmm. The soundtrack dovetailed perfectly with the visuals and intensified towards the end. And then the story itself was very telling and yet so vague at the same time. Can't get enough of it.

  • BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wow these videos are old i wish these guys still made films

  • OMG what a brilliant film, brilliantly edited, fantastic shots, brilliant acting, amazing locations! bloody hell i am jealous!

  • The editing in this film is AMAZING!!!! I really enjoyed watching it, thanks!

  • wow this video almost made me cry the first time i saw it. It's such a great video, and i don't really like stuff like this. great job

  • i cried. i know the feeling so strongly. even an ounce brings it out in me. and i'm not one to cry.

  • quite simply BRILLANT!!!!

  • This film is beautiful.

  • Dude, that seriously made me wanna cry. Very well done!

  • i agree, awesome stuff, slow begining but it just looks so good you just cant wait to see the secret of everything

    xoxo

  • incredible acting

  • My Friend Chris showed me this video because the man who did the score for it is also doing a score for a video he is working on. I am blown away by it. Excellent! I would love a full 2 hour version of this story. Thanks so much for sharing it!

  • Stunning Cinematography...absolutely stunning...you've got many facets working well together here...I almost turned away from this...very slow beginning...but I'm glad I didn't...whooosh! Special effects on a no budget flick - insane, what program - after effects? The symbolism oohweee! Alright, cough it up: what's the secret? 24p and what? Is that just superior lighting???

  • Thank you for the feedback and we're pleased you enjoyed it. Charlie Johnson, a local sfx guy, did our effects and I believe he used a few things to achieve the look. Yes, we did shoot in 24p w/ a Panny DVX100. We focused on the lighting but we did it on the cheap...we used fluorescent long-bulbs with the sunlight temperature we picked up from walmart. Other than that we just took our time until we got a reasonable look. We're new to this though so it's no where near perfect.

  • did you use a pro 35 adaptor with fast lenses?

cuz i doubt you'll get this look with just the panasonic digital cam...

  • No adapters were used. We played with object/person distance to create the depth of field sensation.

  • I loved this film. The way it was shot especially. If I could only make my movies this good.

  • what is the song used after the beach scene when they are lying in bed together? By the way, very well done.

  • It's all an original score done by Chris George.

  • oh my god. that was amazingly done. your actors were so believable.

that should be 2 hours longer.

  • So beautiful :(

  • amazing

  • reading through the comments, i'm left with nothing else original to say about this short film. So, it's beautiful!

  • Beautiful! Very enjoyable and great acting!

  • still a grate movie!

  • Great film guys! Its awesome where a little philosophy, initiative and todays relatively low-cost technology can take us.

Take a look at my video; its made in a similar spirit, Finitude/Absurdity.

Take care and keep creating ;)

  • I liked it a lot.Nice execution

  • Thanks for the feedback and we're glad you enjoyed it. The film was edited on Final Cut Pro.

  • wow love it

  • tooo good..!!!

Which camera is this and where are you guys located?

  • We used a DVX100 and we're in Dallas, TX. We're glad you enjoyed it.

  • i liked it very much, it was serious without being pretentious.

  • excellent

  • what camera did you use? digital or film?

  • We used a digital camera.

  • wow. sweet short man, or guys i mean.

  • pretty amazing

  • damn... daar mogen ze een full movie van maken ! die koop ik!

  • damn... im speechless

  • I do not generally invest more that 3 min to any You Tube production, for obvious reasons. However this short film hooked me almost immediately! Fantastic, great acting, super editing, just a super production. I hope to see more.

  • I love your video... I've watched it probably a hundred times since I first saw it like an year ago.. And it still makes me cry everytime.

  • that was pretty good. What was the budget? Watch my film. Budget: $500 (NZ)

  • It was pretty much a zero budget film. We did spend money on hotel and food when we traveled to the beach about 5 hours away.

  • Amazing..

  • OMG this had me welling up! Absolutely fantastic in every way! Definately the best short film I have ever seen, period. And by far the best video on You-tube! This deserves an Oscar!

  • That was really good! Hope to see more.

  • was this shot on 16mm, 32mm or super 8 ?

  • None of the above. We shot in digital using a Panasonic dvx100 in 24fps.

  • this film is gorgeous beyond words, if you guys ever find yourselves in miami shooting a movie please let me know, I'd love to contribute, act, anything. your stuff is amazing!

ps: i really liked the fact that he threw his finited love into the infinite sea, its something to keep you at thought.

  • very VERY good. The main actor could make millions in Hollywood if he catches a few breaks. Good directing, best short film video I have seen on YouTube.. and I'm a guy who isn't heatbroken. Very very VERY good work.

  • i still say this film is perfect!

  • Welcome back...we're glad you still like it!!!

  • thanks i hope to see more of your films and to see u guys get some awords for then.

  • My husband died four years ago....this film captures perfectly how loss feels.

    Thank you...

  • are you guys in any film school right now, or just pursuing the industry on your own? (if you don't mind me asking)

  • Jonathan, we're self taught. FINITE is our 2nd short film and part of the process we're using to teach ourselves.

  • amazing cinematography and editing

  • Nice production, 5 stars.
