  • i been living in new york for 12 years,i can tell this is in union square subway station by just looking at this, how come i never meet this guy? or i will filming him.

  • Oh My God im jealous of this man!

  • @en1gma79 hes playing hava nagila at 2:30, its an israeli song

  • @dominicvine What's the song he starts playing at 2:30?

  • Comment removed

  • what is the song at 2:30???

  • Anyone who can play the accordian is a coordinated genius

  • Who would dislike this?

  • Comment removed

  • i love this! im at W4 almost everyday and i'm positive hearing him on my way to school or back would just make my day. wish he was still there

  • actually he is in New York at the moment

  • really? where is he usually?

  • There is something about this video that's incredibly sad. I can't quite put my finger on it but I'm drawn to it

  • the sad thing is hes not famous yet

  • @luvlac64 people walking by... :(

  • id givem a 100

  • the second melody is swedish

  • He's drinking pepsi.

  • music is definitely better when it is played for others.

for example i prefer this version of hava nagila, than others you can find in "serious" youtube versions

  • That is so cool. I wish there were people like that at my local subway

  • daca asta-i muzica moldoveneasca.....eu sunt turc.Mai trebuie pistolul....

  • i would give him 20$ for that!!

  • Moldavia is part of Romania (Est Romania), noroc.

  • Get a job?

I would assume he has one or at least have some money behind him, considering how epensive accordian's are.

A full sized and fuctioning accordian costs about 20,000 pounds, one of this size will cost around three to four hundred.

  • Inheritance, who knows.

Most buskers don't have jobs that's why they busk.

  • Have you seen this man around? I want to ask my friend in NY to find him and give some money. If i'm ever in a bad mood i watch this video, and I am happy :-D

  • indeed, it was a part of Romania long ago..

  • where is moldavia nice guy regards

  • id throw him my credit card he is my favorite player of teh accordian

  • Everybody ===)))))))

  • i like this guy

  • Where is this video from? NYC?

    Greetings from México.

  • yea nyc

  • this is definitely america. unless whole foods made it to russia.

  • hey people! what are you doing, this is very goood instrumental music, but is moldavian music because i'm from moldova. He is in Russia and he makes some money, but he is not making any money for life.Iknow that.

  • USA, he is speaking english, the italian guy sang an italian song i bet they are in NY,NY WHERE ALL US IMIGRANTS CAME FROM STARTED W/NOTHING AND NOW WE ON IT!

  • Yes... "the irish been coming here for years... they feel like the own the place. got the city halls, dance halls... even got the police. irish, italiand, jews and hispanics.. religious nuts, political fanatics in the stew... happily not like me and you... that's where i lost you in New York"

  • god bless america!

  • I just loved this guy!!!

  • It's much worse in this country than in most in Europe...

we give more attention to panic, drama and fear

and most of our tax dollars goes to war.

at least there is support of the Arts and Paris

but, again, don't think that just because they're on the streets in these big cities it's because they HAVE to be

modern pop culture wouldn't go to see these guys in theaters...

so by them playing in public spaces they get to do what they enjoy doing and see the smiles on people's faces...

  • @dominicvine which station/s do you usually find him in? I think I may have heard him in Grand Central between the #7 and #4,5,6 stairways???

  • The song in Kill Bill movie-Lonely Shepherd, by Gheorghe Zamfir, you`ve prbly heard it& liked it, but the man was seen doing his job in subway in Paris, not a very long time ago..isn`t that shame in one way or another?

  • Moldova is the poorest country in Europe, i`m moldavian myself, people are taking the piss because of that sometimes, of course i don`t care much, but still..

Does the word poor=bad? or poor=prick?

We still have the russians on our back sucking our "blood" for years, they! don`t let us to lead a democratic life & never did in history, we are just small country(being separated from mother-land Romania)everyone around is kicking us, shame..

P.S. God bless the man on the video & the poster.

  • Thank you for your comment! I assume the oppression over the years hasn't dampened the Moldavian spirit (the guy in the video loves life, I'm sure) and when we crash and the Chinese and Arabs own us, I hope we can be as joyful in spite of it.

  • my point was also that we have qualified doctors, musicians ect.. on the streets, and that`s not the place for all these talented people(do you really think that the man on the video is just an amateur?).

  • Very Well!!!

  • nice guy,respect!

  • wonderful. thank you for sharing.

  • played at any italian/polish wedding!

  • except the heb music.

  • IL BALLO DEL QUA QUA!!!!!!! Fantastic! What do you think of Italian music? ;)

  • Vossevangen sangen!! Eg køyre toog t vossevangen.. Noke sånt hvertfall :D

  • One day I'll be good again....5 year layoff isn't good...but now I have the money to buy any accordion that I want and to get lessons from whoever I want.....Thank you Jesus.

  • I wish I was there to give him a dollar or two

  • Accordian is my favourite instrument

  • Wow! He's an Exellent Accordian Player!

  • Amazing!!! Great accordeon player!

  • Why do the good musicians end up playing in subway stations, while people like Fergie and Britney are making it big?

  • very true, very true indeed!

  • yer i agree jill

    this man is genuinly talented

and although i dont speak moldovian he seems to b quite a character

i suppose ppl listen to what they know (britney/fergie) and arent really adventurous enough to give this guy a chance when tho he is amazingly good

i want an accordian now lol

  • sensational! ...this is one of my favourite videos on youtube... could you get any more of him?

  • i haven't seen him around lately: the subway tunnels are hell in the summer..

    when it gets cooler

expect to see more of him

  • god bless the poor old man

  • exception made for the beautiful middle balcanian tune, these are all italian folk songs; a napolitan "Tarantella", "il ballo del qua qua", "come facette mammeta"and "o'sole mio"

  • this guy is amazing and truly loves playing, you can hear it!

    i love nyc.

  • At the end were they singing O Sole Mio?It sounded like that at the end.

  • yes they were indeed singing O sole Mio. Someone anyone who knows the title of the song before that ?

  • if you can post more video's from this guy yer gonna make a lot of people happy. I play the accordion for a month now and if I heard this man play.... damn what can I say. If I would live in NYC I'd go there and simply take lessons from him. He's awesome. thank you for sharing this video.

  • He does give lessons... a friend of mine asked him and he said he would. I don't have an Accordian or i would take lessons from him myself!

  • At first I was confused about this video. I was thinking "are there subways in Moldova now?" But I see this is a Moldavian in NY.

  • bravo

  • I run into him so often. Whenever he sees me he starts playing the tarantella because the first time I saw him I was with a bunch of Italians and they requested it. I had actually never asked him where he was from and I didn't know he was Moldovan. Do you know if he's Russian speaking or Romanian/Moldovan speaking?

  • he might be both cuz most moldavians are bilingual

  • I keep meeting Russian only speakers meanwhile I speak Romanian. It's disappointing!

  • Ампер-час, вы говорите русского?

  • i speak Moldavian

  • Ce faci?

  • nici

  • Sint fucking bored.

  • lol te duc la moldova

  • bafta frate

  • This guy is famous now lol, pretty good.

  • wow...4 a hobo in a subway, he's pretty good. only messed up 2wce 1 in tarentella, 1 in horra. <--p.s. I spell tat rite?

  • you mean 'hora?' a moldavian folk dance...

  • if you meant the moldavian 'hora' then i dont hear any of it in this video. im moldavian so i can tell when he performs something in moldavian style.

  • wow, that's how you play an accordian

  • Good old man

  • what is the name of the first song he is playing? does anybody know?

  • Tarantella - it's Italian

  • wow! He's great!

    I really enjoyed this :)

  • OH is this the same accordion player on the Union Square station! i love him

  • nice music, nice man

  • OMG! i think the guy is great! do u know if he still plays on that station, i would love to see him!

  • He plays mostly at Broadway Lafayette and West 4th.

  • Brilliant. Brought back many childhood memories for me of my father when he used to play many similar tunes on the accordian.

  • still u hav 2 feel sorry him somehow. i wanna hug him and give him 20 dollars for a day or two at burger king or something. =')

  • Brilliant! :D

  • And

he's not on the street either: he's in the subway

and many people who play in the subway

    aren't doing it to survive

a bit of extra money, yes

but it's the joy of performing

when, say... you can't be on stage.

(though he HAS been on stage in NYC ... a few times!)

  • yeah actually i just heard that they get paid by MTA to sing the subway? maybe i was wrong before that, and if i was then im sorry :-).

  • it is very sad the fact that the guy comes from one of the poorest countries in the world and winds begging in the streets in the US i come from Moldova and I moved here due to the financial disaster in Moldova but I was a little bit more fortunate that the man on the video. Ce sa spui, este un om batut de viata! translated: poor guy :-(.

  • No no no

    Not "Poor Guy"

he's a very happy and friendly guy

    i love him very much

    - i don't think he does this to survive

    sure

    the change helps

    sure

but he REALLY enjoys playing music for children

and those of us who dance and sing along with him

  • yeah well my first pression when i saw this video was like 'oh my God. I feel so bad for him" but now when i found out thats a good of making money i was really surprised. he is great though :-)!

  • hey man buskers make a alot of money he aint begging and all there money is tax free he's ace

  • badass
