  • Jesus Christ. This is the most overly complicated explanation I've ever heard. I'd hate to see this guy explain how to tie shoelaces.

  • .....Really?

  • REJECT THE MOTHERBOARD.

  • My finger slightly brushed a few pins because you made me so worried my hands wouldn't stop shaking. Googled it and it won't do any damage luckily.

  • what happens if my load lever is at aprrox. 136 degrees? oh and i forgot to wear my hazmat suit to install a cpu

  • guys, i accidentally put the processor the wrong way for a second then i put it in the right position during the second attempt, would this affect the cpu at all?

  • well

  • I see he didn't measure the degree's of the cpu locking arm\handle with a degree meter or advanced micrometer ... For shame...

    ...lol

  • Thnxx....It helped me a lot....thank you very much

  • thermal interface WTF? 135 degrees WTF? retention tab WTF?

  • what a smart ass

  • @gtaguy235 makes the world go round

  • @mrjzxv What?

  • Well u did an ok job of explaining it but c'mon man, who uses a Pentium 4 any more? I'll stick with my i5 thanks!

  • @joelikewhoa727 ...me

  • @joelikewhoa727 This video is from 2006, there was no i5

  • @joelikewhoa727 are you retarded? check the upload date...

  • LOOOOOOOOOOL

  • amd 4ever

  • a 135 degrees, come on man

  • Have you got movie How to uninstal CPU Intel Celeron 266Mhz?

  • Perfect

  • I feel inclined to make a comment regarding a recording toaster...still, a good video!

  • Absolutely fantastic how-to. Thanks for posting this!

  • Thank you so much! Im planning on switching my Dual Core 1.8Ghz with a 3.0 one.

  • My load lever is only 128 degrees, is that a problem?

  • after you installed the cpu then you have to install something on the pc?? a programm or something

  • pentium 4

  • my computer explosed..

  • lol its so cautious

  • did you say not to apply thermal paste???

  • @6580006247 It was already applied

  • very helpful

  • i cant even take the fan of XD,

it is an intel fan tough! it has the same screw like things, can anyone tell me how to unscrew that thing, i tried everything, unscrewing, pulling, pressing...

it has an arrow that shows (i think) the direction of screwing and unscrewing, please help!!!

  • i just noticed that is the same processor that i am putting on

  • WOW! Goggles, apron and gloves to install a cpu?... seems like as if you're disarming a bomb! :D

  • Awoid contact with l-775 procesors :DD

  • thankyou!!! :D

  • i bought a new fan, and it doesn't fit. i have an intel core 2 duo, and it should be just like this, but it has holes for actual screws

  • lol @ the outfit

  • accent is a win.

  • Wow. This video makes such a simple procedure look and sound so complicated. This is *not* rocket science, people. But that being said, it does make for a decent tutorial for absolute beginners (provided they haven't been scared out of performing their own CPU installations).

  • i have 2 cpu's but only one is running any way i can make both run? :)

  • HEy Intel inside 4 is what i have!!!!! but im wanting to upgrade it not buy a new computer so if i buy intel i7 i could just do what you do right?

  • i was thinking about upgrading but this looks like some next level surgical precision is needed.

  • If I am changing my cpu but keeping same fan heatsink do I need to add thermal paste?

  • Comment removed

  • Nice, new to the plastic twist scheme, thx

  • i broked my amd ;(

  • would you think upgradeing from a 1.60 ghz to a 2.13 ghz prosssors would actually make a diffrence?

  • @greatsmither depends on what brand and the other specs of the faster processor. Most circumstances it won't change speeds too much, just a little bit.

  • @greatsmither, yes but 2.13ghz is still quite slow..

  • This Helped us alot, we had problems with the click screws, but watching the video got us to do right. Thank you mate.

  • this is the best tutorial on youtube (for me)

  • why would he push it hes so stupid

  • that help me much

  • thermal grease?

  • he pushed the processor FAIL do not push todays processor!

  • @antscustomcomputers Oh, Thanks for the info ! do they still make replacement 478 Pin celerons ? or do you have to get a used one ?

  • I thought the pentium 4 processors were 478 pin not 775 ? I know the P4 processor I have is 478 pin and I also have a 478 pin celeron. What gives here ?

  • @1972FordF150 they made both 775 and 478 P4s, the 775 are overall a little faster, and they can be upgraded to at least a Core2Duo.

  • @DarknessKingCoH I know, Thanks.

  • Do most processors come with that fan/heatsink? I ordered a Pentium dual-core, I hope it's included.

  • This video makes me extremely nervous about installing my CPU :(

  • i have learn from this video thanks MvT

  • brain surgery

  • OMFG hes wearing an apron, goggles, and gloves to put a processor?!?!?! hes not working with uranium DAMN.......

  • @kevin10r He doesnt want the radiation from the powerful processor to damage his starwars undies.

  • @kevin10r If you don't use at least, globes, you could damage the processor with your static.

  • @Season2Glee would a anti static wrist strap be fine?

  • @kevin10r The power of Pentium 4 is something to be feared.

  • great video but i would still be nervous installing an i7 extreme

  • Extremely Well Video.

  • Lmao... Using goggles and gloves when installing a CPU... Its not like his disarming a bomb, lol. and he sounds like he is teaching 4-year-olds.

  • @jookur Well with the average level of intellegence regarding pc's and their maintenance he may as well be :p.

  • thanks for this video , it really helped :D

  • Don't you need thermal paste???

  • why do i feel like im disarming a bomb when im taking this apart

  • @madzane94

Well when somebody knows nothing about CPU installation and there are many people overeacting about the difficulty of installing one, its nice to be reasured, seems pretty simplistic to me.

  • Thank you for submitting this. A lot more informative than the overly simplistic booklet that the things come with.

  • @Aleryn27 your welcome

  • do newer processor come with heatsink fans? my heatsink fan died and i was planning on upgrading to the new ifamily anyway

  • @ChrisDokProductions Gl on using a broken processor?

  • @Spookbros lawl

  • LOL! What are the safety glasses for?

i don't think, that the CPU will explode...

  • Is this a nuclear factory? Lmao.

  • @JHendrix721 dude cpus are so easy to fuck up, this is a really good tutorial

  • @951258tike22

Hey, by the way with an Intel i5 cooler do i need to apply thermal paste or do i use the thermal pad? And also does the cooler install differently?

  • @brendude95 the i5 probably has paste pre applied, as for the installation, it will still use the 4 screw things.

  • @951258tike22

Ah excellent, as in the type of screws in this video or typical screws? Would you recommend a better cooler rather than the stock Intel one?

  • @brendude95 it will be the same or very similar to the ones in the video, the i5 cooler should be plenty unless you plan on heavy overclocking.

  • @951258tike22

I would say from 2.66ghz to the 3.5ghz area

  • @brendude95 well... yeah you might want to consider upgraded cooling if youre gonna go that much.

  • @951258tike22

Ok, i might not overclock it much, but how much faster is an i5? Would 2.66ghz be equivelant to a 3.5ghz C2Q?

  • @brendude95 i own an i5. its very hard to say what an equivalent would be, but i doubt it would be that drastic. you also have DDR3 ram, so this might give a fair old boost.

the real advantage is you can clock an i5 750 to like 4 ghz on the same cooling you might only be able to pull 3.2 out of a C2Q on. the stock cooler will get you to 3 ghz easily. i got some fancy air cooling and got to 4.0 ghz. water cooling would be higher still.

  • @Splooshiba

Ahh i would think the i5 would give a good 25% performance boost over a C2Q...and i will be overclocking it...im only 14 and i have just bought an ATI HD 5770...so i think i will wait a bit before i upgrade CPU and Mobo...

  • Thermal compound?

  • Not gonna lie...this is NOTHING like how most people install CPUs...its more like "Take out...put in" done

  • How many times are you going to say "load" in one video?

  • @ombladon00

relax music, simple! gay music is Metal 0.o

  • WOW this is really simple to do lol i got ripped off >:O

  • hello thermal paste!?!?!?!? ok well i guess i dont need any lol... they should cover how to put the thermal paste on as it is vital to the instalation of the cpu

  • @blowupuate13 They all come with a layer of thermal paste on them already, if you want to use your own you have to wipe off the already applied paste and apply your own. The factory applied paste is good enough.

  • @blowupuate13

    It's already on the heatsink...

He only said it about 5 times...

Showed it on the vid, and even said where to get replacement.

    ADD much?

  • just shove it in there and hope for the best

    just like sex

  • @getaname20 *swoosshh* lol..

  • hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

they're making it look so complicated

  • cooling paste?

  • you don't need gloves to install a cpu lol

  • gay

  • same heatsink for my i7

  • lower it with a verticlal motion, rofl trofl

  • why do you have to be so bluddy precise?? it's not a nuclear bomb it's a fucking cpu for god sake!!

  • @MrAndrewjs

    hahahahaha

  • @MrAndrewjs how do u no it isnt going into one later O.o

  • yeah men

  • never used anything for static and always works fine. never seen anyones computer not work because of it. they exaggrate the static...

  • VERY exaggerated, using googles for install a simple cpu cooler, XD. and the music is very gay.

  • @DinamicTree omg! why could someone need googles? it's a fvcking cpu... not sulfuric acid. LOL

  • @yosmer333 prevents eyelashes entering the cpu.

  • sounds like fag RPG music

  • Wrong donot follow, when installing the fan you must push the pins the are diagionally at the same time. So you will basically be push 1 and 3 at the same time then 2 and 4 at the same time. Intel has updated the video.

  • @uphill248 Core 2 extreme is much better than the Core 2 duo, because the Core 2 extreme is a quad core and has higher clock rates, and more cache.

  • Depends. Quad is better for multitasking and multiple calculations but the duo is better for Gaming and such because it has more dedicated processing to single applications rather than multiple.

  • what would be considered an "ESD-safe" surface?

  • bag(not box) the motherboard was in, cardboard, wood, stone, also ***avoid*** carpet

  • Kinda messed up: My new heatsink didn't fit. My previous heatsink had screws. The new one has pushpins. But the pushpins didn't fit. However, someone told me it would fit... Fuck. Now typing from my father's laptop... getting thermal paste for my old heatsink tomorrow.

  • @FRURMELLL check if there is any plate on the back of the motherboard

remove it and then follow the instructions of the cooler

  • why the fuck is he wearing safety glasses!?. This is a CPU installation not a god damn nuke testing shit!

  • lol

  • lol, maybe he didnt turn the power off.

you can explode a processor with over clocking :P lmao. that would be sad, since this is probabally a instuctional video by intel.

  • Haha, so true

  • thanks

  • Gah, these fans are freakin' impossible to reinstall properly.

  • Hard to install, lousy CPU fan. Intel, why can you just just reduce the price on your F cpu without your stupid fan which is so hard to install, noisy and useless?

  • I agree totally with the shittest fan system ever!

  • Well Intel Fan are lousy. The CPU fan always cannot be aligned properly

  • really useful

    thank u :)

  • I learned a lot today...

  • I have a socket 775 motherboard. Will any processor, made for 775, fit in it?

  • it will fit but make sure that the processor is compatible with your motherboard

  • yes

  • only on what the mb can support

  • duhhh, ofc it will xD

  • you will need to look your motherboards FSB first

  • Check the motherboard main site, sometimes if the CPU has a smaller architecture it won't be compatible.

  • yeah fuck you intel, you created the shittiest system to install a fan possible.

  • OK, I just made a system. I noticed a change in the light pattern on the socket contact array (I hadnt seen this vid then) and thought it was supposed to be that way. Obviously I went ahead and built this system. Its running fine and without roblems. Anyone have any advice for me?

  • thanks

  • are u stupid wearing woolen gloves?! statik electricity u dumbo.., use rubber gloves

  • @Kolizzz

You definitely have no idea what your talking about. They are ESD gloves that don't conduct static electricity. Think before you comment.

  • /facepalm

  • yea rubber gloves! what a great idea !!! -.-

  • lol, I like how they tried to make something super easy sound complicated. Another thing I don't understand is why would they say that the cpu is meant to be installed by a professional. This must be Intel's way of making you cough up more money by getting their customer support to put together a computer for you. Honestly putting in not just the cpu but building whole computer is so easy a retard could do it, and the motherboard manual helps you if you're clueless.

  • anyone know if any computer can get the cpu upgraded because i got my computer from bestbuy but i dont know if i need to get a different mother board to do it

  • @SANTIAGO103094: First off, you need to download CPU-Z. With that, you can see which socket you have. If you know that, move on to your motherboard. To find it just look up your computer's model number. At the information page of the motherboard, search for the FSB speed, or Front side bus speed. It must be the same as the fsb of the new cpu. It CAN be lower, but decreased performance will be noticeable. And finally make sure your power supply can handle it. Find a matching CPU and buy it!

  • at 6:35 you can see exposed pind

  • so most heat-sinks coem with thermal compound already applied? nice

  • hi me has problim wit cat, pls help

  • 135* and 100* NO MORE, NO LESS!!11

  • lol

  • BULL FUCKING SHIT!!!!

  • Lol

  • hey when installing a new motherboard and cpu processor do u need to reboot windows again or is it just plug and play??

  • If you mean, can you install a new motherboard/CPU with the power on. then its a definite NO

  • no i mean after u install the motherboard and cpu processor do u need to reinstall windows again??

  • NO! DO NOT REINSTALL WINDOWS

  • if you are putting a new motherboard in, then yes you will need to reinstall windows, cuz its a whole new board with a different hardware.. if its just the CPU, then no.

  • Do I need to wear safety glasses like the man in the video?

    jokes,,,, LMAO

  • what kind of gloves would u use

  • In LGA1366 sockets are harder, you will have to apply much force. Don't worry about breaking the mobo. They put a metal plate for protection. They did this like this for better pin contact.

Thank you for this video btw.

  • always relieved to see stock fan coolers come with pre-applied thermal compound.

    god those are a pain.

  • i put in the cpu my self u waste money for professionals to install and remove it

  • hey guys im using amd now so can i change to inter Processor, thanksss

  • No, if you have an AMD motherboard an intel processor wont work in it.

  • CPU compatibility is determined by the motherboard.

You need to check the manufacturer's website to check which sockets are compatible with the motherboard.

Unless it is a legacy motherboard and CPU, I find it rare that you will find a modern motherboard that supports both.

Again, please check the manufacturer's website to confirm.
