I was listening to the radio & heard this song by Conway & others with a little more up-beat. I'm just not sure who they were. Can anyone help me out?
I still hold that tesla is the best version, but apreciate all the others. Anyone should check it out, it just captures the essence with his crude voice
Like this song & being a Conway fan I like that he put it onto one of many albums. A song that applies then as it does today......"Games People Play!"
Conway never forgot his roots & a lot of games were played on him.....he worked hard & remained honest to get where he did. I think this song had special meaning to him. He never sang a song where he didn't give it feeling!
@kevwixs No, but Joe South wrote the song. Joe South also wrote "Rose Garden", "Hush" etc. He also played his treble-y guitar on some classic recordings by Aretha Franklin, Simon & Gartfunkel, Bob Dylan, Solomon Burke, Fats Domino and Wilson Picket.
limosine liberals....ted kennedy, hillary clinton, phil donahue, etc....me: I'm a radical..dont need no limo, but like my '69 rambler all the same...grew up on pine st. waterbury ct. 1968....every color of flesh, every dogma....screw the fake liberals..hillary lives in chapaqua , n.y. doubt she spends any time in portchester! or peekskill!!!!
i don't know who peggy sue is but you"re mistaken, this is a joe south song that he did in 1969 which made it to # 2 in the charts, only joe does this song with any justice in my opinion
This is a cool song.....I'm a huge Conway fan, and I've never heard this song before...It's got a catchy tune to it......I really like this song!! And I really hate today's country music - it sucks!

@schusterlehrling Hey he liked the song so he put it on his album for Conway fans to enjoy, as with most songs he covered.

I like Conway but he doesn't begin to do the justice to it that Joe South does.

Nice interpretation of the Joe South hit; vocals more polished than on the original.
