And look, I'm not calling names here. All I'm saying is people I've met on Tumblr are some of the most interesting I've known, I'd be damned if I was ashamed of it. When I signed up, I didn't think it'd be that important. But the truth is that I was a cynical uninteresting little prick before Tumblr. @21stcenturyissues No an internet service hasn't shaped my life, but the people I've talked to and read from are constantly inspiring me to do what I want to do in life. For example, how about a girl who worked at a comic book store and suddenly decided she wanted to live in Europe? She's real, and she's there now, happily. Or a writer who aspired to write his first novel? Look up "Isn't It Pretty To Think So?" by Nick Miller, it's coming soon and it's all possible because he started on Tumblr.

@21stcenturyissues That's the ignorant misconception most people make of Tumblr. That would be the same as saying YouTube is just for internet trolls. On Tumblr, I'm following talented writers, photographers, aspiring directors, homegrown & mainstream news outlets, amazing personalities, and more. I've "met" people on Tumblr that I've known for years now because of it, a few I can call very significant connections of my life. Without Tumblr, I wouldn't be the person I am/am becoming, frankly.

tumblr, at first i was very hesitant to use it, but my friends persuaded me to get one. I LOVE the user experience! it is very easy for someone to start a blog, you have so much flexibility (you can edit the html right there, which i just just blown over by, as I'm a web designer).

However for me, i mainly put large amounts of content and link to is from my other social media sources (twitter, Facebook, etc) I am starting to use tumblr more and more for just regular blogging.

Shared this on my tumblr mostly because of the irony but also because I have 83 followers on tumblr. ;) I use tumblr everyday. Mostly because I love to reshare the funny and true/relatble posts/pictures/GIFS (<3)/quotes. I'm really trying to work on posting "original" content (eg. "journals"). Also it'd be a lot easier to post ORIGINAL content if I actually had an OUNCE of computer graphics skill in me. My extent is taking screenshots and pasting in Paint.

I'm not sure the Tumblr demographic is the one businesses are looking to appeal to, unless they're selling purple tights and pretentious books on media development. What with us all being self obsessed emo-hipsters.

Don't get me wrong, it has the technical capabiliity to provide a solution to the problem, but being one of the aforementioned self obsessed emo-hipsters, business and advertising typically aren't the things I'm on there for. I'm mainly on there for black and white shots of benches.

I am using Tumblr because I didn't want to take the time to learn/setup WordPress (yes, I know it's easy, but it takes time) just to set up a website that nobody would likely ever see. I have 2 Tumblr pages, a personal, and a tech related. I think like 20 people read each. Not a problem, it was free and fast and is an easy way to vent and express myself.

tumblr is primarily an image sharing system. The ratio of image content to anything else is huge whereas Wordpress and other similar CMS' tend to be more focussed on text and articles.

I wouldn't go to Tumblr anymore. There is now a 250 reblog limit per day. So for the more creative and hardcore bloggers, you basically can only stay on it for an hour. Tumblr is no longer worth it, because David Karp is a moron who keeps ruining the website. Its a pity, I love Tumblr but if there is going to be a blogging limit on a blogging site......I can't even.
