Cung is a Master at San Shou Wtch is kick boxing and throws Cung has excelent takedown Defense. Add that in with his body Kicks Frank figure it wasnt worth trying to take Cung Down. Plus frank doesnt have the best take downs.

frank did try to take him down but didnt succed twice, and by the third round cung had already broke his arm... thats the problem with cung, you can block his kicks but they are so fast and powerful they will brake your arm and still carry on to the head with knock out power.... this is what we like to see in MMA great fighters,,, Bruce lee will always be king, buut cung is right up there behind him

Shamrock IS a great wrestler, but the key to even getting a ground game is to know how to take the opponent down. Do you honestly think that Le relies completely on Sanshou?

Shamrock got into position to shoot multiple times, but the fact that Le would guard it left him open for Frank's punches, because Frank is sneaky. He used it as a standoff advantage, which would've worked if his right arm didn't give out from that crack in the first round. Frank actually made Le play HIS game.

the bottom line of this fight frank kept a promise to the fans that he would not take it to the ground had he done so cung li would have a nice looking face and frank would not have a broken arm plus it would be a very boring fight, he did for the fans and a little bit of public intrest he knows what he is doing for the sport. unfortantly that arm paid the price. franks confindence got to him he needs to keep what has always carried him through submission good luck frank hope to see you back!

I disagreed with you that Cung Le is cocky. If you watch the vid of his training with Goldberg, he said that he would not going to the ground with Frank, and that if he had a takedown, he would back away. If anyone is cocky, I think it is Shamrock with all his trash talking about how he going to beat Cung at his own game. Still, I gotta give Frank credit for his toughness, he hung in there with a broken arm all the way 'til the end of 3rd round. At any rate, this is one of the best fight ever.

I think Frank showed in this fight that hes fighter for the fans first and foremost. I think most of us will agree that if he looked to take it to the ground more than it would be a no brainer, however he chose to stand with cung to make it an entertaining fight. Wrong, Frank was in terrible condition at the end of the round.  He could not manage to walk back to his stool. If Cung had had just one more second, Frank would have been dead.

I don't think so. His arm was broken and i think he was in shock and in extreme pain. His conditioning is really good actually. But I do see what you mean and I think it was the pain he was in that made it look like he was gassed. He knelt down at the end because of his arm if you noticed.
