@100fakeman that's me actually. playing rolls on Tam tam and rhythms on bongos. I used plastic brushes because I found I could get more smack out of the bongos.
@100fakeman the one thing I would change about my percussion education is that I knew more about this kind of thing earlier on in my life. I didn't know anything about real percussion rep until I was 17 or 18. Get started now. Get a teacher, and PRACTICE.
@dbaerg the thing is, I practice a lot, i go to a fine arts school so i get a pretty good band experience, an older brother who mastered percussion, but no teacher. it kills me how the last teacher in town left to go be a doctor in North Dakota randomly. but I have a lot of time. i also get a bunch of experience since there is somehow only two percussionists in my concert band. I pretty much get to play whatever I want
