@narutojose2 twice as fast yes. twice as accurate, highly doubtful. how do you know? have you ever seen an indian shoot a bow? if they shot so fast and accurate, why did they die?
@jayball2003 because it takes way longer to train a good archer then to teach some to shoot a gun. It was just a matter of time before the archers/indians got overruled.
Yep I shoot both too though I shoot my recurve much more because I like the extra challenge... With practice both are equally as deadly and accurate, but that's the key... Practice...
what all you trad guys dont understand is that people that shoot compounds good can also shoot trad bows good. Its 2011, stop pretending your a fucking native american from the 1800s and shoot a modern bow. I can hit beer cans at 80 yards with a compound and its challenging as hell. But i can also hit a beer can at 40 with a trad bow. Its more challenging than you think. I will agree with you that this guy doesnt have the tallent he thinks he does. I break arrows and nocks at that distance.
@G5bowhunter if you can smoke a "beer" can at 40 yards with a trad bow ....post that shit I would love to see it. I shoot both. There is a huge difference between the two! One has sites and Doesnt have anything but a bow and arrow. So dont tell me all bow shooters can shoot both..
@kevarchery i shoot both too. and yes with enough practice anyone can shoot both styles fairly well. I shoot an hour every day. Its part of my schedule. Its like mandatory practice time so dont tell me that i cant do it because i guarantee i can outshoot you with both styles
@G5bowhunter Hahah..!! not many around my area can.. Video plazzzzz! what do you to you shoot longbow or recurve... and who makes them ! Have you killed with the recurve.. You came off like a real asshole on that post...Like Using the words "Fucking native Americans" Is should be a sport that you have fun with.. And not hear the all the thumbs down ppl like you ... Don't be a hater. Just enjoy the video or move on !
I use both recurve and compound and yes enough stuff one a compound and anyone can be good i am left handed and have let right handed friends shoot my copound and did very well didnt near as good results with thr recurve
So shooting with a compound is not challenging? Hmmmmm sounds like someone has NEVER tried hunting or been in a tournament with a compound bow to me.....
and otherway, why are People say that Compound is no bow?
its just a other Type of bow! I shoot both, Recurve and Compound and in the Future a Longbow and all of these Bows shoots Different! why just fokus on one when you can shoot all of these?
@StuntmenProductionz i was going to get that bow because it was like half the price this year. didnt get it because cabela's didn't have it in, and i didnt want to order it
Get rid of the training wheels and get a real bow. Traditional equipment is archery, this is not. it is really neat that you can shoot so well with sights and with let off.
i preffer to always fire my compound bow (70lb) with my fingers. it lets me feel the bow better and helps it become more stable and when im shooting targets i usually like it without my sights attatched, when they are i can get that close of grouping from that range its not as challenging. to me it just feels like its actually marksmanship, which is what archery is mainly about.
i bought a mattews dxt almost two years ago and now i am 13. the bow is amazing and i would not trade it for anyother bow. this past year i was at a bow festival and i hit a deer target from 55yds range finded exact. mattews are extremely smooth and are a very good bow. i spent $1200(not compotition just for hunting) but you can pick up a cheaper mission made by mattews for like $379 or a mattews mustang if they still make it. but i would go with a mattews they will last you a life time
could someone tell me like the best brand for bow is ive been hunting deer in gun season and i want to start bow hunting but idk what brands good and whats not but i dont want anything real pricey..can i have some idea's that would help alot.
a pse or a mathews are about 400-800$....i would get a browning or a parker bow...if u r a kid then i would get the parker sidekick xp(look it up) with a whisker biscuit(look it up) it`s about 250$ for the bow...and it is great..u start with limbs that are 30-40 lbs. and u can pay 50$ to get new limbs that are 40-50 lb....and u can adjust your draw length..If u get a bow ..the two things you will want for sure are a stabilizer, and a quiver that attaches to ur bow...and some string silencers!
im 13 and ive had that bow for a year...i have my bow on 50 lb. draw...dropped a seven point on the spot from 7 yards with it(my first deer),i kinda wish i could raise the draw weight 5 more pounds..but that would not help a whole lot...make sure u get a loop on ur bow and a release....also don`t buy expandables...with a low poundage bow ,u will want a fixed broad head...i use thunderheads, and when i loose them all,i go to walmart and buy some cheap broad heads for 10$..lol
i do better shoting then that with a pse stinger at 40 yards, grouped 12 arrows about the size of a half dollar, arrows into arrows shaft, not a robing hood but straignt into the shaft.
thats good but ummm yea i well me and my team won first is nationals in kuntcky and well to me im not impress but still good and not to say ur not the master
huh just by looking at the area and i'm saying this not knowing the yds/feet it looks like i can shoot farther than that..and hell i use a longbow and i shoot blind(not knowing where the arrow hits...i know good way to ruin an arrow)
I prefer compound bows. Give to me technology end i gonna use. Same with the guns. If you are shooter you gonna use top of the line optic or you gonna use iron? More challange it's iron but I don't care about that. I just wonna have good time. I own BowTech 82 AirBorn 70 lbs end I'm very happy. I know it's "over kill" but this way i like it. :-P
@jayball2003 How can you compare 2 WAAAAAYYY different things with each other? Besides my comment is over 2 years old. You should get over yourself. When i hear the word bow i think of a stick with a string attached not a fiberglass frame with 3 strings, cams, electronic sights, stabilizers etc. Im not saying and dont like all these things but for christ sake realize what the word bow once represented.
@knalert Jesus, why are most people that use Recurve bows such uppity faggots? For the record, I use a recurve bow and I own 2 Bear compound bows. Just because one of you morons uses a different type of bow doesn't mean that you're better than anyone else. It means that you have a different opinion. That's it. You need to get over your piece of shit self, and open your mind. Stop being an asshole just because other people dont like doing the same thing as you.
yea, but how many recurve shooters are in your compound class? no matter what you shoot, you have all the same advantages as everybody else. its a personal preference on what you want to shoot.
Yes, a compound bow is easier to pull back the string, but, it also holds it in place. Whereas, with traditional archery you are constanly holding the draw weight. Which effectively affects your accuracy, as it is harder to centre your shots with a traditional bow.
There's a lot of comments here about compounds being better or more consistent or more ethical (more ethical than what?) but when it comes down to it its all about the archer. Recurves are no worse or better than compounds. They are just different. I've seen recurve shooters that would put most compound archers to shame and vice versa. If you cant hit a cows arse with a frying pan then you wont hit it with any bow recurve or compound!!!
I disagree. It is the basis of performance in which the compound bow beats the recurve. Given the same archer and the same amount of training a compound bowman will be able to land arrows in a closer group near the target than an archer using the recurve.
Thence, it using a recurve takes requires more skill.
FINE if you want to go to marksman competition with a smooth bore hand cannon against a .22 250 Go right ahead. Just don't get your panties in wad when the rest of us join the 21st century. PS you recurve is LOUD and slow. have a nice day.
yall are assholes o well he's a man who likes archery who gives a fuck if he's not any good (besides anyone can put whatever they want on youtube if you do dont watch this video there's a million others on youtube) and besides i dont see how he sucks
what a damn joke, seriously and what was that 15 yards? those switchbacks are smooth but slow and those arrows were hitting that target immediatly. My apex would blow though that shity foam. And if your the master why are you shooting at something the side of a polebarn? this thing needs a new title like,
i wanna ask a question, which one of you guys could help me out with, which would you preffer a Mathews Drenalin or a PSE Xforce, i dont know which one to get, and why would you choose that bow
The main problem people have is that with compounds you arnt holding the draw weight the cams do that for you... most compound shooters also use mech releases and sights... a recurve\longbow shooter holds the draw weight, aims without the help of sights and uses his fingers to release its much more complicated body wise because you have to know what your doing...holding the string at anchor, keeping the bow steady, aiming properly, releasing the string properly. its takes alot of skill to be acc.
kind of but kind of not. the first shot is the one to let you know where to aim the rest of your arrows but all the shots are still instinctive because theres no sight telling u where to aim. i dont know that much about instinctive shooting; i gap shoot so yeah
sum master i can do dat use a more primitve bow with 2days technology any1 can do dat but with a long bow dats how u now ur a pro cuse it doesnt have a scope to c derecly were ur shooting sum pro u are
your DEFINATELY not a archery master, ive been shooting for like 3 months, i shoot a compound set to 28 inches 44pound, i shoot fingers, and with my first arrow from 35 yards which is what that looks like, id be slapping up against every arrow, my groups are so close ive robin hooded 4 in one day, just to prove to my mate i can, u shooting a release aid, and what looks to be a scope and ur shooting what looks like a bowtech, u should be shooting groups of about 8 arrows in like 3 inches...
my bow is a take down bow and i pull 30 pounder and my total for the championship for the whole city i got 560/300 and my avarage is 25-30 thats pretty good for a kid and i don't consider my self as master please don;t call yourself a master when you don;t have a set or a properly form bow
i shoot a recurve its pretty easy once you get hang of it;s my first year and i was competting for regional city and whole area and did good for a first timer and also recurve is much easier then a compound the way you shoot has no recoil you just shoot and the bow don;t go forward well anyways you don't have everything i kno it cost alot if you have a set with stablier sight and proper release then you can call your self a master im not a master bow im only 15 i still got 3 more years
PSC are an OK brand, they are certainly not the best, but i don't recomend buying archery stuff from a pawn shop, faulty limbs and cambs can cause serious injury.
That's cool... Thanks for the comment! Maybe you can post a video of you getting a robinhood or breaking a nock... But to catch a robinhood on tape is pretty hard to do...
I felt the same. With such a bold statement as "amazing archery talent PERIOD" I was expecting you to not need the crutch of sights, letoff, release aids, stabilizers etc etc etc.
Here's the comment I was referring to of yours... I thought you were talking about how you should be humble? What about it being a gentelmen's sport as well Caster? Don't insult another man for his equipment...
Thanks Twiggy... To shoot any archery takes tallent... I hate how on youtube all everybody does is downplay everybody else... instead of just complimenting on the ability they attack the person... Kinda childish... but thanks for the comments!
If you don't want to be bashed you shouldn't be so bold and full of it. I think that's what is childish. It just demonstrates your insecurity. I never said I was a better shooter. The point is I am modest about my shooting, and I am rightfully troubled when others are not. Archery has too much history and soul to be made into a sport of arrogance and self proclaimed glory like other more mainstream sports are.
Caster, it's a video of my dad man... what do you want me to say... here's my dad.. he's a mediocre talent at best... actually he's not that great... And I'm not insecure about anything... I just think that we need to give credit to where it is due.. if you had a video of you shooting I wouldn't come along and say.. man you're not great at all... So I don't believe I am insecure and I do believe that my father has amazing tallent...
Ok, no. You obviously shouldn't title the video that way. Perhaps you should let the shooting speak for itself. Do you not think the shooting is good enough to speak for itself? Thats the insecurity i'm talking about.
wow! an amazing group. now lets see you do that at a reasonable distance, like 60 yards and not 25 or so! then you can say you have talent but not amazing by a long way!!....
It's called a back tension release, it's helps save your fingers and gives you a steadier shot. He has it locked in place and when he draws back he unlocks it to allow his back muscles to fire the bow.
I once used be a great Archery Master like you..... But then i took an arrow to the knee

HaloLvl43Legit 3 years ago
kind of but kind of not. the first shot is the one to let you know where to aim the rest of your arrows but all the shots are still instinctive because theres no sight telling u where to aim. i dont know that much about instinctive shooting; i gap shoot so yeah
nra4ever4321 3 years ago
he's crap
JukaKorea 3 years ago
you call your self a master that wasnt even that great and you were using a sight. do that again but shoot instinctivly then u might be pretty good
nra4ever4321 3 years ago
do u see the top archers using a sight? yes. if you do target archery then probably best to use a sight.

archery master? dude, you are using a compound..
stefanr00 3 years ago
your DEFINATELY not a archery master, ive been shooting for like 3 months, i shoot a compound set to 28 inches 44pound, i shoot fingers, and with my first arrow from 35 yards which is what that looks like, id be slapping up against every arrow, my groups are so close ive robin hooded 4 in one day, just to prove to my mate i can, u shooting a release aid, and what looks to be a scope and ur shooting what looks like a bowtech, u should be shooting groups of about 8 arrows in like 3 inches...
saltyplum69er 3 years ago
like totally like yeah
leulkiese 3 years ago
That is a decent group, but not a master group. That is a common group for us shooting 50-60yds.
bullcanyon 3 years ago
OMG THAT GROUPING IS SICK!
im good but u rly r a master
holy crap ^^
Bakurarocks 3 years ago
do u shoot a bowtech? i shoot a martin cheetah.
skypres 3 years ago
No. My dad shoots Matthews. Martin is a good brand, but my dad's always shot Matthews or Hoyt.

my bow is a take down bow and i pull 30 pounder and my total for the championship for the whole city i got 560/300 and my avarage is 25-30 thats pretty good for a kid and i don't consider my self as master please don;t call yourself a master when you don;t have a set or a properly form bow
halfslip21 3 years ago 3
Well half... my dad will see you at the world championship in New York later this summer...
canslerca 3 years ago
Shooting any bow takes skill. Just in various levels.. But yes.. someone who can shoot a recruve does take alot of skill.
canslerca 3 years ago
i shoot a recurve its pretty easy once you get hang of it;s my first year and i was competting for regional city and whole area and did good for a first timer and also recurve is much easier then a compound the way you shoot has no recoil you just shoot and the bow don;t go forward well anyways you don't have everything i kno it cost alot if you have a set with stablier sight and proper release then you can call your self a master im not a master bow im only 15 i still got 3 more years
halfslip21 3 years ago
i shoot a recurve
im 13 and its 30 pounds at 28 inches
i rly like the recurve bcuz it works for me
im SO not a master but i still love archery and im gonna practice until i do become a master and then im gona enter really big tournaments
i cant wait im gonna work so hard at this
i go to trader jan's pro shop and i have a teacher there who's rly nice and so is everyone else there.
the bos-lady,was one of the best archers in new england before her bow exploded and messes up her hand

i must ask i boughty a bow at a pawn shop is a
p.s.c a good bow it is 60 lbs drawback
came with stabalizer etc.
is a psc thunderbolt good?
rengoku8 3 years ago
PSC are an OK brand, they are certainly not the best, but i don't recomend buying archery stuff from a pawn shop, faulty limbs and cambs can cause serious injury.
kurtlewisman 3 years ago
ITS NOT PSC ITS PSE

No... WE don't own the woods... it just surrounds our house.
canslerca 4 years ago
That's cool... Thanks for the comment! Maybe you can post a video of you getting a robinhood or breaking a nock... But to catch a robinhood on tape is pretty hard to do...

compound noob
i have a recurve but i want a compount :p
bongalek00 4 years ago
So... you wanna be a noob too?
canslerca 4 years ago
sweet shooting dude i prefer a compound i only have a bear 25lb spirit
jackassking91 4 years ago
Lost respect for you before you fired a shot as you are using a compound bow... Booo Hisss
foxtrck2 4 years ago
I felt the same. With such a bold statement as "amazing archery talent PERIOD" I was expecting you to not need the crutch of sights, letoff, release aids, stabilizers etc etc etc.
Master the longbow and earn my respect.
CasterTown 4 years ago
Then post a video of you shooting a recurve... earn my respect...
canslerca 4 years ago
Here's the comment I was referring to of yours... I thought you were talking about how you should be humble? What about it being a gentelmen's sport as well Caster? Don't insult another man for his equipment...
canslerca 4 years ago
hey i shoot longbow recurve and a compound and they are all equally difficult in there own respects
thetwiggy10 4 years ago
Thanks Twiggy... To shoot any archery takes tallent... I hate how on youtube all everybody does is downplay everybody else... instead of just complimenting on the ability they attack the person... Kinda childish... but thanks for the comments!
canslerca 4 years ago
If you don't want to be bashed you shouldn't be so bold and full of it. I think that's what is childish. It just demonstrates your insecurity. I never said I was a better shooter. The point is I am modest about my shooting, and I am rightfully troubled when others are not. Archery has too much history and soul to be made into a sport of arrogance and self proclaimed glory like other more mainstream sports are.
CasterTown 4 years ago
Caster, it's a video of my dad man... what do you want me to say... here's my dad.. he's a mediocre talent at best... actually he's not that great... And I'm not insecure about anything... I just think that we need to give credit to where it is due.. if you had a video of you shooting I wouldn't come along and say.. man you're not great at all... So I don't believe I am insecure and I do believe that my father has amazing tallent...
canslerca 4 years ago
Ok, no. You obviously shouldn't title the video that way. Perhaps you should let the shooting speak for itself. Do you not think the shooting is good enough to speak for itself? Thats the insecurity i'm talking about.
CasterTown 4 years ago
haha wtf?
timothyp2009 4 years ago
Where can i get a bow like that?
Dynamotix 4 years ago
It's a Matthews.. Just do some seraching either online or go to a local bowshop.. most carry them...
canslerca 4 years ago
hahah... what? No...
canslerca 4 years ago
Nice shooting. I prefer the old-fashioned longbow however.
BennoTheDutch 4 years ago
Yea... my dad has shot with one before and it takes alot of tallent to shoot a longbow... I give props to anyone who can...
canslerca 4 years ago
Cool bow

casamcrem2 4 years ago
wow! an amazing group. now lets see you do that at a reasonable distance, like 60 yards and not 25 or so! then you can say you have talent but not amazing by a long way!!....
roythearcher 4 years ago
How good of a group can you shoot at 60 yards?
canslerca 4 years ago
all in the red and gold with a recurve (and no magnifying scopes or release aids)
roythearcher 4 years ago
what is in his right hand? is he using something to draw back to strings to protect his fingers?
inmyglassprison 4 years ago
It's called a back tension release, it's helps save your fingers and gives you a steadier shot. He has it locked in place and when he draws back he unlocks it to allow his back muscles to fire the bow.
canslerca 4 years ago
wow, thats really cool. I remember when i used to do archery, after awhile, my fingers were just raw.
