What were the writers trying to get across when they wrote this scene? Can someone tell me? It's funny but its like talking about your sex life with your new girlfriends parents. Why bring it up?
Tony Plana as Jefe is still one of my top three favorites since I was a 15 y.o. kid. Now I am 39,..and no one has done a more convincing job as a Bandito than my man here.
Ha! never noticed the "Significance" of 0:10. Omg! i was about 28 or so when this movie was made. have seen it, many many times. so, watching this clip right now, and love the character 'jefe' here, playing the subservient role to "El Guapo". Lol!
but..........anyone notice the ever-so-Freudian' symbolism the Directors slipped in, @ 0:10. Lol! perfect! the Omnipotent "El Guapo's huge........Phalis, depicted by a Cactus perfectly Juxtaposed. Ha-ha!! LMAO!! Brilliant Plug.
@drumdude46 I have no idea what your ranting about. I think your reading wayyyy too much into my comment. Homophobic??? Gay joke? Backhanded insult? Wha...? Wow.... I was referring to the giant cactus in the background b/c that's what I thought you were talking about and that's what I thought @Xoloitzcuintli3 was also referring to. BTW, I'm almost 30.
@JQOAL Ok. I'll bite. at the risk you've duped me 'twice'. Lol! truth then? have another look at your "phrasing' in the WAY you wrote, "What....you wrote. do you see it? YOU: "Wow. ummm......just.....Wow" sorry but that sounded smarmy, so, i read that as, you were drawing attention to the fact that, "I'd noticed a big Cock Symbol'. like that means, I'm DRAWN to noticing things like that. Ok. fair enough. my apologies then. must have completely mis-read your response. be well.
One of the funniest dumbest silliest funniest dumbest funniest funniest dumbest funniest dumbest funniest funniest funniest movies ever. "Would you like to kiss ME?" "uh....Yeah...uh...ya mean...NOW????"
Favorite scene in this entire movie! "If you want the cattle, you just take the cattle. If you want food, you just take the food. If you want a woman, just take the woman.. Why don't just take her?" LOFL!!!! hahaha I die laughing every time!
el guapo is alfonso arau legendary mexican actor and director, and el jefe is tony plana who also did a good role in born in east L.A with cheech marin, tony was the guy with the bible tormenting cheech in the mexican prison.
@jesamani75 : Funny thing, my wife and I have been together for 7 years, we saw The Three Amigos last year for the first time on DVD (being one of my fav movies of all time), she always knew who Alfonso Arau was from watching all those soap operas from Mexico in her country, but she had no idea he had ever appeared in U.S. film, so it was cool to find out this guy wasn't the not-so-famous actor I took him for and to know he's huge in Mexico.
@TheAnthropologyst No way, are you sure, I thought I had seen him in some Novelas before, but not really a fan just glancing at what others were seeing in their living rooms.
Let us not forget Vacation my favorite funny movie. This one is just too hillarious. I love it. Mexican style and all. Dont see movies like this anymore.

"El guapo" is the great Alfonso Arau, one of the best movie maker in Latin America. He's the one who did "Como Agua Para Chocolate" and "A Walk in the Clouds".
I prefer to call any woman by their name...not "race". Only reason to consider race is if you are going to or not wanting to use a racial remark. Or a particular holiday.
LOLOLOLLOLOLLLOLLOLOLOL they sound like mexicans on the carls bads side of california but YEAAA mexicans are fucking amazing LOLOL well back then...now they wanna be blacks =(
not true! i am the whitest motherfucker on earth and this is my favorite movie! what exactly is a chicano?my mexican wife jokes that shes spanish, and my buddies at work claim "latino".what gives?why the colorfull names(pun intended)? im just white,i guess. is being mexican THAT bad?
Chicano for the Mexican origin ones is the equivalent of nigger for the Afros.
Your wife is a Latina (either of initial Spanish or Portuguese or even of Italian ancestry and immediately originating from some country of either Central or South America) 1st of all, and THEN as a sub-genre she's -probably- descending from the Spaniards. In any case, both terms "Spanish" or "Latina" do apply

That said, this movie is hilarious. Kind of an underestimated gem.
Nah, dude, funny is funny forever! If one has to explicate to justify humor then it goes without saying that it's just not funny- not yesterday, not today and not tomorrow! The same things I find humorous in the Bible, Dostoevski, Bukowski, to even a Cheech-and-Chong album is the same things I find funny in all those aforementioned movies! If you watch todays movies- be they comedy, drama, horror (wow), action, or whatever- and don't cringe at everthing from the bad acting, to the bad editing

@D3TOX3R : I concur, the best movies came out during my childhood, 1983-1993 and some here and there before and after that period. I am afraid to go to the movies now-a-days, I feel that I have to bring my own AED device in case I go into cardiac arrest from what I see and hear, sorry but I just don't enjoy or think it's really creative to watch a dude cut off a body part while he's awake in order to get to the plot of the movie, I'd rather stay home and watch The Goonies, LoL
@D3TOX3R Indeed. Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, Joe Versus The Volcano, The Burbs, Ghostbusters, Great Outdoors, Fletch, Fletch LIves, Airplane, and of course, Caddyshack. The 80's and even the early 90's knew what was up with comedy. It's too rare to see something this good these days.
man when i was a child like 6-7 yo i watched this video like 2 times every day hahahaha now im seeing it again and ive got to say, this movie is awesome, fucking genious, GREAT acting.
its not a spanish word its an inglish word but used for high vocabulary it means much/many....like cacaphonous (sound funny) but it means bad ....this are some high vocabulary words and i am 15 and i am not a nerd
''Plethora'' is not really an English word as it does not derive from Old English (which is derived from Proto-Germanic itself), it is however a loanword borrowed from the Latin ''plethora'', which was a loanword variant of the Greek ''plethore'', It simple means really means ''body fluid excess'', however, it is now used to mean ''overfullness''.
Love this part man. LOL. I know that I do not have your superior intellect.. and where el jefe say.." could it be that once again"....love the way he drags his words.and were el guapo says...."or i will kill her"!LOL.

Or it's not a Spanish word. It's English. Derived from Greek.

''Plethora'' is not really an English word as it does not derive from Old English (which is derived from Proto-Germanic itself), it is however a loanword borrowed from the Latin ''plethora'', which was a loanword variant of the Greek ''plethore'', It simple means really means ''body fluid excess'', however, it is now used to mean ''overfullness''.

plethora means abundance of something, in this case, abundance of piñatas :)
