correct me if im wrong but steelhead are only steelhead if they go out to the ocean. do you guys have rivers that go out to the ocean? i guess you do judging by the end of the video... nice vid.
its Michigan silly! the great lakes! they connect to the Mississippi river which goes to the ocean, and also by thest lawrance seaway. But anyway are fish dont go to the ocean they live in our lakes, plenty of room.
well i guess if your fish dont go to the ocean then u dont have steelhead.... our trout head out to the ocean and come back as steelhead or searun cutthroat trout. and you catch them so fresh out of the ocean that they have sea lice on them....
why do some westcoast people snipersberg dont understand greatlake steelhead are fish planted from steelhead eggs from the westcoast same with the coho salmon and king salmon so if they stay in freash are they not king or coho anymore some people make us look bad on the west coast sorry for the slow people
@aksealice we take it as an insult what makes a steel head is the fact that is been to the ocean/saltwater and is wild/native to the river there is a huge difference in the fight nothing compares to a sea run fish as far as fight and size. if you guys didn't compare them as equal we wouldn't bee insulted.you have a great fishery don't get me wrong but a true salmonoide comes from the sea not a lake.
@bocephus3006 did i say they fight more no.. dont think so im from alaska i know what ocean run is ihave fish bc idaho to the greatlakes sorry to insult you but you cant change a egg if you put a robin egg in a duck marsh its still a robin not a duck yes they fight like planters compared to ocean wild but if you have a chinook egg or coho egg or a steelhead egg and you hatch them in your bath tub you will have a king or a silver or a steelhead in your tub......
@aksealice wrong. the definition of a steel head is a rainbow trout that migrates to saltwater.i wasn't trying to argue with you i was just answering your question.
@aksealice each river with wild steelhead there genetic trait is different in each individual river system.i understand what your saying and i will agree to a certain extent you are right but when it comes to native steelhead each individual river has its own uniqe genetic make up.there genetic make up is different in every river system it is native to there particuler river and run winter summer fall same river different genetics between the runs.i dont think we should mess that up.
