@TruthSurge It's called a Promo performance and it was very important for it to feature the product for sale, which was the recording of the song. It was used to promote the latest single on TV shows. Every band did them as it would be specified in the contract. The Sex Pistols, Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, U2 and Green Day has all done lip sync'ed promo performances.
The screen says this is from "Laugh Trax" in 1982. Wasn't that a syndicated comedy TV show? I recall watching the show back then on Friday nights on a local independent TV station. I really enjoyed it. Was quite funny at times. They had a regular character named "Billy Rock", who was a satire on Billy Graham...even spoke with the same accent. One of the regulars was Howie Mandel...but he doesn't even mention the show in his new autobiography. THANKS for posting this! :)
God, I wish I had been able to see them in San Antonio last Friday. This band is one of my all time favorites. I LOVE THIS SONG! Hopefully they will make it to Austin soon.
I love that suit!! I asked my mom if I could go to see them,( I was 15) and I showed her a picture with Robin in one of his suits. She said yes. I asked her 2 years later if I could go to Van Halen, a picture of David Lee Roth chained to a fence barechested. She said no. Ooooh, if she only knew how much more raunchy Cheap Trick's music was compared to Van Halen's I'd have never been allowed to see them! LOL
my mom used to get mad at me 4 listening to this song... maybe it was because i was 3... well anyway 10 years later i still listen to this song even if im not supposed to.. i love u robin!
I remember the exact night this was on tv back in 1982. I was wearing my pink jammies with blue sheep on them. I did the hula hoop for 2 hours afterwards.
At Rye Playland Rick had a bunch of his family in the audience. He introduced everyone to the crowd, then said, "now we're gonna do this nice family oriented song...." I was laughing my ass off!
Coolest damn wedding band ever. I've they came to my town every year I'd see 'em

I've never liked this song but I love this album. Cool to see a "live" performance from that time.
