The moment when she fall was just like a knife stabbed through my heart. However, I'm really glad that she pulled herself back to the podium with another triple axel at the long program. I love her so so so so much. She made the current era's skaters so boring and lousy.
This was heartbreaking and very difficult to watch then and today. You can clearly see Ito from the moment they announced her name (speaking to coaches) to the point where she was setting up for the triple lutz, that she was thinking so much and was so concerned about many things.
Love this program. Ito really has some terrific choreographers from 1991-1992. She seemed to lose a great deal of her artistry when she turned pro though. It obviously wasn't as natural for her. That said, I'd take this program stylistically over Yamaguchi's in a heartbeat.
Fantastic choreography. She had wonderful flow and of course speed which lend to very exciting and watchable viewing. She was never boring. I actually find it hard to believe she was only World Champ once - too bad figures held her back. Great Champion.
i just checked her out because on ice princess at the end, it says i haven't seen anyone come back from midterm disaster since midori ito in the 92 olympics or something around those lines. shes good
It was such a shock to see her fall here given her consistency, but I must say that for a skater to make a major error in the OP and then take silver - only a phenomenal athlete can do that and Midori is phenomenal. It wasn't her best year but I was certain I'd see either her or my other favorite (Yamaguchi) take the gold.
Ito's jumps and spins were amazing...but to call her a great artistic skater is blasphemy.

@TheSienna29 You can say that again. speed? Yes. Power? you bet? Ice coverage? Wonderful! But Artistry? Not much.

Ito's spins were great. They didn' t "travel" at all.

@AmusedChild yea, and it's so amazing to see her so brave to put in another attempt of triple axel in the long program. Her coach must've shocked.
