I find it amazing that people actually believe he is using psychology. These are TRICKS. My friend and I saw this being filmed several years ago and he was speaking to both the girl and the guy for a long time before the cameras rolled. It's possible he used hypnosis before they filmed, but I know that he does use stooges. Watch the effect where he gets a woman to say "stop" and a woman outside on the street does stop dead. She is a production assistant on the show. I met her.

I reckon its something that derren has set up in the distance that the girl is facing. Notice he has the man face that direction when he's blocking his ears, and the both the man and girl selected were both from the side of the crowd that that were facing that way. Something he had out there, combined wih relevant suggestions that he may have used, I think out John Ward into their heads.

The man didn't really think of the name John Ward, Derren Brown as he keeps speaking slips in subliminal messages which they obviously both hear. He thinks he's thought of the name when really it's been subtly suggested to him; she thinks she's read the name when really it has been suggested to her in the same way. xXx

nice xplainment.. prob is: brown asks for a FRIEND of his. so somebody he knows.. the percantage of brown knowing the full name of a concrete person the requested 1 knows r almost 0. he confirms @ the end again that he knows this person. so other xplanation?

Well I don't know exactly how he does it otherwise I could do it too. Perhaps there are also non verbal elements. I know for certain that Derren Brown is a master of the subliminal and that he uses that technique a lot. Watch the Simon Pegg video and he even convinces him that he wanted something he didn't. I'm sure Derren Brown could even make this man believe John Ward was a friend of his. I truly do believe this is the method, he uses it a lot and I really can't see any other way. xXx

I think, that Derren already reads the subliminal movements of Anthonys face and already knows the name. When Anthony puts his fingers in his ears, he turns to the woman and strongly suggests (also subliminally), what the name is.
