I'm sure GM WANTED to do an '83 Corvette, as this would have been the 50th anniversary.

FROM WIKIPEDIA:  The fourth generation Corvette was the first all-new Corvette since 1963. Production was to begin for the 1983 model year but quality issues and part delays resulted in only 44 1983 model prototypes being produced that were never sold. All of the 1983 prototypes were destroyed except one.

Actually there is ONE 1983 Corvette, it is in the National Corvette Museum

Great song... Fun Fact... There is actually no such thing as a 1983 Corvette! There was a delay in production, so they went straight from 1982 to 1984.

@jkunz27 Actually, there was NO delay. The '84 was a redesign and it went into production earlier than usual cars.
