This is the only game that I know that there have been two separate occasions where its main theme has been performed by an opera. This one in the japanese commercial and a latin version in SSBM. I find that odd. Awesome, but odd.
Wow there is actually an audio for this, I know little bit japanese oral and I hear some words that I know :) good to know that this isn't just jibberish
Geez, I'm really itching for a new Fire Emblem game. Nintendo better get off their asses and release a NEW Fire Emblem for the Wii and release all previously unreleased versions of FE for the DS. Today.
It seems like I have to hold back tears and laugh at the same time every time I listen to this song, it is so beautiful. I don't know what it feels like to be high, but this is the best feeling ever.
God, I'm a 16 year old that likes opera and orchestra's what the heck is wrong with me...I'll tell you, absolutely nothing, never let anyone tell you other wise because we don't listen more to the fn rap, I'll be honest, I'd rather hear this on MTV.
@firej77 Me too, I'm actually planning on going into Video Game Music Composition. I think Video Game music is amazing, and helps the feeling and emotion of the game. Music like this just is amazing.
I was there for every journey. As someone who doesnt speak japanese I struggled through roms and actually BOUGHT the snes games off ebay and removed the plastic tabs to play. I used translations to understand what was going on, striving for 100% survival rate and I even gave weaker units a chance to grow. To me its not just a game, its about putting everything on the line for your friends, family, and the ones you love. Fire Emblem is in my blood.
My god! I've finally found somebody who is as obsessed, or more with fire emblem! I am so moved by your passion my good man, and this song makes your comment all the more touching. Making sure not a single unit dies, and that they all are trained to have a chance to become heroes, is something I always aspire to do no matter the difficulty I play on. Fire emblem is just, such a wonderful game, and it warms the cockles of my heart to see somebody who likes it this much.
@wtfareyoudoing33 Amen, brotha, amen. Fire Emblem = best series EVAR.Also, if you like TRPG's, you should try Advance Wars: Days of Ruin. I couldn't really get into the other Nintendo Wars games (Famicom Wars, Advance Wars, etc.), but HAWT DANG.
Fire Emblem is one of my most favorite Nintendo series of all time. Medieval Times folklore combine with anime style characters= pure awesomeness. Back in my High school when we were studying Medieval Times in history class we played Fire Emblem Path Of Radiance I played as Ike my teacher played as Titania, and the rest of my class played as my other units and we were having fun beating the crap out of enemy units.
@WegraX Yeah, I take the opportunity to name drop Uematsu, Kondo and Sugiyama every chance I get when I'm talking about classical musicians. Those 3 in particular are every bit as good as, if not better than, John Williams, Hans Zimmer, and Danny Elfman.
To be honest I think 200 years from now Nobuo Uematsu (FF Series), Koji Kondo (Mario/Zelda), John Williams (Schindlers List/Star Wars) and Max Steiner (Casablanca/Gone With The Wind) will be known as the greatest composers of the 20th century.
@WegraX To be fair though, this particular version isn't from any Fire Emblem game, it's from the Japanese commercial. The game version doesn't have the opera singing.
Fire Emblem, our bond shall be never broken. We hold fast to protect tomorrow And the one who awaits our return. Fire Emblem, light gathers on the flag we unfurl. Fire Emblem, we gaze upon the multitude of stars, Gripping our blades. If we do not bring light to the darkness in these lands, The shooting stars will soar over a wasteland. Fire Emblem, on whom does the morning sun shine As she climbs over the edge of battle?
@ifsey Agreed. Hector's really one of the best, one of my favorites too.
But the lord I think deserves the most respect is Ephraim. That guy can fight a whole empire with a handful of soldiers. Most other lords journey to find the strength needed before doing the things he does directly.
@Shadowthedgehog1 Ephraim was using cheap hit-and-run tactics [Clever but cheap], and also laid with his sister. Hector got Lyn and take down a dragon on his own.
@ifsey He didn't only hit and run, he managed to capture one of their fortresses this way, and was the only lord to escape after being completely surrounded. Besides, he also lead a rather small army to conquer a well defended capital against most odds, filling the heroic role of FE main characters. And yeah his sister's weak, but it's no reason to say those things...
I never ended FE 7 with A support between Lyn and Hector, but did let Hector take down the dragon by himself. Kickass character.
@Man1cmanMario Never played FE gaiden, so I don't really know... =(
But I think Marth is really overrated because of his Smash Bros appearance. No promotion, low max stats and only one weapon type... At least on the DS version, never saw the original.
@Man1cmanMario True, he's not an "awesome" character, but he stays alive on the front in hard mode. Might just be luck/dedication to the random numbers generator, I once got Lyn at the end so weak that in spite of being lv. 20, she could only deal 2 damage to the dragon...
@Shadowthedgehog1 It's weird, but my Lyn was always the better one, but when it came to the end, she did 0x2 to the dragon, while the dragon did somethingx2 to Eliwood, who did 23 damage. Hector did 23x2, I believe. It was the first time I beat a Fire Emblem game, so I was VERY n00bish!!
@Man1cmanMario hehe fe7 was like the first game to be released out of japan or smething like thai think. so for alot of us its the first/best fire emblem :D. in my opinion fe7,8 and 6 are just the best games besides legend o zelda

@RenjiXIII Marth, Ike, Eliwood and Sigurd are all awesome in their own right. YEAHZ (My alias is Andy Summer, a. k. a. Captain Falcon in F-Zero: GP Legend, lolz)
The 2nd line is only half true, I can still sleep, but I play one of the Fire Emblem games before I go to sleep now, it's been a long time since I've read a book before sleeping....
I was the one who translated from Japanese to English the lyrics of this song, and posted them at Animelyrics back then. If you don't mind, that would be really nice if you could credit me in the video description. ;)
...Says the guy who probably don't understand a single word of Japanese or Latin. But ME, I do understand Japanese (and have studied a bit of Latin in my Junior High years too), and I can say confidently that this song is in Japanese (and double confirm it as I TRANSLATED it from Japanese). It was included in the Fire Emblem 6 OST, and you can see the cover of this OST in the video.
You're probably confusing this song with the Latin version present in Super Smash Bros Brawl.
This version is no latin: brawl version is in latin. If you play the brawl version you can hear perfectly the beginning in latin: "FE via sine fides facile eunt socii" " And you can feel later "umbra timita (¿?) ac sanguine acerbitas..." the rest of the lyrics is very confused. I think this version is japanese indeed.
OMG me thoo, I wish that too, That would be nice ^^, then I'd like to be a knowlledgefull sage XD, But I believe that this age would be around merlins age...king Arthur? idk...
Speaking of crying, a friend and I used to play this together, once he left I found myself crying sometimes when I heard this theme, the slower versions sometimes have a bit of a sad melody to them.
I think as time goes on, Fire Emblem is gaining more and more respect (partly because the games are being released in America finally, and partly because Super Smash Bros is generating interest) and with the decline of the Final Fantasy series in the last few installments (since 11 and on) it will be a matter of a few years before Fire Emblem overtakes Final Fantasy.
I love the first 10 Final Fantasy games, but after that... meh Fire Emblem is still get better with each installment.
@RicoLen1 Maybe, but I still hate the fact that if your characters die, they can't be saved, that, and the fact that you have to do all your shopping in-battle. :P
@epicdavid I understand what you're saying, but keep in mind that Shadow Dragon is a re-release of the very first Fire Emblem. The latest release of Fire Emblem in America, in terms of the creation of an original story is Radiant Dawn.
@RicoLen1 Meh. A lot of the first 10 FF games are overrated, especially since you're lumping them into "pre-11". 5 Was disappointing, I'm not a fan of 7 or 9 either and dependent on taste 10 tends to go either way with fans. Although 11's an MMO that doesn't diminish it's standout story quality, 12 and 13 weren't bad games either just annoying.
FE is consistent and hardly ever changes between each installment for mechanics. It's good, no denying, but it never really tries anything new.
@ToornioNoxulias I would never say Final Fantasy 1, 4, or 6 is over rated under any circumstances 3 of the best RPGs I've ever played on a console. I loved 8 and 10, had a blast with 2 and 3. Was never a major fan of 7, and was disappointed by 9. 5 was just "meh".
Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn were the best Fire Emblems yet. And every one was strong for it's time. At this point Radiant Dawn was vastly superior to FF13.
@RicoLen1 fire emblem has always been better than final fantasy. but the latest installment is awful (shadow dragon) and the next is another shadow dragon-like game. -_- i might end up not buying any new fire emblems and just stick with 1 3 5 6 7 8 9 and 10
@bookercreator Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Shadow Dragon just a re-release of the first Fire Emblem? That's kind of like saying that because Final Fantasy Origins (PS1 release of FF1 & FF2) was released after Final Fantasy 7 that the series was going downhill and that the latest release was a major step back... Not really a fair way to judge the games IMO.
@bookercreator yeah i agree with you but not with the worse graphic fighting thing, the only thing I hate to the 11th fire emblem is the re classing and the generals sucks weapon is arrow...... and one more thing the dying thing, you have to limit your soldier to accomplish the hidden chapters
@bookercreator Why not 2 or 4? I actually like 2's VASTLY different style(c'mon, you know abusing the game every now and then with quite-literally a BAJILLION clay soldiers is awesome). It maintained difficulty while letting you have EXTREMELY powerful characters if you raised them right(albeit the healers being among the most BROKEN in the series as long as someone else healed them).I'm on chapter 4 out of 5.I haven't really played 4,so I can't really vouch for that one.I have 1,2,3,4,and 6-11.
This is basically your Prologue for new Fire Emblem gamers. If you analyze the lyrics carefully, they will tell you how to play. Well, I would definitely follow the lyrics (not just by singing). The creators "did" make this so... I best suggest people follow it. I follow it and it works 100% and then some! Fire Emblem, one of the best strategy games (and the first on is Japan!).
WAY worse...but a good story line for what the game has.
imagine the defence of Daein on the Gallian's side (s the siege of daein before the dragons join in) remove the laguz, throw in a lot ore classes and HUNDREDS of soldiers, along with castles to seize and thats the idea of the game.
trust me on this, one battle can take around 50 turns, average, some around 1000
I hope they do remake FE4, I've heard such good things about it.
Though in all likelihood, they will remake Riddle of the Emblem/FE3 first, since Marth's games would make more sense to remake than Roy's since Roy was on the GBA and Marth's last appearance (not counting the recent Shadow Dragon) was on the SNES.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
i have no idea wats goin on but....
isnt one and two out for gameboy advance sp, and 3 out for gamecube? then 4 is out for wii and 5 for ds? or is it the other way around? or is it just remakes with different names and characters?....
fire emblem the only 1 i played is path of radience

But ME, I do understand Japanese (and have studied a bit of Latin in my Junior High years too), and I can say confidently that this song is in Japanese (and double confirm it as I TRANSLATED it from Japanese). It was included in the Fire Emblem 6 OST, and you can see the cover of this OST in the video.
You're probably confusing this song with the Latin version present in Super Smash Bros Brawl.
AceNoctali 1 year ago 3
This version is no latin: brawl version is in latin. If you play the brawl version you can hear perfectly the beginning in latin: "FE via sine fides facile eunt socii" " And you can feel later "umbra timita (¿?) ac sanguine acerbitas..." the rest of the lyrics is very confused. I think this version is japanese indeed.

The lyrics are so true. D:
ZERO9725 1 year ago
the lyrics are all true to the fact of fire emblem. fire emblem is now taking over final fantasy. FF1,4,5,6 are better than the other ones.

Agreed but 2 and 3 are also awesome.

@doplys because it's a beautiful sounding language and it brings an old timey feel along with it.

@TheOmnizen I assume because the warfare of the series is similar to Medieval European warfare, a time-period/place where the intelligent spoke Latin

This theme is absolutly epic and funny cause I thought the lyrics would be more ...em ... more senseful.
Okay its just from a commercial I dont know what I expected *gnhihi*

RicoLen1 2 years ago 66
@RicoLen1 Maybe, but I still hate the fact that if your characters die, they can't be saved, that, and the fact that you have to do all your shopping in-battle. :P
Xanofar 1 year ago
@RicoLen1 It got better up until shadow dragon. But shadow dragon sucked.
epicdavid 1 year ago
@epicdavid I understand what you're saying, but keep in mind that Shadow Dragon is a re-release of the very first Fire Emblem. The latest release of Fire Emblem in America, in terms of the creation of an original story is Radiant Dawn.
RicoLen1 1 year ago
@RicoLen1 Meh. A lot of the first 10 FF games are overrated, especially since you're lumping them into "pre-11". 5 Was disappointing, I'm not a fan of 7 or 9 either and dependent on taste 10 tends to go either way with fans. Although 11's an MMO that doesn't diminish it's standout story quality, 12 and 13 weren't bad games either just annoying.
FE is consistent and hardly ever changes between each installment for mechanics. It's good, no denying, but it never really tries anything new.
ToornioNoxulias 1 year ago
@ToornioNoxulias I would never say Final Fantasy 1, 4, or 6 is over rated under any circumstances 3 of the best RPGs I've ever played on a console. I loved 8 and 10, had a blast with 2 and 3. Was never a major fan of 7, and was disappointed by 9. 5 was just "meh".
Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn were the best Fire Emblems yet. And every one was strong for it's time. At this point Radiant Dawn was vastly superior to FF13.
RicoLen1 1 year ago
@RicoLen1 fire emblem has always been better than final fantasy. but the latest installment is awful (shadow dragon) and the next is another shadow dragon-like game. -_- i might end up not buying any new fire emblems and just stick with 1 3 5 6 7 8 9 and 10
bookercreator 11 months ago
@bookercreator Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Shadow Dragon just a re-release of the first Fire Emblem? That's kind of like saying that because Final Fantasy Origins (PS1 release of FF1 & FF2) was released after Final Fantasy 7 that the series was going downhill and that the latest release was a major step back... Not really a fair way to judge the games IMO.
RicoLen1 11 months ago
@RicoLen1 Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon WAS a remake but many things were changed. Not in a good way.
Reclassing
Extra Faceless Units
Changed Character Faces
New Chapters
Worse Graphics In fighting Than GBA Fire Emblem
Other Small But Bad Changes
bookercreator 11 months ago
@bookercreator yeah i agree with you but not with the worse graphic fighting thing, the only thing I hate to the 11th fire emblem is the re classing and the generals sucks weapon is arrow...... and one more thing the dying thing, you have to limit your soldier to accomplish the hidden chapters
riekotz 10 months ago
@bookercreator Why not 2 or 4? I actually like 2's VASTLY different style(c'mon, you know abusing the game every now and then with quite-literally a BAJILLION clay soldiers is awesome). It maintained difficulty while letting you have EXTREMELY powerful characters if you raised them right(albeit the healers being among the most BROKEN in the series as long as someone else healed them).I'm on chapter 4 out of 5.I haven't really played 4,so I can't really vouch for that one.I have 1,2,3,4,and 6-11.

Epic song. Fire Emblem is a great game, although it's a shame that it does not get the same respect as Final Fantasy.

*sigh* why doesn't final fantasy tactics(the origonal) have freakin' awsome opera music?

Absolutly right, this sounds like an anthem and is fuckin' awesome!!!

Sounds like a national anthem and i wouldn't mind using this instead of the one we have (the swedish national anthem is boring..).
AlbaFlavius 2 years ago
This is basically your Prologue for new Fire Emblem gamers. If you analyze the lyrics carefully, they will tell you how to play. Well, I would definitely follow the lyrics (not just by singing). The creators "did" make this so... I best suggest people follow it. I follow it and it works 100% and then some! Fire Emblem, one of the best strategy games (and the first on is Japan!).
KishinRinku 2 years ago 15
@KishinRinku Also the very first tactical strategy game that was ever made too.
RenjiXIII 11 months ago
@RenjiXIII Yes, Fire emblem is the first. It is the first in Japan and the world, and 2nd in America after Golden Sun.

What, Radiant Dawn? Or Seisen no Kifu?
soaringaegis 2 years ago
seisen no Keifu, or Genology of the holy war.
the chapters take AGES to finish and the enemy are mre numersome and a lot harder.
thebladeofchaos 2 years ago
Worse that Radiant Dawn? XD
soaringaegis 2 years ago
WAY worse...but a good story line for what the game has.
imagine the defence of Daein on the Gallian's side (s the siege of daein before the dragons join in) remove the laguz, throw in a lot ore classes and HUNDREDS of soldiers, along with castles to seize and thats the idea of the game.
trust me on this, one battle can take around 50 turns, average, some around 1000

if they're gonna do another remake, it has to be FE4.
MassiveMach 2 years ago
I hope they do remake FE4, I've heard such good things about it.
Though in all likelihood, they will remake Riddle of the Emblem/FE3 first, since Marth's games would make more sense to remake than Roy's since Roy was on the GBA and Marth's last appearance (not counting the recent Shadow Dragon) was on the SNES.
GullGet9 2 years ago 2
its really challenging, the levels are huge as well
KoDBeast 2 years ago
Shadow Dragon is a remake of both FE1 and FE3. FE4 does not have Roy in it, the lords are Sigurd and his son Selis.
JagWar1752 2 years ago
Um, I actually own SD and it ONLY contains a remake of FIre Emblem I. Fire Emblem 3 is nowhere to be found.

i have no idea wats goin on but....
isnt one and two out for gameboy advance sp, and 3 out for gamecube? then 4 is out for wii and 5 for ds? or is it the other way around? or is it just remakes with different names and characters?....
..
wowitshardtogetaname 2 years ago
...No.
The first Fire Emblem game that landed on Western shores was actually the seventh. All the ones that came after that were the 8th, 9th, and 10th.
Now, Shadow Dragon is a remake of the very first FE game.
GullGet9 2 years ago
so...fire emblem is 7th
sacred stones i believe it is..its eighth..
i forgot the one for gamecube..
wats radiant dawn then?..like..10th?
then shadow dragon is one again?
thats messed up but still i want all of them but i only have first(for "west shores") and sacred stones.. :(
