It sounds sadder than it really should. I loved doing the second soprano part as a counter-tenor. Mind you i only did it for fun. I would never perform as a counter tenor.
I performed this duet when I was in 11th grade for NYSSMA with my best friend and we got a perfect score. It was an amazing day, and that is one of my favorite duets of ALL time.
I performed this composition for 5 years (4 in high school and 1 in college). I was one of the soloist on this particular movement. It was originally written as a duet for 1st and 2nd soprano with choral support. That would actually be my biggest saddness is that you did not use soloist in your performance. But all in all for a small choir you did quite well.
in my choir we are singing a somewhat different arrangement which makes it sound a tad happier
