bought it, it's so low poly that in no way it's usable for a professional. you can't even model a low detail bust. not even a nose for it. it's a good toy to play, in the other hand.
Very cool, I especially like the .obj e-mail feature. Makes me want to buy an iPad =P. I assume it's a voxelisation method you're using, if so, can you define the width, depth, and height of the model shaping space?
No, it's just a really fine spheroid mesh, and it applies simple magnet-like operations based on surface normals and such. Not much different than sculpting tools in programs like Maya and blender. But the difference here is it's on an iPad, and there really isn't much on the iPad except this and a handful of other 3D programs. For head modelling it is adequate, especially for creating alien heads. But forget about modelling a full person with it.
I've used all sorts of apps from Maya to blender, and for speed of creation, this is better than all of those. I'm not saying the models are adequate for use for things like animation, but for getting ideas out it's much better than sitting around thinking, okay do I use subdivision surfaces, or do I start with metaballs, or do I do NURBS, or such.. That's all just substructure, it doesn't permit one to rapidly create something. BTW, you can import this into blender, add bump maps.
