Listen I am not a fan of the modern GTRs. Still I respect and admire them. They represent phenomenal engineering. The weakest points on the car that I have found is that activation of the launch control voids the warranty, and the launch control causes the transmission to fail. That a 3800lbs car with only 480bhp can get around the Nurburgring just a few seconds slower than the 3200lbs, 638bhp ZR1 is amazing. Still the GTR does too much of the drivers job, which makes the ZR1 more rewarding.
because seriously, probably you can give me a source. the fact that there was a factory veyron recorded at 1248 bhp has been burried for quite some time now but it was during beyrons preproduction time in 2002. so please tell me, where have you found a veyron topping at 1201 bhp??
Funniest thing, I cannot find it and I have been looking for it since I found it. I sence that the source I read it on was not credible. Last I heard the Grad Sport soft top version's 215mph is slower than the originals 253mph that I saw on Fast Lane Daily Aug, 18 2008. About the 1200bhp Veyron, what I heard was that Veyron set the production speed record at 253mph, the the SSC Ultimate Aero set it at 257, then Bugatti re-did the Veyron with 100 extra horses and took the record back at 261, (or some thing in the range). Now SSC is getting ready to try to snach the record back. I like a close competion like that. Just makes both cars even better.

the super luxury and performance of a veyron are phenomenal. Their point wasn't to be the fastest car but the best car and that's just what they did but it just goes to show that every car needs work. actually, we pretty much have the same idea. i was deep into this veyron, use to know every little thing about it actually and then the gtr came which is something i'm more into. I appreciate what the veyron is, but i just got into the competetive thought knowing how many people say the veyron is shit compared to the ssc. Sorry I do not know tipo. I don't think the Veyron needs anything more than a bit more horse power to get the title back. What blows my mind is that, compared to the Aero, it weighs more, offers incredible creature comforts, and is still the land born equivalent to the Concorde. I admire the Veyron it is a true high water mark for touring luxury.

Problem is SSC struggle to sell their UA cars even in their native land despite being "half price the Veryon". It seems that buyers who can afford Veyron will not buy Aero and, people who can afford Aero but not Veyon will buy Lambo, Zonda, Koenigsegg instead. Ultimate Aero looks too much like a modified Diablo replica with no class, style and refinment. SSC needs to worry about themselves than other competitors.
You could not be more right though, they are two different machines with two different design thesis' behind them. If you don't mind me getting more specific than you. The Veyron is the penultimate grand tourer, whereas the Aero is the ultimate performance car. SSC is not a tuner. SSC makes every major component of the Aero from scratch. With production numbers much lower than the Veyron's it is rarer by far. The Aero has no traction control and no anti-lock brakes, making it a "purist's car."

You are right, it is too easy to get carry away on youtube. As for Nissan GTR and Veyron, AWD, weight, gearbox, launch control (suppoosed to be dropped in 2009) are what you can get hence nickname "baby Veyron" for GTR by Chris Harris. Ride on both cars are similar despite their different layouts of engines.
what did you find of of it? the first 4 gears, as compared to last 2. the awd system, it's grip. roll? what are some things that you think could've been done to improve it? personally i looked at it's body roll and said that they could've made great use of an active suspension (obsessed with that thing) or what ever else to stabilize the car.
Veyron is electronically limited to 254 mph due to its tires (last 15 minutes when keeping that constant speed). Without the limiter, it reaches 415 km/h (~258 mph). The key point is about reaching that speed in a safe manner while having luxury. What is disappointing for SSC UA case is the need of extra power for that 257 mph speed even though it is already light. Did SSC have safety equipment should something wrong happen?

The Aero produces so much down force that, unlike the Diablo, it was breaking the original transmission at 220mph. Shelby made a compromise to increase the Aero's corning and made it wider at the expense of it's drag coefficient. The lack of drivers aides helps keep the Aero's weight down. So what if the Aero is unrefined compared to the Veyron, it performs.

Both the Veyron and the Aero began design development in 1999. I have argued this with Veyron bashers, neither of these cars are tuners, unlike the Hennesey's and the Lingenfelter's. While I am certain both bugatti and SSC had benchmarks for their perspective builds, they could not have benched each others cars. This is not like Nissan buying a Porcshe 933 so they can find out how it really performs for thier build of the new GTR. Thank you for the compliment, I just like cars in general.
The GTR's trnmission issue is real. As long as you do not use traction control the GTR has an incredible transmission. I am glad that Nissan is taking the launch control feature off the next iteration of the GTR. Would have been better if the trans was made stronger but at least removal of the launch control is a more honest stance. Besides winning a drag race with launch control only measures how fast you are at releasing the brakes.
i still don't believe it, i went over the warranty booklet quite a few times by now. garage 419, bunch of bullshit people. i don't like them but that's just me. I hate how people say "oh you have to launch to get a good 0-60 but you can't f*ckin blame the damn thing. lol it's a paddle shift, not a stick. oh, it turns out jdm gtrs make 520 BHP as compared to the usdm 480hp. That's about 600hp. no surprise as compared to the jdm r34. I just can't wait for the v spec though :)
I say if you know how to use your throttle and are aware of the condition of the road you should never need launch control to get a solid 0-60 time. It's not a total failure of the trans either just a bad noise and an anoying vibration that could lead to worse things over time. If the trans issue did not exist forums like this would not exist...

Veyron Grand Sport does 253 mph with hard top. Fast Lane Daily claim 215 mph (actually 224 mph) without roof is obviously electronically limited for safety purpose.
Why would it be electronically limited? Roll over at any speed is bad for any car. If the cover is cloth, aerodynamic drag could become a factor that causes the top to change shape thereby reducing the drag coefficiency. Think of the cloth flaps on the WW2 Mitsubishi Zero fighter, which limited their speed in a dive and made them vulnerable to the Hellcats with their metal covered flaps. Just as a Hellcat would not get into a turning fight with a Zero, Zeros avoided diving away from Hellcats.

back in ww2 they used to paint ships with crazy color schemes that would make them hard to predict because of the tricks they played on your eyes. Why not on these cars?
as far as looks go...it's been engineered for drag coefficiency..and for the transmission and for their decision to go for auto/syntronic tranny...it's the most efficient yet it maintains the best method for its pcm to decide on any commands for high peaking speeds..this car was overlooked from all aspects..and to think they messed up on any desicion for it's production value..you best think again on their determenation to make a unique and overall intelligent vehicle. In other words, Wow!
Probably the best cost vs ability piece of engineering that has been achieved to date I think. What great stats, and yes I think it's a bit ugly, but what awesome fun and what driving perfection.
Anyone that puts this car down would fit into one of two categories - either they will never be able to afford one, or alreay has a 911 Turbo.
On the contrary, get a Caterham csr 260. 0-60 in 3.1, 0-100-0 in 11.5 sec, better handling than almost any car you can buy, combined mpg of about 27, and a price around 62K (and that includes options).

That is Apples and Oranges my friend.. A Caterham and Ariel Atom are made for a totally different market segment and are intended for much different uses then the GT-R is. If you knew anything about either one, you would realize that the GT-R can be used as a very comfortable daily driver that is ALSO a very capable sports/race race at the push of a button, VS the Caterham or Atom which are only either a track only or a quick weekend jaunt thrill ride types of car. Two very different catagories.
Not really. Many Caterham owners use them as daily drivers. I was reading a review from a site that claimed "Lotus had simply managed to perfect the damping of the Elise to a level where it simply floated over the road surface. And if an Elise floats, the new Caterham CSR 260 levitates." Don't forget, the csr260 has a removable top and doors.
Comparisons between the GTR and a Caterham is nuts. I've been in Atom's (300s) and Caterhams, and they are nothing like the experience of being in a 'car'. Don't get me wrong, I buzzed for three weeks after doing 0-60 in less than 4 seconds and going around corners at warp speed, but you just cannot compare the two.
I've driven a Lotus and it was comfortable but that was because I was at Silverstone. On the road I have no doubt that they are a pain in the arse (literally) as a daily drive.
the problem wiht this car is taht the front is from the 350z and the back is from the skyline, and those two dont match together. why couldnt they just do a facelift to the skyline, call it a gt-r and put a more more more powerful engine on it. but still it is a very fast car, quicker than the carrera turbo

It's designed to cut through wind drag, and at the same time create enough downforce to stick in the corners. The actual looks were second thought at best. Also a dsg tranny shifts quicker than any manual. If you don't appreciate this car, you don't know shit about performance.

It has a unique engine, unique gearbox, unique chassis and a unique body, unlike the old Skylines, on which the old GT-R's were based. So Nissan could not use the prefix Skyline for this car. Not anymore. At the US launch it had already run a 7:38 time and has since run a 7:35 time. I beleive that makes it the 6th fastest around the circit of any production car in the world.

You hear alot quotes these days about cars laping the ring at 7. blah blah minutes. those times tend to be exagerated a bit. this car IS fast no doubt, but it does have a heavy ass as seen. loaping around corners. the zo6 and the zonda f both did it at 7m27 secs. And they were SCREAMING!! the gtr simply is not as fast around the bends as those two. so i seriously doubt a 7m post for it.

the super luxury and performance of a veyron are phenomenal. Their point wasn't to be the fastest car but the best car and that's just what they did but it just goes to show that every car needs work. Ever since every single retard tuner started gunning after the topspeed it makes very little meaning of a real super car. Especially when the pursang came out. with all that carbon fiber i expected 3700 lbs and when i read that shit was still 4100, i was pissed. lol

Before you wax any more judgmental I suggest that you realize the Aero is meant to draw attention to SSC's up coming luxury car. LOL There is a difference between you and I. actually, we pretty much have the same idea. i was deep into this veyron, use to know every little thing about it actually and then the gtr came which is something i'm more into. I appreciate what the veyron is, but i just got into the competetive thought knowing how many people say the veyron is shit compared to the ssc. So i just think up some simple things veyron could do to keep it's title. Lets face it, the veyrons weight is quite depressing.

Sorry I do not know tipo. I don't think the Veyron needs anything more than a bit more horse power to get the title back. What blows my mind is that, compared to the Aero, it weighs more, offers incredible creature comforts, and is still the land born equivalent to the Concorde. I admire the Veyron it is a true high water mark for touring luxury.

Ultimate Aero huge torque prevents it to corner at low speed due to lack of grip. It is only where it reach 160 mph it shows its potential meaning it was built for high speed, nothing more. You know there is a racing saying that goes, "In order to be fast sometimes you have to go slow." The Aero could have a lower drag coefficient than .357, the reason it does not is that Shelby designed it wider to facilitate cornering.

Problem is SSC struggle to sell their UA cars even in their native land despite being "half price the Veryon". It seems that buyers who can afford Veyron will not buy Aero and, people who can afford Aero but not Veyon will buy Lambo, Zonda, Koenigsegg instead. Ultimate Aero looks too much like a modified Diablo replica with no class, style and refinment. SSC needs to worry about themselves than other competitors.

You could not be more right though, they are two different machines with two different design thesis' behind them. If you don't mind me getting more specific than you. The Veyron is the penultimate grand tourer, whereas the Aero is the ultimate performance car. SSC is not a tuner. SSC makes every major component of the Aero from scratch. With production numbers much lower than the Veyron's it is rarer by far. The Aero has no traction control and no anti-lock brakes, making it a "purist's car."

the veyron is a super car because of it's price, it's rarity, it's performance, it's comfort, and it's rep. stuff like the scc? they only care about top speed. no luxury what so ever. if they were really that good then why did the veyron sell so many at over $1.6 million where as in the scc only sold like 7..

You are right, it is too easy to get carry away on youtube. As for Nissan GTR and Veyron, AWD, weight, gearbox, launch control (suppoosed to be dropped in 2009) are what you can get hence nickname "baby Veyron" for GTR by Chris Harris. Ride on both cars are similar despite their different layouts of engines.

what did you find of of it? the first 4 gears, as compared to last 2. the awd system, it's grip. roll? what are some things that you think could've been done to improve it? personally i looked at it's body roll and said that they could've made great use of an active suspension (obsessed with that thing) or what ever else to stabilize the car.

Veyron is electronically limited to 254 mph due to its tires (last 15 minutes when keeping that constant speed). Without the limiter, it reaches 415 km/h (~258 mph). The key point is about reaching that speed in a safe manner while having luxury. What is disappointing for SSC UA case is the need of extra power for that 257 mph speed even though it is already light. Did SSC have safety equipment should something wrong happen?

Listen I do not talk trash about a car that won your heart at a glance, do me the favor of not trashing a car that earned my respect. The Aero produces so much down force that, unlike the Diablo, it was breaking the original transmission at 220mph. Shelby made a compromise to increase the Aero's corning and made it wider at the expense of it's drag coefficient. The lack of drivers aides helps keep the Aero's weight down. So what if the Aero is unrefined compared to the Veyron, it performs.

Both the Veyron and the Aero began design development in 1999. I have argued this with Veyron bashers, neither of these cars are tuners, unlike the Hennesey's and the Lingenfelter's. While I am certain both bugatti and SSC had benchmarks for their perspective builds, they could not have benched each others cars. This is not like Nissan buying a Porcshe 933 so they can find out how it really performs for thier build of the new GTR. Thank you for the compliment, I just like cars in general.

The GTR's trnmission issue is real. As long as you do not use traction control the GTR has an incredible transmission. I am glad that Nissan is taking the launch control feature off the next iteration of the GTR. Would have been better if the trans was made stronger but at least removal of the launch control is a more honest stance. Besides winning a drag race with launch control only measures how fast you are at releasing the brakes.

i still don't believe it, i went over the warranty booklet quite a few times by now. garage 419, bunch of bullshit people. i don't like them but that's just me. I hate how people say "oh you have to launch to get a good 0-60 but you can't f*ckin blame the damn thing. lol it's a paddle shift, not a stick. oh, it turns out jdm gtrs make 520 BHP as compared to the usdm 480hp. That's about 600hp. no surprise as compared to the jdm r34. I just can't wait for the v spec though :)

I say if you know how to use your throttle and are aware of the condition of the road you should never need launch control to get a solid 0-60 time. It's not a total failure of the trans either just a bad noise and an anoying vibration that could lead to worse things over time. If the trans issue did not exist forums like this would not exist...

Veyron Grand Sport does 253 mph with hard top. Fast Lane Daily claim 215 mph (actually 224 mph) without roof is obviously electronically limited for safety purpose.

Why would it be electronically limited? Roll over at any speed is bad for any car. If the cover is cloth, aerodynamic drag could become a factor that causes the top to change shape thereby reducing the drag coefficiency. Think of the cloth flaps on the WW2 Mitsubishi Zero fighter, which limited their speed in a dive and made them vulnerable to the Hellcats with their metal covered flaps. Just as a Hellcat would not get into a turning fight with a Zero, Zeros avoided diving away from Hellcats.

as far as looks go...it's been engineered for drag coefficiency..and for the transmission and for their decision to go for auto/syntronic tranny...it's the most efficient yet it maintains the best method for its pcm to decide on any commands for high peaking speeds..this car was overlooked from all aspects..and to think they messed up on any desicion for it's production value..you best think again on their determenation to make a unique and overall intelligent vehicle. On the contrary, get a Caterham csr 260. 0-60 in 3.1, 0-100-0 in 11.5 sec, better handling than almost any car you can buy, combined mpg of about 27, and a price around 62K (and that includes options).
Btw, what is the time for the GTR and what source are you getting this from, because I've found quite a few refuting that claim.

That is Apples and Oranges my friend.. A Caterham and Ariel Atom are made for a totally different market segment and are intended for much different uses then the GT-R is. If you knew anything about either one, you would realize that the GT-R can be used as a very comfortable daily driver that is ALSO a very capable sports/race race at the push of a button, VS the Caterham or Atom which are only either a track only or a quick weekend jaunt thrill ride types of car. Two very different catagories.

Not really. Many Caterham owners use them as daily drivers. I was reading a review from a site that claimed "Lotus had simply managed to perfect the damping of the Elise to a level where it simply floated over the road surface. And if an Elise floats, the new Caterham CSR 260 levitates." Don't forget, the csr260 has a removable top and doors.

Comparisons between the GTR and a Caterham is nuts. I've been in Atom's (300s) and Caterhams, and they are nothing like the experience of being in a 'car'. Don't get me wrong, I buzzed for three weeks after doing 0-60 in less than 4 seconds and going around corners at warp speed, but you just cannot compare the two.
I've driven a Lotus and it was comfortable but that was because I was at Silverstone. On the road I have no doubt that they are a pain in the arse (literally) as a daily drive.

It's designed to cut through wind drag, and at the same time create enough downforce to stick in the corners. The actual looks were second thought at best. Also a dsg tranny shifts quicker than any manual. If you don't appreciate this car, you don't know shit about performance.

You hear alot quotes these days about cars laping the ring at 7. blah blah minutes. those times tend to be exagerated a bit. this car IS fast no doubt, but it does have a heavy ass as seen. loaping around corners. the zo6 and the zonda f both did it at 7m27 secs. And they were SCREAMING!! the gtr simply is not as fast around the bends as those two. so i seriously doubt a 7m post for it.
