For sure this could have been handled in a much better way, but South African's ran their own country for centuries before the white racists arrived there. What Mr Chuene could have said was "I am bound by confidentiality and I cannot answer your question" in regards to any outcome of any gender tests and to questions as to Caster's eligibility to compete he could have said "we believe Caster is eligible to compete." Being Intersex is not adequate reason to disqualify any athlete.

So Caster becomes the poster boy of the "new" South Africa. The President of Athletics South Africa has admitted he lied about the fact that Semenya had never been gender tested before the Berlin race. She indeed had been tested, and here's the kicker. After receiving the results of the tests, the South Africa team doctor requested Semenya be withdrawn from the 800-meter race she ended up winning.

Remember how South Africa denied that they knew Caster Semenya was a hermaphrodite before she won gold in Berlin? Yeah, that was a lie.

Well, the story out of South Africa was that Semenya had never been gender tested before the World Championships, so no one knew she was a hermaphrodite. South Africa vigorously stuck to this story. Only problem is that it isn't true.
