and we do beleive that God has people in all the churches. God has people in the RCC, baptist and pentecostal churches but these churches are teaching different doctrines
There is no single verse that supports sunday worship. Jesus restored the sabbath. he was against the pharisees who introduced man made rules which made the sabbath a burden. The sabbath was made for man (not jew) Unclean animals in the bible, eg pig, have been proven by science to be exactly that, unclean
I am SDA and there is so much misiformation in this video. (I am not a vegeterian btw) Most of my family is not SDA BTW and we do NOT teach salvation by works. 1844 is not that complcated. I can email you study material for our Sanctuarry message coz i do realize there are lots of anti SDA websites spreading lies and half truths. Ellen White: False prophet! There are NO "special" extra-Scriptural "visions!" Sorry, Ellen. To all faithful Christians: Stand firm on Scripture! Beware of false prophets! Pushing false doctrine and false belief IS one of the most dangerous "powers" that Satan has. The other is to flatly destroy faith or tempting folks to remain in unbelief.
I love all your videos, I eagerly await them every Tuesday and Friday. I've also begun to hang around the other portions of the WE site as well.
Pardon me for jumping onto one of my favorite soapboxes. It is a topic that I personally feel very strongly about. The Church of today seems to have let go of its catholic-ness. The focus in many congregations of all denominations seems to be on "my church" not "His church."
@matthewdhewlett Sure thing. And I'm with you on that last part, but I think its more a result of our selling out to the American "independent" ethos, then anything to do with a mass-group commitment to believing Scripture holds the Truth, and we can find it there together. pax
Please help me to understand this. I see the great tragedy of denominational fracturing of the one faith, just as Christ through Paul warned us against. This apparent contradiction does not help us evangelize. I have heard more than one person say that they do not believe simply because "Even the Christians don't know what Christianity is." How can we guide others toward true theology without saying outright "You are wrong" and proving ourselves an untrustworthy cult?
@matthewdhewlett I appreciate your question, and your concern, but the answer to what Jesus and Paul warned us against is not to say "Well, I guess no one knows anyway." Paul made it clear that divisions must come in order that those who hold to the Truth might be proved faithful in their clinging to it, over against all false teachers and lies. Jesus and Paul warned us that false teachers would come, and that in doing so Christianity would be blasphemed before the world.
@Revfiskj The greatest lie of our postmodern age is that there is no Truth, and that those who claim to know the Truth are arrogant liars. If so, then Jesus and Paul were arrogant liars. They bore witness to the Truth, and all who believe what the Scriptures say do so as well. Lutheranism confesses what the Scriptures say, and our confession is open to the world to judge. They are free to disagree. But no Christian is free to say "Oh well, guess we can't know after all."
@Revfiskj If you're curious for some old school reading on this, I suggest you google "Mercy Journeys," the blog of LCMS President Matthew Harrison. He's got a fantastic post full of quotes from Scripture, the ancient father and the Lutheran fathers on how Christians should view false teaching. It is the post from Aug 25 "Warning! Strong Lutheran Content."
@Revfiskj But please understand, it is not believing one is right and others are wrong that makes one or a group into a cult. It is an organization saying to its members "We are right, so you only listen to us and read what we give you to read, and don't worry about those people who say we're a cult. We're not. Trust us."
@Revfiskj To be a true cult, one must exhibit all FIVE of those characteristics together. I tried to show that 7DA's aren't quite there: not exactly a cult, but sometimes exhibiting tendencies. So does Rome for that matter! Some LCMS congregations no doubt also act that way with regards to their operation. However, anyone who studies cults can tell you the Lutheranism is not one for one reason: we're the most disorganized hack job of an organization in the history of the world. :D
You said that one sign of a cult is that they believe that they have the right answers and the correct view while all others are wrong. Is that not exactly what you're saying here? That the Lutheran view is correct and all others are incorrect? Every other denomination does this too. This is one thing I have struggled with, especially since I too am Lutheran. I see some hypocrisy in this. You say that it bad to count all others as wrong, but in the same sentence you say that very thing.
@matthewdhewlett I'm afraid you've misunderstood me. Believing in Truth, or believing that one has the Truth is not the sign of a cult. A cult claims to have the Truth in such a way that it is beyond critique or proof *as an organization.* It then uses this claim to be the "Truth bearer" to manipulate its members. This is very different than believing the Bible actually says something, and that we can actually know what it says.
answers a a former JW, dunked and nocked on doors with the 1914 gospel ... for a wasteful 2 years ... young, impressionable, set-up-for JW conversion by my fundamentalist Baptist theology and intellectually-dishonest teaching of Church history ... upbringing
I can't wait to see the segment on JWs if Rev Fisk will ever do one. They (JWs) probably should not even deserve the attention of WE team and energy.
For a group that says they follow the Bible, I'm incredulous that they've never read Col. 2:16-17. Couple that with Romans14:5-6 and there is no basis for Sabbath worship to be a pillar of Christian doctrine.
I was raised in a Baptist church. My father, who refused to be re-baptized and was critical of Baptist doctrine (he was raised Anglican- not TEC, but an offshoot that was more conservative and Catholic in flavor) had friends that were 7th Day Adventists. He couldn't see any difference in what they taught and what the Baptist church taught, aside from the sabbath and some food rules.
Thanks for the videos. I am seeking to join a LCMS congregation, not just because of your vids, but they help
